OUR VERDICT

At 3.8 x 1.1 x 1.1 inches, the ESCO LITE 0070 is the most compact UV flashlight on this list. Fitting most pockets, the model enables effortless transportation. Likewise, measuring 1.8 ounces weight-wise, the 'light is so light you won't even notice its presence.

GLOSSDAY (UV-128LED-FBA)

Covering More

The GLOSSDAY UV-128LED-FBA is a chunky boy. Adopting 128 LEDs, this flashlight illuminates the widest area, covering more surface at once. With these LEDs, you can even light up scorpions ~50 feet away from you. Covering a large area, the beam does not lose its light intensity.

To add more, the ultra-intensity LEDs feature an anti-abrasive finish and a non-slip textured grip, protecting the 'light against scratches and making sure that you can use it with wet hands. Besides its finish, the model's made from aircraft-grade aluminum, protecting the flashlight against shock damage and deformation.

Of course, the model's increased LED count entails certain disadvantages. First, the 'light measures 7.6 x 3.5 x 3.5 inches and weighs 13 ounces, quite a bit more than its less intense competition. Second, due to its weirdly-shaped form factor, the model does not make it easy to replace batteries. On the bright side (pun intended), the LEDs inside this flashlight should last ~100,000 hours, so, chances are, you'll lose the 'light somewhere before the LEDs die out.

Bottom line, the GLOSSDAY UV-128LED-FBA can work as a portable pet urine detector light, scorpion finder, fluorescent detector, as well as for currency/license/card/passport authentication. This UV flashlight can also detect oil stains, body fluids, blood, fluorescent substances on baby clothes, and so forth.

COSMOING (FL10-UV)

Rechargeable Approach

The COSMOING FL10-UV is a classic. The 'light delivers on every front, starting with its rechargeable battery. Using the included USB cable, you can keep the flashlight recharged and use it without replacing batteries every few months. Needless to say, the model can be recharged via any USB-enabled device, including laptops and power banks. The 2000-mAh battery should usually last at least 5-6 hours (continuous use) before running out.

Not unlike its competition, this ultraviolet flashlight is crafted from high-strength aluminum alloy. Made skid-proof, waterproof, explosion-proof, and shockproof, the 'light can take a considerable lickin' and keep on tickin'. What's more, the IP65 enclosure makes the flashlight dust-tight and protected against direct low-pressure jets. Since most UV 'lights are not going above IP44, meaning that they cannot handle dust and anything more than a splash, this model is much more versatile and can survive much more extreme conditions.

The on/off button is difficult to press, that's the one wink link on this otherwise impeccable device. Aside from that, the COSMOING FL10-UV puts a slight spin on the usual UV LED flashlight formula, making the model more rugged and more flexible.

Morpilot (2461059)

Tougher than they Look

The Morpilot 2461059 is a small and convenient set. Packing two mini light torches, the set can be shared between partners. As you would expect, these shortwave flashlights are not quite as capable as the more sizable models on this list. At 3.8 x 1.2 x 1.2 inches (each), these 'lights are much more compact than the usual deal. Likewise, capping at 1.8 ounces, they're practically weightless, so you can hold ad use the flashlight with two-three fingers tops without experiencing noticeable discomfort.

Despite looking a little meek, these flashlights are made from the same stuff that the more expensive models are made of. Adopting aircraft-grade aluminum, they can take a considerable beating without displaying damage signs. In the same vein, the aluminum housing improves heat dissipation, so the 'light remains cool to the touch.

Between the 12 LED bulbs on each mini torch, these flashlights are plenty bright. However, due to the above-mentioned size, the illumination area that these torches can cover is pretty narrow. As long as you're fine with that, you'll be more than fine with the Morpilot 2461059. Apart from detecting stains and illuminating materials, these 'lights will let you authenticate currency and official documents. Plus, they can also work as nail dryers.

LETION (LE-8613d)

More Modes, More Light

The LETION LE-8613d hits somewhat different chords. Whereas most UV flashlights come with 1 lighting mode, this model features 4. With these modes, you can switch between high white, low white, SOS, and UV light, which means that you can also switch between white and purple light. In other words, the model doubles as a regular flashlight as well as a UV 'light.

Moreover, this digital torch adopts a scaling design. Rotating its body, you can adjust and control the FoV (field of view). Employing circular floodlights, the model enables large-area lighting. Using the glare spotlight feature, this flashlight covers long-distance observation needs.

As always, the model's extended functionality entails certain flaws too. To start with, size-wise, the 'light measures 5.3 x 1.4 x 1.4 inches, which is not large but also not necessarily space-saving. The same can be said about its 5.3-ounce weight - not terrible, but also not great. Also, the model chews through batteries like nobody's business, which is a little annoying (even though AAA batteries these days cost almost nothing).

Still, these flaws are relatively negligible. And, despite them, the LETION LE-8613d will easily accommodate pet owners, security guards, fishing enthusiasts, hunters, and more.

ESCO LITE (0070)

A Little More Compact

The ESCO LITE 0070 is the tiniest UV blacklight flashlight within this selection. Stretching just 3.8 x 1.1 x 1.1 inches, the model's perfectly pocketable. Plus, with its weight stopping at 1.8 ounces, you can drop the 'light in the pocket and forget that it is even there.

Reducing the model's size and weight, the people behind this model have also reduced its illumination prowess, but that is inevitable. With 12 UV LEDs measuring 395 nanometers, the flashlight's wavelength reaches 200 lumens, which is adequate considering the size.

What is a little less adequate is the model's construction. On the one hand, adopting aircraft-grade aluminum, this 'light can take a serious beating. On the other hand, the acrylic lens is not scratch-resistant, so you'll have to be extra careful with it.

The good news is that the model integrates the same IP44 enclosure that most UV flashlights are sporting nowadays. With this enclosure, the 'light is protected small solid objects (above-average insects, wires, screws, nails, etc) and from splashes.

So, assuming you don't need the most powerful UV flashlight out there, the ESCO LITE 0070 should do the trick. Its 200-lumen output is sufficient as far as everyday tasks go.

What Is a UV Flashlight?

The human eye is quite remarkable. Still, there's a lot that the naked eye cannot see. Different faint stains (including blood and oil), pet urine, various fluorescent substances, and more, you cannot spot them without ultraviolet illumination. Other than that, UV light also lets you spot dark objects (and creatures) in low-light conditions like scorpions and spiders. With UV light, you can authenticate official documents and currency, spotting counterfeits.

From security guards to pet owners to professional hunters and fishing enthusiasts, there are quite a few people who can (and usually will) benefit from a UV light source, hence these UV flashlights. With them, you'll spot even the things that are hidden from the naked eye. Incorporating aircraft-grade aluminum, these digital torches can survive pretty harsh conditions. The LEDs inside these 'lights are pushing 395 nanometers, so they're usually more longwave than shortwave.

But, as good as they are in the wild, they're not quite as good as these tactical flashlights. And, on job sites, EDC flashlights usually prove a bit more helpful.
