- I really like a dial to set the shock level. One of the flaws with other collars is that changing the shock level is that it's not easy/quick to adjust the intensity. With this collar you can move from a "3" to an "8" very quickly.
- Length of the collar: It's very long. I think you could put it around the neck of a bear if you are like to seek adventure. It has a lot of holes for size adjustment and is easy to cut off the excess.
- Distance: He was a good 200 feet away from me when he received his final shock and ran back to the fence. The signal remained strong.
- Works at very long distances (I'm not sure if it's 350 yards, but I've never had the dog go out of range).
- Only has a correction tone ( and when you first turn it on ) it makes this sound. The pup always become very attentive after hearing this. I wish it would have a different tone or none at all.
- You cannot buy a replacement transmitter for this collar... so don't lose it!
- The collar design is similar to another collar that I had that failed on me. Instead of the collar wrapping around the front of the unit, it's held on with two plastic washers (which can break).
- The range is great, and the charge lasts a good long time. I would 100% recommend this product for anyone thats got a naughty pup or needs a little bit of help with training!
- The range is limited to line of sight/50-75ft at most. It's okay for us as we just use it for walks and to remind him not to dig in the backyard.
- The only reason I am not giving it 5 stats is that the range seems to be just about 100 yards. It is labeled as 100 yards, but I wish I had something more robust. I think 3 to 400 would be more appropriate for me.
- My dog exceeds the weight for this device by about two pounds is a little more than two years old. So I wasn't too concerned about it being unsafe for him.
- The only thing that I don't like is that the two contacts are a bit long and seem to bother her neck.
- The second button that gives a greater shock is a good idea in practice, but I rarely find myself using it.
- The battery life is better then previous models ( from 3 years ago ) I live in Alaska, so I use it in the winter months. this has double the life as previous models.
- Water proof ( I've added a little silicone grease to the O-Ring ) but it does come fairly water proof.
- I have purchased this Brand in the past and they work perfectly. Easy to use, waterproof units - dog swims with it on. The charger is able to recharge both the collar and transmitter at the same time ( usually overnight is all it takes ) - a very important feature.
- It uses two small batteries in the collar, and I've noticed that it will appear to function fine, but the batteries can be drained and don't provide much of a shock.
- The batteries don't last long either. I would say that you need to replace both batteries in the collar every month. If it was a normal AAA battery I wouldn't mind.
- The battery drawer needs a small Phillips screw driver ( if you don't have one in the field, its hard to MacGyver this one open ) the transmitter has an easily field serviceable door.
- Battery life is not very long on the 2032's and they aren't the cheapest kind of battery.
- The remote is really cool, comes with a strap to hang around your neck, has a very cool matte finish that feels great in your hands and is easy to use.
- The battery life is better then previous models ( from 3 years ago ) I live in Alaska, so I use it in the winter months. this has double the life as previous models
- I really like the SportDOG design for the remote (5 stars on that one), but the collar is the weak point.
- I was going to give it four stars because I would have like an additional feature - Tone/shock on a button. However, that feature is available on more expensive models, for a few bucks more, and that isn't the product that I chose.
