General Specifications
About the Product
The Ikon is for true racers looking for a true lightweight race tire. With 3C Triple Compound Technology, high-volume casing and a fast rolling tread design, the Ikon provides exemplary performance in all riding conditions. As its name suggests, the Ikon represents all that is true in racing.
The Ignitor tread pattern was designed for the most discerning professional racers and has laid claim to multiple World Cup victories. The well-spaced tread pattern fills in nicely to provide low rolling resistance in the straights, while the ramped pentagonal knobs provide excellent traction in the corners and in medium soil.

What customers say about "Key Specs"
Maxxis Ikon (TR5173-Parent) 3C EXC EXO Folding Tire
- I feel so much more confident bombing into a turn and knowing these tires will not easily wash out.
- Unbelievable grip, low weight and low rolling resistance.
- Sets up easily with no tube. Has more volume than you'd think.
- Been riding these tires for over a month, really nice grip on front and rear. They don't seem to slide off of rocks as easily as other tires I've had.
- My issue is that they have failed on me enough times to know it's not a coincidence. They tear very very easily.
Maxxis Ignitor (TB69756900) Mountain Bike Tire
- This Tire is Perfect for my rear with very good trail control in hard-packed dirt and in the loose it wicks away finding the trail beneath, maintaining solid grip when I'm peadaling.
- Run really nicely on roads for knobby tires. They are good for when I have to ride quite a few miles on the road before reaching the trails.
- Plenty of grip, but its still easy to throw out the back of the bike and sweep turns at speed.
- I put 2.1's on figuring the width and the better then stock tread would be helpful. It did! I grip better in my turns, even then sharp downhill turns.
- They provide significant traction on sandy trails, glide through mud, and grip rocky terrain. The best upgrade to a mountain bike.

What customers say about "Features"
Maxxis Ikon (TR5173-Parent) 3C EXC EXO Folding Tire
- These tires allow seamless transitions to any lean angles during cornering with a very progressive bite.
- Havent had any issues with flats or tears. Super fast on concrete, asphault and hard pack.
- The raised center ridge provides smooth gliding on smooth surfaces and the aggressive outer tread digs in off road.
- For width, traction and weight these appear to be the best choice. She says they are very consistent and predictable in grip.
- It is extremely fast, and the EXO makes it very durable for such a light tire.
Maxxis Ignitor (TB69756900) Mountain Bike Tire
- Between trails it was actually comparably easier to roll with these instead of the standard almost no tread tires. They work great on everything except mud.
- They have great bite on the corners and don't slip easily over roots and rocks of Maine.
- Very consistent grip and very manageable when things get a little out of hand.
- Breaking is also good. They're fairly sticky when it comes to breaking.
- Best all-round tires I have ever used! Great bite in the corners and offers great traction while climbing even in muddy conditions.
