When Martin sets their sights on crafting an affordable dreadnought, you know you're getting a quality instrument. Long a pioneer in using sustainable materials in their guitars, Martin continues this tradition with the DRS1. With its distinctive solid sapele (a close relative of mahogany) top, back, and sides, the DRS1 gives you bright, clear trebles, and warm midrange. The DRS1's punchy lows make it an excellent choice for miked recording when you've got thicker tracks to work with.

With its distinctive solid Sitka spruce top, solid sapele (a close relative of mahogany) back and sides, the DRS2 gives you bright, clear trebles and a warm midrange. But if you're ready to take it out live, the DRS2's built-in Fishman Sonitone pickup provides great plugged-in tone.

At first it felt a bit tense or foreign but after letting it sit and playing it a bit, really breaking it in, the sound is amazing. it's easy to play and smooth, very fun as well. has a very crisp, deep, warm sound.
This is a beautiful looking & sounding guitar period! Also a plug because they make a lefty... the deep rich sound & tone of this guitar is nothing short of fantastic.
Sounds like a woman. In the still night air she rings like the call of a bird on the farr side of a beautiful lake. Her voice floats on the air, as softly as the touch on her strings, that sends it floating in the night.
I love this guitar and use it everyday. It has such a full bodied sound.
The DRS-1 represents possibly the best value available in a solid wood guitar. The sound is terrific; very nicely balanced. I personally love the very simple, unadorned looks of this guitar.

Martin DRS2 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar

A full bodied sound, with nice booming low end and nice crisp mids and highs, I just wish I bought a Martin DECADES ago!
It was perfect right out of the box! Action low and fast. Very easy to play. The medium strings match this guitar well.
The sound is amazing! I find myself practicing a lot more with my DRS2. I am very satisfied with this guitar and I know I will enjoy playing it for many years to come.
It has such a great sound that anyone would be proud of. It has to sound extra good because my wife ask me every day to get the guitar and play some for her, and i will.
I'm also very impressed with the electronics. I think this guitar sounds even better when plugged in (my looper pedal has been getting a lot of use).

The neck is easy to play & very smooth .
The neck is just the right size and allows me to play chords easier than any of my previous guitars.
I love the wider 1.75 nut.
Some may find that a Dreadnought is a little too big to feel comfortable with.

The finish is great, and I love the dark sound of sapele.
Solid sapele, gorgeous sound, and utterly handsome in its own classic, subtle way. Amazing at this price.
Has a very good traditional mahogany sound.
After a little over a year the body cracked while it was just hanging on my wall. Other guitars - Fenders and Gibsons - have hung on that wall for decades but this is not a sturdy instrument.

Love this guitar! Top quality construction, great sound/tone, easy to play.
The finish is luxurious and very rich wood that produces a very pleasant sound.
That fantastic wood smell every time you open the case, the deep bass tones when playing rhythm and the classic looks of an all wood Martin.
The neck is solid Sipo, they don't appear to be using stratabond necks anymore.
All solid tone woods, spruce top and sapele back and sides. The neck is a laminated engineered composite wood that is extremely stable.

The harmonics, tone, and quality of the workmanship are undeniable. Probably the best sound one can get without spending thousands.
Very happy. Came with a nice case.
The craftsmanship is so incredibly solid and it sounds better than guitars 5x it's price. It stays in tune for days without needing even a slight adjustment.
Great tone. Very good sustain. Stays in tune with great intonation, note articulation, feel, and great overall playability.
Case has mild defects. Otherwise guitar itself is great!
The tuners, nut and saddle are ok, but I plan on upgrading the tuners to 18:1 Grovers and getting a bone nut and saddle.

Martin DRS2 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar

For 2016 they moved the 9 volt battery compartment to the end of the guitar so you no longer need to take the strings off to change it.
The case is a quality piece also You will like it!
It also comes with a sturdy hard shell case.
