- Just upgrading from an 859 unit. Was very pleased with the old one, and the new Helix with the brighter screen and faster processor meets all my expectations.
- I expected the side imaging to not only show the fish but show their shadows to give a better idea of where there are in the water column.
- Only issue with this unit is my lake is to shallow for it to reach its full potential. I love using the tracking feature to get home in the dark safel
- So far it has been a great tool for my husband. He absolutely loves the way it works. Shows him alot more then his old small screen hummingbird. Sonar is the best yet.
- The technology is amazing. Love the giant screen. I replaced a 597di and the clarity is night and day in di.
- It's the bomb! It works very well and can see a lot that I never could before!! Would definitely recommend!
- I was really excited to use this unit when I bought it. So far, it has been a huge disappointment . I mostly jig or troll for large lake trout. I need to use the zoom on the sonar and the chart at the same time... You can't with this unit.
- At 30 mph in shalllow water when you need the depth sounder the most it jumps from the propper depth to 100 feet then back. SI is a joke.
- The mapping must be taken from Cortez when he was looking for elderado. It shows me on land in narrow water ways.
- Great graph. Dont forget to use the trade in for your transducer if you want the hd transducer before you open the transducer package.
- Graph has been awesome so far. A pretty steep learning curve, but starting to get the hang of it. The seller shipped the item lightning fast and I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with them again.
- Love this product. The screen is amazing. The addition of si has changed how I fish for the better. My helix 9 si replaced a lowrance unit and the differences are night and day.
- The directional pad is very unresponsive. I recently spend $1,000 on the helix 9 si. I hooked it up and powered it to discover the directional pad was faulty.
- It's very responsive in the up and down direction but doesn't work unless you press left or right very hard.
- The screen is much sharper than the 1199 (more pixels). Side Imaging looks really great, especially on 800kHz with some of the new color palettes.
- As for the keypad, the buttons have a less rubbery feel, so it did take a little getting used to.
- I also have a Helix 10 DI at the bow to use with the 360 imaging...awesome setup for bass fishing.
- The menu and setting are intuitive and beg to be tinkered with with is good because it is necessary. feel I waste a lot let time fishing dock there are no fish under thanks to the si.
- The zoom is a separate page and anything zoomed in over 2X is really blocky. It does not pick up the jig or downrigger balls.
- The pros to the helix 9 and humminbird brand is how easy and non threatening it is to use. Very easy to use and most the time you hit one of two buttons to switch between views. This easy to use design made me stick with humminbird.
- Be sure u mount this on a super sturdy mount, like a ram D series mount. I'd also recommend picking up a 2d thru hull puck transducer so u have sonar while on plane. You'll need the y cable splitter too.
- Would be nice if there was pins or plugs for external speaker? But not a chance aparintly thay dont get out on the water to use the navigation in shallow water?
- AutoChart Live is awesome. Just turn it on in the map menu and you are instantly creating a custom map, much easier than the PC program.
- The unit cover is heavy duty, seems to hug the unit very well. Hasn't flown off while trailering like the plastics ones could.
- It is great. Have to know what your doing upon installation. But read the directions and there should not be any problems. Also, most may not be updating the software which I found fixes any bugs that I did find.
