The resolution is excellent and the motion/sound alerts are wonderful.
You will obviously lose some resolution, but we have found it to be quite acceptable still.
The phone application required a little figuring out to get things correct. The camera is dependent on your internet connection so if it's fast it will work better. The focal length is about one average size room.
This camera has a great picture and is very quick and easy to set up. I like that I can see the video on any device just by logging into my Nest account. It has a wide field of view that allows me to see the entire room.
I can no longer get good resolution when I zoom ... it simply hyper zooms beyond the point I've established, and all I see is pixelation.

This has great resolution in day light and night mode. Serves my purpose well for monitoring my home while away.
Excellent high def resolution. Extremely easy set up. The installation process from opening the box to fully operational was less than 15 minutes! And that's including the download of the Arlo app which is super easy to navigate.
This camera has very sharp resolution and great motion alerts.
So all cameras will have ins and outs, but basically why this one rocks is you get 30 days of free video storage in the cloud.
The resolution of this camera system is really good ans also very easy to install

Overall, I really like this camera. It's size, mounting options, long power cord, and wireless connectivity provide a lot of flexibility in placement.
Compact size allow me to hide the unit, but has a great interactive menu to change the function of the camera just like the more expensive units.
This little camera packs a lot of features in it's tinny size, Microphone, Speaker, Wireless Connectivity without the need of a Receiver, it connects to the Router in your home.
I really enjoy the cameras! The picture quality is great for it's size.
The cameras are lightweight and come with an easy to install mount.

I can't say enough good things about the new app. The feature to scrub through a timeline to quickly see activities is perfect.
The "alert" system is oddly conceived. You only get alerts every 30 minutes. So, since we use the unit as a baby monitor, we have to constantly keep an eye on it. It won't alert you again until you enter into a new 30 minute window.
Another good feature is that Nest e-mails you every time there is a break in Wi-Fi service. The Nest camera system would be a great security camera system but it is also ideal to help and keep track of elderly parents.
The motion alert feature is great for when you are away, but I wish Nest would concede some short amount of video history for casual users.
The only issue I have is with the storage side. I have no problems with paying or anything like that or even the tiers. The issue is for goodness sakes why is it not available for us in more countries - sort this out as to me its the most limiting problem.

Hearing and seeing how they are treated really eases my mind, as I had moved them from a place where they were mistreated, amazing how people act to your face and behind your back. I would definitely recommend this camera for any need.
No bat replacement. Long power cord. Higher res than bat powered version (true 1080). Has the best type of mount that is usually optional and if you want to you can add the 4 cam system later for a max of 5.
Like most others you get about half of advertising night vision capabilities but you can get a 3rd party night vision diode cluster to place next to the cam that will allow additional distance which I have done with other systems.
If you are not computer savy then this is definitely for you. After unpacking and a quick swift through the manual I was up and running in less than 5 min but I am an IT Director. Even if not I have setup many systems in my career and can say this was by far the easiest.
There is also the option to record manual clips and take still images that you can save to your mobile device from the cloud/ mobile app. The motion also works quite well too and I seem to get an alert with in about 10 seconds of walking in front of the camera.
