This reel performed so well I landed that fish without any issues. It is large enough to handle most types of offshore fishing.
I like the size for the capacity, I really needed a reel to hold a lot of heavy line. I was surprised at how smooth the reel is.
Great reel with strong drag and a ton of line capacity. Great popping reel as well.
The reel is very strong and durable given the length of time I have used it.
They are relatively light in weight, are sealed, have very good line capacity and in my opinion they have the best drags around.

I used this reel fishing on a boat for tuna the live bait release and drag system worked well .
High quality, smooth reel. Salt water resistant. Double drag system works great for live bait.
American made again now, and has seemingly redesigned and sealed the drags on these new ones which is great.
I bought this for a 12’ surf rod I primarily use for sharks. Decent drag and you can’t beat Penn quality.
Love this reel. Great drag system and cast great. Holds braid very well.

The gearing on this reel is amazing for fast retrieval. At any rate, yes, this reel is awesome.
Yes, you will catch fish with it, and yes, you can cast far and smooth and retrieve fast.
Handle is large and the rubber knob gives it a great feel. The handle is also left or right handed which is a plus.
The penn battle 2 has the sleek design and comfortable grip that we as fisherman expect from such a fine company.
The non-corrosive design and line capacity were big selling points, and the overall specs on this reel were too great to pass up.

It’s a a very nice reel. Smooth casting and retrieving.
I fish saltwater mostly. Important to use salt rated gear. Very solid and quality reel.
Indestructible, must have for any saltwater fisherman fishing big fish.
Good power, line lay excellent, very strong drag.
Lightweight, sealed, and tough as nails. All spinning reels should be modeled after this one.
