What customers say about "Key Specs"
Garmin Dash Cam 45 Extremely Small GPS-enabled Dash Camera
- Easily mountable with a magnet you install on your windshield or what have you. After this, it's pretty much stuck. The camera itself sticks to the magnet while driving... and unless you have a major crash, I can't see how it would fall off.
- This has worked excellent. I really like it. The resolution is really good. You can make out license plates very well.
- Very solid 1080p video resolution when viewing from computer.
- The video quality from this camera is awesome, even when viewed on a big TV.
- Screen is pointless, remove it and make the device cheaper.
- Positioning it well can be tricky, especially if hiding it near the rear view mirror where you cant see the screen.
Garmin Dash Cam 55 Extremely Small GPS-Enabled Dash Camera
- Multiple resolutions available. 1440p, 1080p/60, 1080p/30/HDR.
- The Garmin dashcams are tiny, solidly built rectangles with a 2-inch LCD screen on the rear, four buttons on the right, and a lens that protrudes from the front.
- Because the 55 has an LCD screen, you can play back recordings right on the unit. The middle two buttons are up-down for selecting options, the bottom button confirms the selection and the top goes back.
- Screen size compared to dash camera. It's actually usable. Not a touch but I wouldn't want it to be a touch anyway.
- Resolution. I am disappointed with the resolution. I set it to the highest one, 1440x30 FPS, but in order to read a license plate or car manufacturer/model you need to be pretty close to the car.

What customers say about "Video"
Garmin Dash Cam 45 Extremely Small GPS-enabled Dash Camera
- Great field of view and crisp digital imaging, plus time/date and location stamping. Very high resolution on film for blowing up still frames. Superior product.
- Good video and wide angle lens is a plus. The lane warning is great along with the other alerts that are available.
- What a wonderful device to have in your vehicle, the video is great and now it can also record audio. I recently used it as a rear viewing camera and it came in very handy during a parking lot accident when another driver backed up into me and hit me. The video is very compelling.
- There isn't an option for how long you want the saved files to be. They're one minute clips, which isn't a huge deal by any means, but an option to do 3 or 5 or even 10 minutes would be nice.
- Video quality is good for day time but not for night time.
Garmin Dash Cam 55 Extremely Small GPS-Enabled Dash Camera
- Field of view. The camera covers a pretty large area.
- This thing is amazing. The field of view is fantastic. Wider than normal but not as high. Who cares? I’m not filming the sky anyway. I love the parking record feature.
- The video quality was very good. It was brighter and more crisp than my Street Guardian, which I liked very well. Some had commented that their video was "shaky" - perhaps due to the magnetic mount.
- Night light glare. At night reading license plates is even worst, glare becomes a bigger problem.
- Night quality is terrible. Parking mode only works for a couple hours, not through the night.

What customers say about "Features"
Garmin Dash Cam 45 Extremely Small GPS-enabled Dash Camera
- GPS requires no setup, the speed is not accurate at all- doesn't update fast enough, but provides an accurate reading when at a consistent speed.
- Great quality video! The lane departure assist and forward collision warning are highly inaccurate, but you can turn them off.
- The Garmin 45 is an outstanding camera. I love that it has built in Wi-Fi and that you can connect your phone to it to save videos.
- I'd like to be able to have more information on the features. It's kinda hard to find. And the instructions are less informing than those of IKEA furniture.
- The only problem I have with this is the app you must download in order to save/view videos. The app will freeze and trimming the video down to size to catch the incident is a frustrating task.
Garmin Dash Cam 55 Extremely Small GPS-Enabled Dash Camera
- Voice control is convenient especially for saving videos, instead of fiddling around trying to find the button.
- The WiFi share thing is actually really simple to use. Weirdly, despite the files being recorded in 1 minute intervals, if you share a video it shares several minutes at a time, which can take a while to transfer. That said, it's nice to have if you want it.
- The voice commands work very well, even with the radio is on and there are other noises. I have my radio on all the time and only a few times it thought that I issued a voice command, but this cases are rare.
- It records all the important data, such as date, time, GPS and car speed.
- The mount is a mix of a magnet that sticks onto your windshield (where ever you want to mount it that will stick) and a pivoting head that inserts into the camera. The give isn't exactly enough to easily twist the camera so it can record who you're talking to from the driver's side window.
- The status light indicator is red when the camera is recording but it's not bright enough in the day to really make a huge difference nor is it fully visible during the day even when you're looking at the screen side of the camera.
