- Did alot of research before purchase and decided to get the DC40 Origin. In a nutshell, this thing is great. Others said it made it fun to vacuum and they are right. I am shocked how much stuff it picks up just a week after the last vacuum.
- This Dyson has thoroughly impressed me with how well it cleans. Right after moving in I "cleaned" my entire apartment with my battery-powered Shark that claims to "pick up what your vacuum cleaner misses!" and then I went back over it with my Dyson....BIG difference!!!
- Don't know how I did anything before this product. Great for stairs and on hard or carpeted surfaces!
- The vacuum wouldn't work at all on the new carpet. It was impossible to push as the head got sucked into the fibers. We thought we were doing something wrong so we took it into a vacuum repair store.
- Pet hair pick-up--this just doesn't happen. Unless it is very loose or on a hard surface, the pet hair doesn't budge. Drives me crazy!
- I absolutely fricken love this vacuum! When it arrived I vacuummed - and eventhough the carpets was vacuumed the day before with a Bosch canister - the amount of dust and fur (I have three cats) the Dyson sucked up....I was TOTALLY grossed out.
- Can you be in love with a vacuum cleaner? I am. I bought the DC65 Animal Complete to replace my old pink Dyson DC07. It worked great for the 7 years I had it, but since we are buying a new house with carpeting, I decided it was time to upgrade!
- They are great for dusting high surfaces and on upholstery, but nothing is really ideal for stairs. Given how well it's treated our rugs though, these are really minor complaints.
- I was shocked thinking my carpet was clean which it probably was from the surface but this Dyson cleans it from under the hairs of the carpet! After we vacuum the carpet became flush, it feels wonderful.
- Does a super job. Tools are a little awkward to use, and on some surfaces it can be tough to push, but those are minor flaws.
- I love the small compact size and easy of moving this unit around, I know some people have complained about the weight or stress it puts on their wrists/arms to use, but had no such issues.
- Other than that, I love the weight, functionality, the ease of going from carpet to hard floor, and the ease of switching from floor to wand.
- Granted, I realize it's for the light weight. But I feel like I'm going to break it sometimes if I'm too rough. But other than that, this has been the best upright I've ever purchased.
- I really like how light weight it is. I read some of the other reviews about how it's made of plastic and feels cheap
- Small light weight and turns on a dime.
- But seriously, if you want a light weight, but amazingly capable vacuum, this is it.
- The weight is not an issue as the ball makes for ease of maneuvering AND this model has a power beater which assists in the pulling of the vacuum. At least the NEW beater gains traction. I don't know if a well worn beater would do as well.
- Carrying it by the handle just doesn't feel as if its as solid to hold the weight of the vacuum over time. We will see.
- The extremely light weight makes vacuuming a faster and easier chore, especially if you have multiple levels in your home as we do.
- The new one uses plastic so flimsy over most of the unit...my guess in an attempt to save weight.
- The best feature on this vacuum is the ball technology. It is so light and easy to maneuver! It's the number one reason I would recommend dyson products.
- he hose is indeed stiff and a little difficult to work with. You do have to be careful not to pull the unit over. Perhaps over time it will loosen up, but I don't see it operating like they show it in the picture with the woman across the room using an attachment.
- Also the controls for releasing the hose and extension are tricky to use without disconnecting the hose or handle by accident.
- Another thing I don't like is the mechanism that locks and releases the vacuum from full upright (storage) to normal use position. It's hidden inside the "hinge". It works on pressure, or force, and I can't keep it from releasing when the vacuum is being moved around on its rear wheels.
- My biggest gripe is that the hose extension is very, VERY awkward to use, as it collapses inside the hose tube and bends at really weird angles. It's difficult to extend the hose without tipping over the vacuum. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but that is certainly something Dyson could improve.
- Next, I worked on two carpeted rooms and used the dusting attachment to clean up a dresser, changing table, and crib. Again, I could not believe how much was in the bin.
- The attachments are located on the vacuum for easy access, the electrical cord is longer and easier to wind up on the vacuum and the bags must hold about 4 times the volume of hair and dust compared to the Dyson. Also the Miele has lights which you will miss if you get the Dyson.
- Oh and all the attachments on the Dyson complete version are super useful! If only they came with a nice box to store them or some kind of rack. Just a thought.
- The extension hose is WONDERFUL, though. It reaches far enough to get those nooks and crannies. I love that 2 of the attachments are right on the machine, so it is super quick and easy to switch back and forth between vacuuming duties.
- The hose thing is a bit difficult, but I needed something to pick up pet hair. I ran my (brand - X vacuum) over my area rug and then ran the Dyson for its first run.
- The cord length is the same as our other vac (25 ft). I suppose the bigger your house the larger your rooms and the longer you would want to the cord to be. We think the cord is fine.
- The cord length is adequate, but I suppose it could be longer. I have an 1100 sqft apartment and my largest room is a living/dining room that is about 30ft wide at the longest.
- The only problem I've seen with this vacuum so far is that the cord is significantly shorter than the one on my old Dyson.
- Cord is a bit on the short side, but still works if you have lots of outlets around the house.
- Because of the design changes, I found that I did not like the placement of the power cord which if I did not hold, would get in the way of my feet.
- The long cord is handy, but it tangled a lot -- maybe it will relax after it gets more use -- and perhaps the hose will too, which is very tight, causing the vacuum to tip over when you use it with an accessory.
- The power cord is wonderfully long, allowing me to finish 1-2 rooms in our large house without switching outlets. I love that (as, again, I am a lazy bum).
- Length of cord is great. However, it's a pretty thick cord and doesn't flatten out well.
- The other issue I have is the cord wants to get tangled into the vacuum, so I find myself holding it up a lot of time in certain situations.
- The cord hangs in the most annoying possible manner--you literally must devote one hand to holding the cord the entire time you use the vacuum.
