- Doesn't shake the table when sewing. Works quick or slow. Handles even tough stuff like Velcro.
- This Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machine had no trouble stitching thick fabric, without hesitation. The motor did not seem to be taxed at all and just breezed through the job. Impressive.
- Bought it for my wife. She loves it. Sewed some patches on a heavy leather best without issue.
- Gift for my mother in law. She loves it. Sews clothes and heavier duty items. She is able to do button holes and hems, and decorative stitching very easily. Very nice machine.
- Does not work with bigger spools of threat, only smaller ones.
- Unfortunately it doesn’t take heavy jeans material too well. I want to be specific on what it has trouble doing and that is: going over the seam where there’s usually 3 layers. So whenever I do go over seams I have to manually walk the foot over them and also be slow.
- Very fast compare to most manual machines, and definitely faster than any electronic. Unless you want to pay for a real commercial machine running into the thousands.
- For the speed this machine hardly moves, yes it's a little loud, but you can't have a work horse that's going to be quite. It runs about the same speed of my kenmore, but the kenmore vibrated real bad and it was even louder.
- The bobbin loading and winding is easy and fast. The Spool threading and needle threading is easy to use and simple. The machine is solid and heavy.
- To clean under the bobbin holder you have to remove the 2 screws holding the plate down, then 2 screws that hold the bobbin down.
- Very picky about the bobbin. It seems I can ONLY use the ones it came with, as with any other bobbins I have purchased cause tangle in the sew.
- Doesn't take up a lot of room. Comes with cover to prevent dust settling.
- Never used a machine before, but the 4522 has increased my output 1000%. So easy to use w/automatic threader; Im only there to push the pedal it does everything.
- Machine works well so far, it is much more rugged than most machines. It easily sewed velcro onto heavy duty tie-down straps. Was pleasantly surprised with it's abilities.
- I ordered this machine to hem jeans for customers and other heavy-duty fabric sewing. It feeds smoothly, runs fast, and is easy to use. I use it more than any of my other three machines. It does not have a lot of stitch choices, but my other machines do, so I didn't need that feature.
- The interior belt comes off every few hours of sewing. It happened exactly 31 days after purchase, Singer wouldn't help & it was out of warranty by 1 day. I ended up having to take the entire back off and leave it off to be able to access the belt inside.
- Not Heavy Duty. I have owned about three Singers in my lifetime and this is buy no means any more Heavy Duty than anyone I have owned in the past. It may look heavy duty because it is ugly but the quality is subpar.
- The movement of the foot "walking" seem solid. Stitches are even, once I figured out how to set it to where I wanted it for basic sewing.
- Nice feature is the see through bobbin window. You can gauge how much thread you have left on the bobbin instead of having to guess. That is a bonus. It is easy to fill a bobbin, too.
- Seams are straight and snug, and everything works the way it should. The features are terrific and controls are easy to use. Just need to make some kind of base for the pedal so it won't scoot around on the floor.
- I love the button feature and the top view bobbin. I do have to say that the foot pedal is a bit flimsy and occasionally there is a slight delay with the motor start up but overall I am very happy with it.
- This machine has the capability to change needle positions and lower the dog feed. These are very important features to me. It has 23 stitches, which I feel are more than enough.
- The light is terrible, but with a overhead light it's okay.
- No instructions on how or where to oil the machine, or any maintenance.I try to clean my machine at least every 8 hrs due to the amount of lint that gets in the machine.
