- I'm not necessarily saying being a snob is bad as I was a snob with cigars, but they would answer almost every question about should I buy this or that reflector or refractory scope with, neither buy a dobsonian.
- The optics are surprisingly crisp and clear and the two included eyepieces are pretty good.
- I'm adding to my review now because I just went out and viewed the moon this morning and I'm starting to really like the scope.
- This scope is on a Equatorial Mount which would be needed if you wished to take long exposure AstroPhotography or wanted to have a the telescope track objects in the sky without having to continually adjust.
- This telescope is wonderful and is versatile. It is a bright scope with a wide field of view. It is on a equatorial mount which if you plan on growing into the hobby will want to learn how to use.
- For an entry-level scope, it has me beyond impressed. Optical clarity on the included eyepieces was superb and the fine adjusting/tracking mechanisms were silky smooth.
- This is a wonderful starter scope. The only problem I have had is my bright surrounding and getting used to adjusting the EQ mound.
- Awsome scope for a beginner/amateur astronomer. First thing to replace after you become proficient is the mount.
- The optics are great, but you must remember everything is upside-down & backwards with this scope, so adjustment as you chase stars takes some practice.
- Its out 1st scope ever. I got it as a Christmas gift and we keep it at our cabin. We all saw things on the moon we have never seen before. Crazy clarity and closeness.
- The 25mm does great for general viewing and the 10mm did OK to get better detail on an object once I had it found with the 25mm eyepiece.
- This scope does a little bit of everything well enough and can let me grow or dabble into different areas without having to purchase another scope or added features.
- I agree if I had to do this a second time and I could probably do it in 15 by the second or third time. However, as a beginner with no prior experience, expect an hour to 1 1/2 hour to assemble.
- Every time you set this scope up, you will need to level the tripod and perform a polar alignment for the controls to work as designed.
- True to reviews, this telescope is wonderful and has a lot of add-on features that make it a worthwhile investment.
- Spherical abberation was plain as day when I finally got it perfectly collimated.
- For an entry-level scope, it has me beyond impressed. Optical clarity on the included eyepieces was superb and the fine adjusting/tracking mechanisms were silky smooth.
- Finally got it ready. I got it polar aligned and adjust the view finder.
- It was large enough optically to see most anything I wanted from in town.
- The scope is also pretty easy to operate and as it comes with an equitorial mount it's also easy to trace objects as they move across the sky.
- The tripod and mount went together easy, but it was obvious that it is economically built.
- It IS portable, if you take the tube and tripod/mount/counterweight apart before traveling.
- The EQ-2 mount can be wobbly if everything isn't completely torqued down.
- This is a manual mount, but there is a place for adding an optional motor. (Expandability is a nice feature!)
- The mount is sturdy and reliable and very easy to use.
- The equatorial (EQ) mount is a little wobbly and hard to use for the first time user.
- Awsome scope for a beginner/amateur astronomer. First thing to replace after you become proficient is the mount.
- The mount is a little too light weight for thise scope.
- The EQ-2 that Orion packageswith it is not that stable and wobbles a ton when trying to focus.
- Equitorial mount is sturdy, but is very sensitive and shakes a lot which makes it difficult to focus and track at higher magnifications.
