Wireless Data Transfer and Backup

RAVPower AC750 does everything. The device is as fast and flexible as most standard routers, putting its portable peers to shame. First off, the model comes equipped with two bands: the standard 2.4 GHz that is able to provide 300 Mbps and the high-speed 5 GHz that can transmit 433 Mbps.

Other than that, this device supports the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard, with its 1 Gbps multistation throughput and 500 Mpbs single-link throughput.

Though portable router first and foremost, the device will let you connect SD cards, different drives (including SSDs) wirelessly to various gadgets (smartphones, tablets, laptops, and more) not only for streaming various content and browsing documents but also transferring files mutually between SD cards/different drives and the connected gadget.

You can use the One Key Backup feature to copy data from SD cards to the connected drive(s) with one click.

Again, the device can do pretty much anything. As far as we're concerned, its only downside is that the company's app gets glitchy at times.

Besides that, RAVPower AC750 will let you feel comfortable visiting different hotels and traveling to various places because you'll always be able to rely on the fastest router's strong and stable signal.

Streamlining Data Exchange

HooToo HT-TM05 looks quite cool but the looks sell this product less than its specs and features.

The device pulls double-duty, letting you set up wireless networks wherever you go and transfer data from and to different devices. You can even use this device as a power bank to recharge your gadgets since its 10400 mAh rechargeable battery more than allows that.

Travel router first though, you can use the AP mode to turn any network (Ethernet) cable into a fully-fledged wireless network for multiple smartphones and tablets.

Connect the device to a DSL/modem and the Router mode will let you use this thing as this mini WiFi router.

The Bridge mode, on the other hand, will make sure you don't have to pay for multiple network connections, enabling you to connect the device to the network and share the connection between various gadgets.

At the same time, the company's TripMate app will let you easily and effortlessly transfer/ backup files, quickly giving you more space whenever that space is necessary. You can use this app to connect SSDs, HDDs, and flash drives to phones, tablets, and laptops.

In other words, HooToo HT-TM05 will make sure that the Internet connection and data sharing on the road is as quick and streamlined as it is at home.

An Elegant Solution

TP-LINK TL-WR802N looks sleek and compact. You can not only fit this device into any bag and purse but even most pockets. Measuring 2.2" x 2.2" x 0.7", the router barely takes up any space.

Of course, its size and streamlined profile make the product quite attractive but not as much as its features.

Using this device, you'll be able to quickly create the most secure Wi-Fi hotspot to share the connection with friends and family anywhere you go.

The model's 2.4GHz 300 Mbps maximum throughput will enable lag-free streaming and gaming for multiple gadgets.

The device supports the majority of standard router modes, including Router Mode, Bridge Mode, Access Point Mode, and Client Mode. You'll be able to control the network on the road as comfortably as you would at home. The router will let you make these networks as private and secure or public and accessible as you want.

The biggest downside, as far as we're concerned, is the fact that the device might take some time to set up because the company's application is relatively convoluted.

Other than that, TP-LINK TL-WR802N is an elegant solution to comfortably using the Internet on the go. Despite the compact profile, the device's coverage area is surprisingly wide.

Stream and Share on the Road

Power RP-WD03 is not that different from its more expensive associate from the same company that we've reviewed above. Of course, its maximum throughput is far less impressive but the price reflects that difference.

Apart from that, this device will let you pull the same tricks.

You can use RP-WD03 to transfers files between SD cards/flash drives/HDDs and most devices/gadgets (phones, tablets, PCs, laptops, etc) to quickly and easily free up space.

The device can be used as this nice little power bank too (though its 6000 mAh rechargeable battery won't be able to provide that much juice).

We wouldn't call that the product's foible though because that's not what the device was initially designed. Its biggest flaw is probably the fact that the device heats up during use, so we would recommend occasionally restarting it and letting the router rest for a few minutes.

Besides that, the model is able to use the same modes as its more expensive counterparts, including Router Mode, Bridge Mode, and Access Point Mode.

All things considered, you can take the RAVPower RP-WD03 wireless travel router with you on any trip. There's no way this device won't prove useful there. Its elegant white housing doesn't hurt too.

When the Size Matters

GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2 looks quirky, to put it mildly. We do not care for its yellow housing whatsoever. At the same time, we're willing to forgive and forget the questionable paintwork since the price is super modest and the device's performance pretty much matches its more expensive peers. Its only weak link is the coverage area that's somewhat limited compared to the routers on this list.

On the bright (as bright as its grotesque housing) side, the device adopts Router Mode, Bridge Mode, Access Point Mode, Client Mode, Portable DLAN Media Server, and wireless data transfer. It is compatible with 3G and 4G USB modems.

The pre-installed OpenVPN client is compatible with 20+ VPN service providers. The software will let you access tethering mode too.

Despite its affordable price tag, the device's security protocols and data encryption tech are top-notch, adding an extra protection layer wherever you go.

Last but definitely not least are the product's physical characteristics. Measuring 2.2" x 2.2" x 1" and weighing less than 1.5 oz, the device is as compact and lightweight as they come. You can stuff this small thing inside any pocket and the weight+size combination will make you forget you've put the router there in the first place.

What Is a Travel Router?

Generally speaking, traveling is great. Sure, sometimes, it is not even a choice (talking about business trips). That's not the point here though. Whether you enjoy traveling or not, whether you do it voluntarily or not, there's one thing that people rarely enjoy - subpar hotel Internet.

That's where these travel routers come into play. Bringing these routers with you, you'll be able to enjoy a stable and reliable connection on the road.

More often than not, the only difference between these models and standard wireless routers is the throughput.

Apart from that, these routers can do everything that standard routers are able to do, including setting up access points, bridging different devices, and more.

Besides that, these routers often double as file hubs, letting you quickly and easily share data between different storage devices and gadgets.

Sometimes, wireless travel routers can even be used as power banks, especially when the battery allows that.

Of course, these devices are unable to match high-end gaming routers and standard wireless routers for home and office use, so you should look into these too if needed.
