This light isn't as bright as the four D cell that I have been carrying but it is lighter and quicker on the swing if I need it for defensive purposes.
Mag-Lite is indestructible. Not only is this a very bright light, but it can also be used as a self-defense tool, i.e., a club.
Love it works great! bright light and always working when you need it.
The only fault I can make about this light is that the LED bulb due to its design leaves a small circle of area in the center that is not lit as well as the penumbra.
The light looks more like that from run of the mill old filament bulb flashlights. This is a slim stick compared to the usual Maglite.

I purchased this for use at work. I need something that will be bright to spot any window open.
Gift for hubby for Fathers Day. He has wanted one for a long time. He loves it. It is very heavy which he thinks is good, really gives off the light.
This is a durable, reliable and very bright light. No problems with it at all.
This flashlight is amazing and well worth the money! It now stays in the bedroom with me.
What more could you want out of a flashlight, it's bright, has excellent Maglite build quality, and the batteries last forever.

This is a great flash light, Just the right size to fit the hand, comfortable checkered grip and a strong bright beam that is adjustable for distance or close up.
I have D size MagLites, but they are too big to handle. This is the perfect size. Highly recommend.
It is a comfortable size, well balanced, very powerful, and should last years and years.
The body diameter is not comfortable as it is too thick.
Always felt a little fat and clumsy in my smallish hands

Then there's the weight factor. Two D cell batteries weigh significantly more than two AA batteries, so bear that in mind when purchasing.
A big flashlight with a good weight to it. I will share something with you..
Great flashlight, although more for bashing things as the weight from the batteries makes this thing a formidable club.
Weighing in at a little over three pounds (with batteries), this bad boy is no light weight, but that's the point.
The momentum and weight of the light do all the work. Never swing the light at someone. It is too heavy and you run the risk of having it taken away.

I love this as a duty flashlight, but the rubber button that covers the switch is soft and flimzy, not as I remembered my prior maglites had.
The body diameter approximates a baton. It is long enough to double as a self-defense impact device, yet short enough to handle properly.
I bought several of these for gifts perfect for men and women too - sturdy will last a lifetime love this brand and the price was perfect thank you
Sturdy well made like all maglite products. Good lighting with adjustable beam. Also enough heft to but a lump on someones head if needed.
The tolerances are off leaving the reflector head feeling loose and the clicker on off button feels cheap, like it will break sooner than later.

The focus control looks like a funnel with the small end cut at 45 degrees.
It would be nice to have an "O-ring" engineered into it to control any escaping gases at the junction.
This is a very good all around flashlight really puts out good lighting and its nice to have a switch that you can control with the thumb with one hand holding the flashlight.
But if you want a really sturdy, and subsequently beefy flashlight (that will most certainly sink if dropped in water!), the Maglite is the way to go.
I think that MAGLITE should work on the quality control of its bulbs (which may be manufactured by someone for MAGLITE).

Bought four with batteries for family. Excellent flashlights that can also serve in self-defense.
The battery seems to be fine and changing which is next to the lamp made no difference.
The batteries last a long time as well.
It sucks up the batteries within a month or so, maybe less, but otherwise its a really good flashlight.

Battery life was not super great, but it was alright.
Seeing where you're going at night, and self defense, combined with an excessively long battery life, are the reasons for a 5 star on this.
I use the LED and get much more brightness with longer battery life. This is a durable, reliable and very bright light. No problems with it at all.
My kids call it a bear beater. I bought this large 4-D cell light, not for self defense or security, but for long battery life.
Not as bright as an led but definetly has longer battery life.
