The Dremel tool itself is great and I really appreciate the variable speed settings.
It has plenty of power and the adjustable speed lets you tune the Dremel to the task at hand.
But this Dremel is powerful and has adjustable speed setting. It took me awhile shopping online and reading reviews to find a Dremel that would meet all my needs and this is definitely the one.
The tool doesn't have a lot of torque, so you need to let it operate at high speeds and let the rotational speed do the work.
I feel that it is worth the money to get your Dremel with a varible speed control. Speed does matter and it gives you something to play with when you get bored or just thinking things over.

The new speed control is semi-protected thus preventing accidental speed changes (nice improvement) also the speed control is separate from the on-off switch, also an improvement I think.
Very happy with this set ! It works perfectly .. love the variable speed .. use it often to do my wood carvings.
When my 40-something year old Dremel variable speed rotary tool finally gave out after, well, 40 years of nearly ceaseless use without so much as a brush change it was time to get serious about a replacement.
This drill has mass and power. It is variable speed and extremely comfortable to use.
Lowest rpm is unstable and randomly revs.

Dremel 4000-6/50 Variable Speed Rotary Tool

This unit works good. I previously had one of the original Dremels and finally had to replace it. They have made some real improvements. Nice size, weight and feel.
Not a commercial rotary tool but a light weight all around small task tool as in hobbyist tool.
It makes it hard to do some of the finer projects I was wanting to do because it's weight and size makes it awkward to handle.
The flex shaft is particually nice since it allows you to have a light weight tool in your hands for detail work.
I use this for my 2 Dremel work stations, drill press and router table, has the power the cordless doesn't, but the cordless is used more often for it's portability.

Only thing that I wish was better is the weight, it is some what heavy for doing very detailed work, that is why I brought the flexible shaft accessory.
Speaking as a woman with physical disabilities, it's the ideal rotary tool for me, because I don't have to put my weight behind it.
The rotary tool performs as expected, smooth, well balanced, easy to control.
The physical size will be an issue for certain uses, mainly the nose and overall diameter of the motor housing.

Comes with some nice attachments, can't wait to use the sharpener on my mower blades and see how well it works. Very pleased
This specific unit is extremely powerful, light, durable, and not too noisy. It includes a few bits which work well, but I wish i included more for the level of the kit.
The better tool ever for home or diy, probably doesn't works for heavy duty works. but so much accesories can be attached.
The tool is great the accesories are good but the only thing this that it did have the disk to cut wood that is my only fault with this product.
Great product; love that I finally have the full set with all possible attachments included in the package.

My favorite feature on this on is that you get separate switches for on/off and speed.
This unit is unexpectedly much larger than the original and be rather cumbersome to handle. It has lots of power.
Nice quality Dremel with much more power and torque than my older models. Use it with the 220-01 Workstation (press) to drill PC boards.
The more powerful motor is why this one is the one to buy if you use the tool a lot. It will not burn up the way cheaper units / off brands often do.
Extremely versatile and very easy to change accessories. Now I have two excellent Dremels, just need to add the Fortiflex Flex Shaft Tool and my collection will be complete!
Cooling fan is in the front and gets really hot making it hard to do any detail work for any time.

It feels solid in my hand and has good power for what it does.
As with all Dremel brand rotary tools, this is excellent construction, power, and versatility.
So I love the dremel (when it was working) great power, easy to use, simple, did everything I needed it to do, except power back up it just stopped working out of the blue and only used it a few times.
Be aware that you will lose some power with this extension, there were times when drilling and cutting that it would seize and I would have to turn it off, remove the tool, and start again moving slower.
It has plenty of power and the adjustable speed lets you tune the Dremel to the task at hand.
