Size: I am a professional photographer who is looking for something as an alternative to my DSLR to put in my pocket... and this camera is the perfect size.
Lightweight, easy to use, fits in a purse or large pocket.
I really like the fact this fits nicely in a pocket, is light-weight, and with the rear optic viewfinder I find it much easier to take photos.
This thing is solid, heavy (relatively speaking) and feels really well built. I really like the ergonomics.

With its 1" sensor, the Canon G9X takes photos of the best image quality possible for anything in its size class.
A portable and solid camera that gives away high image quality.....the best pocket camera I have had. The only weakness is it should have a F1.8-2.8 lens.
Better image quality than a smart phone, tons of flexibility and it fits in my shirt pocket.
Image quality is high, with the 1 inch sensor. Digital noise is low through ISO 800. Focus is fairly speedy, especially in good light, to catch kids and pets.
Some of my pictures were out of focus and I couldn't justify spending 400+tax for something that is not much better than smartphone camera. (Except night shoots)

Focusing is very fast in my use. I feel this is subjective and based on how the user will use it.
Great low light pictures and videos. Good picture quality.
Extremely pleased. Image stabilization works great giving sharp bird photos handheld even at max optical+digital zoom.
The videos are very good to excellent as well, and the optical stabilization is very smooth, I was very impressed but I don't shoot video all that much, so that's just icing on the cake.

Touch screen capabilities are good, fast shutter speed and does well In low light conditions.
I like the use of the touch screen, I like the settings options. Seemed very user friendly.
Handling: the touch display is really well done (finally Canon!).
Sorta superfluous with the touch-screen, but I appreciate the tactile quality and like the looks.
The camera does not have a viewfinder or articulating screen which would have been an asset. I have had no trouble seeing the screen in bright sunlight and have also taken selfies as well.

Flipping screen is perfect for selfies and vlogs.
Touch Screen: I can use the touch screen to focus (changing focus points is wonderful, touch to shoot, make setting adjustments, zoom in during editing. It is like shooting a combination smart phone/slr style.
Flip out Screen is more useful than I though, making it easier to shoot at creating angles
Touchscreen was another bonus which was more useful than i'd anticipated.

Manual Controls: I like the ability to use the Front ring, the exposure dial, the back dial, 2 custom buttons and the touch screen to make adjustments. With a few different options available messing around and finding the one that works best for me is great.
Customizable menu and user interface. I actually like that I can hide all the features I don't need/use and streamline my menu to be able to make changes to the things I need faster.
Absolutely love this camera. Stability, sound, visual clarity are so good! Fits in a pocket, and ready to go.
The movie mode is excellent, especially using the touch screen to move the focus point while recording the movie is a great tool for creative recordings.
Battery dies out after an hour of use.
Comes with only wrist strap. Would be nice to have neck strap. I've searched online, but don't see any such accessories.
Battery life is short. I don't have shot numbers as I have been playing around with settings and wifi. Actual use will vary and to follow.

I love all the features it has and that it has Wifi
Best compact camera out there, professional settings and easy to wear around neck, plus the wifi feature is great!
I wanted something that was newer than the Elph I have, but wanted to stay with a point & shoot with WiFi.
The ability to transfer photos to other devices via WIFI is a huge plus. So far, I've only transferred them to my iPhone via the Canon Camera Connect Ap, but this pairing is pretty easy to set up and so far, has linked reliably.
Wireless works great to pair up with Android Canon Connect, remote shooting and file transfer

Wifi: Great to have it to transfer images to my phone to post to social media instantly.
Another great feature, which is a given in smartphones is WiFi transfer
Unfortunately, the camera does not support my Windows Phone, which is a shame, because I am not going to switch to Android or iOS because of it.
The wifi button is too easy to press even though it is recessed. So when putting the camera in my pocket or in a nifty case I have, it is too easy to accidentally turn on the camera by pressing the recessed wifi button.
