- Bought this to use in the main room of our 1,100 square foot apartment. The open space is probably 600 square feet with 4 dogs.
- I knew that the square footage of the room was significantly greater than what the single GermGuardian was rated to handle so I purchased a second one.
- Wonderful air purifier/fan! I use it to treat a ~100 square foot space and it handles it well. It reduces odors much better than I thought it would and having 5 different fan speeds gives you a lot of flexibility.
- Even though it is technically only rated for not very large rooms, it works well in my 720 square foot apartment. I can definitely tell the air is cleaner and fresher when it runs, even though I don't have any pets. It is a little noisy on high but nothing worth complaining over.
- I measured the power usage with my little Belkin power meter - with fan on max and UV on, it's 63 watts; with fan on the lowest setting and UV off it's 33 watts. So running it all the time shouldn't be too costly.
- I chose this one for the den in our house and over the coming weeks we will be getting smaller ones for the bed rooms.
- Every room in my home has at least one unit of some kind. This all started after radiation treatments following cancer surgery, when I was warned my immune system would be affected, well it may have been, but these units have kept me in perfect health!
- I would highly recommend this machine to anyone who is looking for a relatively cost-effective and efficient air purifier for a room under 200 square feet.
- Then this morning I noticed a distinct odor in my sons room and after sticking my nose by the purifier determined it was the culprit.
- I can't find anywhere what the square footage range is for this purifier, but if I had to guess it would be about 100sf. I just don't think it's powerful enough to do much else.
- So happy we bought this for our house. We bought a large size and a smaller size one. They truly make a difference in the quality of our air.
- I use this unit in my 450 sqft bedroom and it is the perfect size for this room.
- The unit is well designed and quality built, but it is the UV light that I had the defect with. The very first unit burned out it's UV bulb in less than a week.
- This does the job and is a good price for a basic purifier. It’s a nice sleek tower design and is portable.
- I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because I received it when promised and I like the sleek design, It is not heavy and very mobile .
- I have two of these units and one of the next size up. The larger one sits in the doorway of the cats' restroom, one in the master suite, and one in the kitchen.
- Light weight, so easy to move around
- They're light weight. Sometimes I'll move them around the house.
- It's compact and light weight so it can go in a corner or on a small table
- Light weight and easy to move, doesn't take up much space.
- Filters are easy to replace, the timer function is intuitive and useful, and the UV bulb is a great addition. The only complaint I have is that the blue indicator light that is illuminated when the UV bulb is on is rather bright, but I covered it with electrical tape so it's not a problem anymore.
- Also, forget the six month life cycle on the HEPA filter.. Mine got completely clogged in 2-3 months. Not huge because it shows how well the filters are working in my home, but these filters are starting to look like a very expensive maintenance item.
- I like this product as it helps keep the air cleaner in my bedroom and gives some decent ambient noise.
- At first the noise was a little noticeable but soon you don't notice it. So, in my opinion, the GermGuardian arrived and worked as advertised. I think it has helped with my asthma but hasn't cured it.
- Filters are not cheap so factor the filter replacement costs into your decision.
- It has the "change filter" feature so I don't have to worry about wondering when it's going to start being less efficient. The filters aren't cost prohibitive as most other air cleaners.
- The UV feature seems to have cut down on the mold smell (old apartment, old damp wood). I keep one running by the bed.
- We don't use the UV feature because the blue light is too bright. The most impressive feature of this filter is that we can bring it into the kitchen when cooking foods with strong odors (such as fish) and it clears out the smell within an hour.
- The blue light produced when the UV feature is on makes a nice night light.
- Also, I don't use the UV light. It's a silly feature. Your air doesn't need to be sterilized. And if it did a proper job the UV lamp would also generate toxic ozone gas when the UV reacts with the oxygen in the air.
