Meet German "Shark"

If you’ve ever done any repairs at home, you should have heard of Bosch, the leading manufacturer of building tools and equipment. Its authority and reputation in the market is not something you’d doubt and so, we all expect high-quality products from Bosch. 4100-09 Table Saw with Gravity-Rise stand is among most powerful and capacious table saws you could find on the market. It’s got a lot of innovative features which are in great demand today. First of all, the whole construction is made to be portable so that it could be used on different construction sites. Secondly, it’s been designed virtually for all types of jobs - from coarse cutting of thick boards to smoothing edges of plastic. The metal 10-inch blade has got 40 teeth in the set to cut through press wood-fiber blocks, OSB and wood of 2-¼ - 3-⅛ thickness. Adjust the angle to trim the edges after primarily wood processing unscrewing the locknut, or if you need to crosscut the board, use miter gauge in the needed bevel range.

The Bosch table saw relies on a high-performing engine with the Soft Start and Constant Response™ circuitry, which makes its operation quiet, quick and pretty smooth. Along with that,  4100-09 Table Saw can reach the speed of 3,650 RPM, making it suitable for accurate jobs as well. Now, what’s about rip capacity? On the left you’re going to get a board of 26-½” while on the right you’ll get a half size of it, about 10”. Without a slide-rail on the saw, you’ll be able to cut through 44” boards in thickness. Impressive! But would you expect less from the leading German brand?

To Saw Through Everything

So, we’ve got excellent performance, that’s, of course, the important thing anyone should expect from a decent saw, but what’s about the safety? Bosch table saw features Smart Guard System which in its turn combines the functions of Riving Knife, Anti-Kickback Device and Barrier Guard Device, all for different purposes. The Riving Knife stands for blade protection and prevents its stumbling during vibrations. The anti-kickback feature gives an operator some confidence that a wooden block isn’t going to fly aside during sawing but would be guided right on the path by sharp blade teeth. The Barrier Guard consisting of two plastic parts blocks the access to the blade to minimize the risks of direct contact with the blade while it’s rotating. The beauty about this all is that you wouldn’t need to use any additional or special tools to mount/dismount the system, the assembly takes literally a couple of minutes and then you’re ready to go. What else we liked about Bosch table saw is that it supports dado mode in which one can set and use a whole set of other blades to carve out wood pieces of 13/16’’ in size. If you’d like to have one, scroll down and follow the link below. SquareLock rip fence is also pretty convenient and delivers fast and accurate performance with maximum control during work. Yet, we do believe that a shop vacuum system has been among the best solutions Bosch has come up with to ensure that sawing work isn’t that dusty anymore. Once a vac hose is been connected to the dust outlet port, the woodworking dust is all going to be sucked in, keeping up the neatness of you working area. Now, when all prior specs have been covered, there are some other little things that you’d surely appreciate having as well, which are a dust collector at the side and capacious aluminum surface for wide and thick wooden stocks. With all that said, we can easily say that Bosch table saw has been awarded the Best Pick title not without a reason and it can quickly and efficiently perform all sorts of heavy duty jobs that earlier would have required a lot of physical effort. Mounted on solid 8” wheels, it’s pretty mobile as well, despite it doesn’t look so from the first glance.

What customers say about this product

Size & Weight(4.4)

Very portable and light weight. Accurate fence.

Cutting(4.6)

The Bosch blade that it comes with was removed and replaced with a Freud. The saw cut like a hot knife through butter and I am very pleased with the overall performance. The miter gauge is a little sloppy in the miter tracks.

Features(4.6)

The features for the rip fence are good; the registration and accuracy is completely acceptable for my work. Paired with the Bosch miter saw that I own, I have no excuse for not getting the job done - well.

Universal Table Saw

Another brand on our shortlist is Japanese Makita table saw which delivers amazing cutting performance at 4,800 rotations per minutes. The saw features a 10” blade with 32 teeth in the set which along with the motor yield suit perfectly well for accurate and rather harsh sawing jobs. Makita 2705 table saw will cope with thin and thick wooden stocks, giving an operator maximum control and comfort during use. Angle the saw at 45 or 90 degrees to vary the cutting thickness, or switch to the Miter Gauge to cut across the blocks. The options aren’t limited, the Makita saw has been designed to fit the majority of needs! The working surface is also adjustable so that you could set the optimal size for your cuts. In all, Makita table mightn’t be the most powerful table saw, that’s true, but for most daily household chores it’d surely suffice and deliver comfort.

Instant Stop

So, that’s not Bosch, but most of you know that Japanese products aren’t worse than those delivered from Germany. And here’s the Makita table saw with pretty much the same three-position guard system to ensure comfort and safety during use. Same like the Bosch, it doesn’t let the blade get jammed or the wood kickback, you can work stress-free with total relief of your mind. The Japanese went further though, and implemented electric brakes to stop the blade in an instant if it’s been stuck and cannot move. This way there’s no risk whatsoever that operator may get hurt and his safety is totally under control. Among other things that Japanese engineers have thought of is a push stick, using which you’d never contact the cutting elements but push the blocks from a distance, hands protected. Just like most advanced table saws, Makita model comes with a dust collector to keep your working space dust-free, and a smooth rip fence with a reliable fixation system. The table saw can be used in dado mode either, provided that you’ve got the needed set of blades to install. There’s something else we’ve found pretty nice about this table saw. For enhanced user’s convenience, the Makita saw has a large scale display with a zoom-in option to set there cutting thickness and angle with accuracy and precision. No gamble play, you will be able to see all the settings clearly right before your eyes.

Say No to Overload

The inventor of the first radial arm saw and the founder of the leading and quickly growing company of hand and power equipment for woodworking needs Raymond DeWalt has obviously had enough knowledge and expertise to win trust among thousands of Americans and people across the ocean and deliver super-quality tools. In this review we’d like to compare tech specifications and overall cutting performance of DW745 with the other four table saws handpicked for our overview. DW765 table saw from DeWalt has a powerful 15 Amp motor with 1.7 kW yield and a tensioned heavy 10” blade with 24 teeth. In regard to the speed it’s just a bit less powerful than Makita spinning at 3,850 rpm, still, it’s a sufficient result for a vast scope of jobs. The obvious thing about any saw with a fewer number of teeth is that it won’t be as good for precise cutting and smoothing the edges as those that have 40 and more but on the other hand it will be fast and performing when there’s the need to saw through thick wood quite quickly. The 45 and 90 angles allow for varying the cut bevel while Miter Angle provides for crosscutting of most hard and softwood with no overload.

Take Away

The distinctive feature of all DeWalt gear is compact size and light weight. And this table saw hasn’t become an exception. You mightn’t want to carry it in hands (it weighs 22 kg), but if you ever would need to take it along on a construction site or garage of your friend, it will easily fit in a car truck. DeWalt DW745 has other advantages too. Firstly, DeWalt table saw is pretty safe in use. It doesn’t kickback and it’s well protected from external impact. The steel roll case encloses the blade to block direct contact with hands, so there’s no risk you might get hurt during sawing. The entire system is arranged in a way to enable operator to cut with confidence, safety and maximum accuracy. You can vary the size of material you’d like to cut through by adjusting the wheel and when you set it, lock its position. The same wheel is also used to set a cut bevel, which is pretty handy and ergonomic. Similar to the other table saws on our shortlist, DeWalt table saw has got an additional compartment for tools (two screws and push stick are included) and a dust port, which can be connected to a hose for cleaning away all dust and wooden chips. If you don’t plan on using the saw in one permanent place, we’d suggest you buy a brand folding stand and take it along with you whenever necessary.

What customers say about this product

Size & Weight(4.6)

Features(4)

The fence is very easy to use and accurate. Cuts through wood easily.

Cutting(4)

Very accurate rail, alignment and cuts. Didn't need adjustment from factory settings for a long while.

Great Rip Capacity

The next table saw on our list is delivered by Herbert Tautz company (established in 1919 in Milwauke). So, what’s there so special about it? Let’s find out together. To deploy the Delta Power 36-6020, the manufacturer installed a powerful electric motor which is capable of spinning the blade at 5,000 rpm. That’s a lot even without comparing this rate with the other models. As a result, Delta Power 36-6020 can make most accurate cuts without chopping off the edges and handle rather thin materials without having them crippled. Still, there’s something else you’d not expect. Usually, high speed settings work great for accuracy and control and are often helpless when rather a thick block of wood is to be cut. This isn’t the same story with Delta Power 36-6020. This saw can easily handle both thin and dense chunks of wood and the maximum rip capacity is 7-¼” on the left and 30” on the right! This makes Delta Power 36-6020 table saw one of the most capacious tool that can easily grow in size with rip fence being set aside.

For All and One

Delta Power Tools table saw is suitable for both professionals and enthusiastic carpenters who deal with woodworking from time to time. It’s extremely portable, allowing contractors to fold it easily to a standing position and transport to various sites in a truck of a car. It features a safe locking mechanism so that one can adjust the blade in the same place and prevent it from falling during work. To avoid contact with the blade, the manufacturer has also equipped the saw with a push stick, so you don’t need to force the wood in by hands. Delta Power Tools table saw is also pretty simple to use, and if you’ve never sawn anything in your life before, you can fearlessly get this one and get to work right away. It’s easy to put it together for no tools are required. The assembly implies inserting a blade and folding the stand. That’s actually it. The saw has got an on-board storage compartment where you can store away your tools and accessories, which is handy not only on a construction site but also during transportation.

Cut Through 4x Materials

The STIL company knows everything one needs to know about saws to produce high-performing and quality products. Being on the market for almost a century already and having invented and introduced the first electric handheld saw, Edmond Michel gave a good start for his company to roll over. Now, we’ve got superior STIL table saws that boast exclusive cutting capacity and power suitable for all kinds of jobs. For our review we’ve picked SKIL 3410-02 table saw, which is the least expensive among the rivals but no chance is less powerful to rely on. The 10-inch blade and electric motor with 5,000 RPM under no load allow working with rather thin materials. The 3-½” cut capacity is also pretty impressive and more than enough to cut through even 4x materials. Just like the models mentioned above, STIL 3410-02 table saw can be used for sawing wood into pieces of different sizes and shapes at 45 and 90 angles. Scroll the wheel to adjust the blade height, fix its position and get to work. As simple as that. The maximum cut depth you can get is 24-¼”, so even big OSB and plywood sheets can be cut with ease.

Everyone can be a Carpenter

All tools that may be hazardous to our health should be considered with safety in mind. And more than that when it comes to construction tools like those with sharp teeth and blades that may get in direct contact with our hands. So, that’s for we couldn’t overlook the safety system of the given table saw. SKIL 3010-02 table saw features “Smart Guard” system, the name of which is already good to believe it’s going to be quite safe to use. The system includes a riving knife, two anti-kickback pawls and a guard blade, so that the contact of the blade with your fingers isn’t possible at all. Still, it’s recommended not to neglect using some other protection outfit such as gloves, noise-cancelling earmuffs and goggles, you can find some of the best products below. SKIL 3010-02 table saw may look quite petite, but that’s only until you find out how much space it actually has with a rip fence pulled out. You can easily accommodate short and long wooden boards there alike. Like the other tables saws in our review, this one has got a storage compartment for tools which aren’t in use. That’s also convenient for transportation so that all needed accessories can be stored in the same place and be there for you when one is needed. The kit includes a folding stand either which along with above mentioned components adds to safety features and convenience of use. The unit weight is only 45.2 lbs.

In all, SKIL 3010-02 might not be the best pick for construction sites, but for most average users and novice carpenters it will do a brilliant work, saving your time and effort on time-consuming jobs. Despite rather a low price, it’s got all the same characteristics that most other more expensive models boast, so you won’t regret your buy.

What is a Table Saw

No matter whether you own a house or not, you must have used a handheld saw for woodworking jobs at least once in your life. And most of you would agree, this job wasn’t fantastic and required a lot of time and physical effort. Of course, you might have been well satisfied with your cutting saw until you needed to do some real job - renew a wooden flooring or possibly even build a veranda. That’s when using a simple handheld saw turns into a nightmare lasting for endless weeks or even months. So, what’s there on offer to make this bit of work less stressful and time-consuming? Consider buying a table saw - a must-have garden tool in every household. High-performing as it, the table saw will easily do all heavy woodworking jobs and won’t wear you out.

Besides woods, most construction sites require nails. You can use a hammer or you can opt for something much more powerful and easy to work with - framing nailers. After all work we do on weekdays, we do deserve a little bit of professional help.

Best Table Saws

What Features to Compare

Capacity

Just like all electric equipment, table saws aren’t equally high-performing. And this shouldn’t come out as a surprise since there have got to be models for peculiar needs. People who need using a table saw only from now and then have no reason to overpay buying a professional grade equipment while those who use saws on a regular basis won’t get any use out of a basic tool. That’s where understanding of your personal needs and daily activities is quite important. In general, the capacity range of table saws varies between 1 HP and 4 HP. The higher this number is, the thicker wood a table saw will cut.

Performance

The other feature to be considered is the number of rotations per minute (RPM in other words) which determines how coarse or smooth a cut will be. You mightn’t have really thought about it but a high-capacity engine of a saw doesn’t ensure its smooth cutting through the hardwoods. What it does deliver are power and strength. Therefore if you need to slice the wood pretty accurately without chopped off bits at the edges, go for a saw with 5,000 RPM and higher. For most other jobs that don’t need as much scrupulosity, 3,500 RPM or so would suffice. Table saws can also be angled to do all sorts of cutting, including grooves for joining boards. However, it’s worth making a point that at steeper angles the teeth of the saw wear out also much quicker. Consider the blade types compatible with different models. Mostly, they differ in the number of teeth in the set. For smooth and accurate slicing of boards it’d be preferable to go for a saw with multiple teeth, though, they do require more scrupulous treatment and frequent sharpening. You also need to check on overall table saw capacity so that you can see how many boards and of what thickness would fit in it. Anyway, let’s make a short summary of what’s been said above. Buying a decent table saw is surely an investment, with that you acquire a capacious tool that would last in a long time, ridding you of the need to do all hard woodworking all alone. Even intensive use wouldn’t screw its service life, for all parts and blades can be bought separately and replaced. That means, you can fearlessly use your saw for all types of jobs and worry not that its performance might get worsen.

Safety and Conveniences

Sawing isn’t particularly a safe activity and of course, observing safety measures is important. Notwithstanding that most up-to-date table saws are now equipped with guard systems, wearing a protective outfit should be a must. Rather than that, manufacturers produce saws with a thought-out design to include all possible safety features to make operation with a saw not only secure but also comfortable. Most saws today feature a magnetic switch to protect a saw from overload. It also comes in useful in case of a power outage, for it automatically switches the blade to the “off” position and you don’t need to worry about it yourself. The other safety features that should be considered include a blade guard - a detached transparent box to enclose the blade and keep operator’s fingers away from the blade. Anti-kickback pawls should be also considered. More than anything else of the entire saw mechanism they work for operator’s security, preventing serious injuries that often occur when wood pieces get jammed at high speeds. Not for safety but rather for operator’s convenience, table saws are often equipped with a dust collector and storage compartment. There you can keep away all construction debris and store essential tools, screws, blades, earmuffs, gloves, and so on and so forth.
