- This is an outstanding FM radio whether using the included speaker or stereo headphones. FM sensitivity is very good on the whip antenna.
- FM reception on the whip antenna is just plain unbeatable in its class. MW (AM broadcast band) performance is very good.
- It comes with a 20 foot longwire antenna that connects to the external antenna input jack on the side of the radio. FM sensitivity is really good.
- MW (AM) and FM broadcast bands are superior using only the built in antennas.
- The controls work well and smoothly. I easily rotate knobs and press each button.
- FM sensitivity, selectivity, and capture ratio are all excellent.
- FM reception is very good and this compact radio picks up many stations that are otherwise faint or beyond the reach of other, similarly equipped radios.
- The synchronous AM feature works as advertised to reduce interference.
- Controls and features not 100% intuitive. Read the user's manual.
- I would highly recommend this radio to someone looking for a nice, compact portable, that has great reception, good sound, and is very well made. Five stars for sure!
- This is an amazing little radio. Audio quality is very good for its size.
- The radio is a great size for traveling, is extremely easy to tune and move between bands.
- It's the perfect size and has a lot of features for the price.
- I liked the size, weight, and easy features. I have had many portable and table radios over the years, and it's the best.
- Compact size with very good sound. Ignore any negative reviews about the radio.
- I believe that it is the finest compact portable shortwave receiver ever designed.
- The Sony is a compact little jewel with a well-made, tight-fitting vinyl case.
- like the price, quality, features and compact size of this radio.
- It's not quite an ICF-2010 in size, bulk or sensitivity, but it's a lot more compact and has its own virtues.
- This is a very compact shortwave radio. It is a little hard for we older people to figure out and remember all the details. It plays good though.
- The screen is stunning. It is really big and it lights up really bright.
- Screen is very well lit when the back-light is turned on. Screen fonts/numbers are easy to read and are logically placed.
- Nice lighted screen. Good sound. Tunes ssb well.
- I like the big bright screen, long built in telescopic antenna and large amount of accessories.
- The unit works as described and has good quality sound.
- The speaker is really good. It never sounds tinny. I read another review that said the volume wasn't room filling, but I disagree.
- I've used it in every room in the house and never had any problems hearing it.
- I find sound quality from the speaker as adequate to good. I use ear buds most of the time, listening for distant stations.
- Readability might be an issue for some people. The display is quite small, no problem for me, but I dislike the display due to the shallow viewing angle.
- Sound quality is pretty bad. I may have just been spoiled by the excellent speaker on the CCRane, but this radio's speaker is not up to snuff.
- I like the battery recharging circuit for rechargeable batteries. That is a nice feature.
- Battery charging very convenient, nothing to set, just plug in power supply as needed to recharge after setting switch in compartment to NiCD.
- Works very well. I love that you can use rechargeable battery's in the unit and with the radio plugged in to the electrical outlet it will charge the batteries.
- The capability of charging NiMH AA batteries right in the unit is a big plus.
- The only feature I liked was that it charged the batteries when plugged in. Great battery life while working on the batteries.
- There is no noticeable drift and the battery life seems endless.
- Battery life is acceptable, although I would recommend acquiring a set of rechargeable AA batteries for the Sony.
- Battery life is fantastic. I was able to use the radio several hours for over a week before the batteries needed to be replenished.
- The batteries (not included) last forever (NiMH) and the sound quality is pretty good too.
- Battery life is average, plan on using rechargables.
