What customers say about "Key Specs"
Mackie HR-824 Active Studio Monitor (Single)
- I have had a pair of these since the second year of production in 1998. So they have been going strong for 18 years now!
- These are awesome monitors! Highly recommend to use.
- First, I was quite impressed with how loud and how much low end extension they had.
- The bass response is solid and they have a great sweet spot.
- I would not have them as a single pair due to the slightly retracted mid zone.

What customers say about "Size & Weight"
Mackie HR-824 Active Studio Monitor (Single)
- Their size perfectly fits in all my apartments in which I moved with them.
- I have these setup in a very small home studio and they sound great in close quarters and even better in larger rooms.
- For their age they look very tiny so that's why I fall in love with them with first look.
- Surprised that in compare with newer model of 824 they are look more stylish and amaze with their size.
- Quality of sound when look down into the 20s with tight base of monitors not seen in other, especially at this size.

What customers say about "Audio"
Mackie HR-824 Active Studio Monitor (Single)
- They get their great flat response curve ( +/_ 1 db ) with a great low end using an "artificial/virtual sound chamber" using the active plate behind an open woofer.
- Perfectly balanced sound in a very high quality, sturdy build.
- These monitors offer amazing low end punch and response.
- What I think is lacking in the sound is the mids zone that I feel is very shy.
- First when I got them I was disappointed. They had lots of bass but it wasn't as tight and defined.

What customers say about "Features"
Mackie HR-824 Active Studio Monitor (Single)
- They are smoother than most other monitors in the same class, and a lot better than similarly priced consumer stereo equipment.
- No need to think about how to put them in the room so that the bass reflex does not buzz, because it is not there, instead of it the passive radiator is Mackie's ingenious invention.
- Often times low end sounds mushy or it overloads home stereos.
- Monitors are absolutely not suitable as home acoustics, too wide dynamics and too dry sound, not for this they were made.
- One thing that has kept me from giving it the highest rating is that they are MDF boxes.
