Sunbeam Steam Master 1400 Watt
Easy to Use
If you are looking for an affordable and reliable corded iron, the Sunbeam Steam Master may be perfect for you. This model comes with a retractable cord and allows storing it inside the base with just a quick press on a button. Moreover, such a cord is very convenient in management as you can retract it to the appropriate length.
The Sunbeam Steam Master has a smooth stainless steel soleplate that glides smoothly on any type of fabric, and even guards against the fabric wrinkling under its movement. A pointed tip allows you to iron pleats and move around buttons easily with no snagging.
You can also use the dual spray mist when you need to dampen the materials. So, even the most stubborn wrinkles will be removed with this reliable steam iron. The Sunbeam Steam Master also includes a dial on a grip handle that lets you avoid the accidental changing of preset settings.
Also, we would like to point out that this easy-to-use steam iron is a lightweight model with a comfortable grip so you won't get tired fast during the ironing, even during long sessions.
Heat Up
This steam iron takes slightly more time to heat up in comparison with most other models on our shortlist. But this factor doesn't have a negative impact on the steam output. With the Shot of Steam feature and a high-volume steam burst, it blasts away even extra-stubborn wrinkles.
Compared to the top-rated irons, this Sunbeam model loses some scores in terms of soleplate design. It has only 15 macro-sized steam holes on the soleplate, which are, however, evenly distributed to deliver good steam distribution.
Some Extras
The Sunbeam steam iron has got the same set of features that expensive units have. The continuous steaming mode will help you smooth out folds from the most delicate fabrics such as silk. This highly reliable model can also be used for quick ironing of clothes in an upright position so that you don't need to start a half-an-hour process but can get rid of unwanted wrinkles in a matter of minutes.
The Anti-drip system prevents the water from spilling when you need to iron at a low temperature. And the 3 Way Motion Smart technology stands for your safety, automatically turning the steam iron off in case it's been either tipped over or left on the garment or plugged in for some time not in use.
This combination of features and performance makes the Sunbeam Steam Master iron a great model for everyday use.

Sunbeam GCSBCS-200-000
A Bit of Extra Power
The GCSBCS-200-000 is the model that tops the list of not only Sunbeam irons but also many other professional-grade models from popular brands at a higher cost. Let's see why.
First and foremost, the Sunbeam iron packs more power than most of its "siblings", which allows it to deliver faster and finer results. To give you the gist, it boasts 1500 watts of power so it can produce copious amounts of steam and smooth out even the worst wrinkles in your garments. Is it safe to use with all types of fabric? Definitely, yes - it's made with a variable steam selector to let you choose the temperature according to the fabric type. Additionally, the iron has the Shot of Steam button that releases a quick, powerful burst of steam to relax even the most stubborn creases.
Not dissimilar to other full-size irons, the GCSBCS-200-000 features vertical steam shots. However, take note that due to the solid weight of the iron, some users might find it a bit of a workout to use it for vertical steaming for more than a few minutes.
A slightly extended weight is partly achieved owing to its large water tank of 10.42 oz. This means that you will be able to steam longer with this guy, which would be a good point in anyone's book.
And A Bit More Coverage
It's not only the tank of the iron that adds to its weight. The unit is also featured with an extra-large stainless steel soleplate, which makes it slightly hefier, but at the same time provides more coverage for faster ironing results. Besides, owing to its overal weight, the iron almost doesn't require pressure so you can effectively remove wrinkles without breaking a sweat.
Despite its respectful weight, this iron is still pretty agile and can easily smooth fine details on collars, cuffs, lapels and areas around buttons thanks to its pointed tip. An extra long 10-foot 360° swivel cord adds to the maneuverability of the iron, providing enough flexibility and preventing twisting or tangles. Do note that the cord is not rectractable, however, if you aren't going to keep it in plain sight, this shouldn't be a problem.
In all, the Sunbeam GCSBCS-200-000 is definitely a good choice for customers that often do a lot of ironing and are looking for a model to make this task more bearable, effective, and quicker. Its extra-long cord allows for convenient positioning of the ironing board, its extra-powerful steam helps with the worst of wrinkles, and its extra-large soleplate delivers faster results. Win-win.

Sunbeam Classic GCSBCL-317-000
Entry-level Model
If you're in the market for a frills-free Sunbeam steamer for basic touch-ups and other light ironing jobs, the GCSBCL-317-000 is worth your closer consideration. For under $30, this classic steam iron doesn't offer any bells and whistles but works satisfactorily and does its main job as expected.
Fitted with a non-stick soleplate, it glides well over any type of fabric and smoothes out wrinkles quickly and efficiently. It heats up fine and performs well on the basic wool/cotton settings. However, on the highest settings, it may be not hot enough for de-wrinkling denim and other dense materials. This happens due to low power capacity that makes only 1200 Watts.
For the same reason, the boiler takes considerable time to heat up. The iron requires more than standard 2 minutes to generate the steam. But if you ask us to comment on how well it produces steam, our answer would be "as good as more pricey Sunbeam models".
Just like other reviewed irons, this one features Spray Mist and Shot of Steam functions. So, you can either use a powerful water mist to aid in setting creases or an extra burst of steam to remove the most stubborn wrinkles. The water tank must be at least 1/4 full of water and, what is quite handy, the opaque body makes the water fill line easy to see.
Design Peculiarities
But what we didn't like about the iron's design is the placement of the on/off switch. It's just a cheap lever you should move up and down that is inconveniently located underneath the handle. Therefore, it might be hard to manipulate the lever to turn on/off the unit. It would be better if the manufacturer had used the on/off button and placed it on the front part. This is the area where the iron needs some improvement.
Other than that, we haven't noticed any other design flaws. The iron is of perfect weight (2.38 lbs) to let you iron quite a lot of laundry. For quicker results, we would recommend you to sort garments by fabric type and start with those that require low-temperature setting.
When changing from a high setting to a lower one, the iron needs a 5-minute rest, so it's better to gradually work up the temperature range rather than decrease it.
Maintaining the Iron
The Sunbeam GCSBCL-317-000 is backed with the all handy features to make maintenance safer and easier. Just like its more pricey counterparts, it's backed with a timed auto-off system (30 minutes), anti-drip system, and self-clean system. The self-clean system will remove the mineral build-up inside the iron for longer-lasting steam performance. It's recommended to use this feature once a month to maintain the peak performance of the iron.
While the Sunbeam GCSBCL-317-000 iron lacks some extra functions and is not very powerful, it offers all the basic features you may expect from an entry-level model. With its vertical steaming function, variable fabric settings, and an extra blast of steam option, it's an ideal iron for light jobs.

Sunbeam Steam Master GCSBCL-202-000
Compact and Handy
The easy-gliding Sunbeam GCSBCL-202-000 Steam Master iron is a moderately-priced product that boasts extra power and extra steam output to help you make your garments look their best. With 1400 Watts of power and variable steam control, it can remove wrinkles quickly and easily.
It's slightly smaller than most other full-size Sunbeam irons and a bit easier to handle. Plus, it has a smaller water tank but high power capacity, which makes it ready for use quicker than standard models. It heats up in less than a minute and is capable of producing loads of steam. By the way, the water tank has a cover over the fill hole and is very easy to fill with bottled water.
The product offers variable steam for different fabrics. And when the fabric select dial is set to wool, cotton, or linen, you can benefit from using the additional shot of steam. The extra-powerful jet of steam will penetrate deeper into fibers to smoothen out even the most stubborn wrinkles.
To freshen up hanging clothes, upholstery, or drapery, the iron can function vertically as a garment steamer. However, the vertical steaming feature can bring you a number of splotches if the water tank is full. So we would recommend you to keep the water level a bit lower than 8/10ths of the fill line.
About Design
The color of this iron is striking and fresh, which makes the iron look quite modern. But beyond great aesthetics, you get some features that contribute to the ease of use.
For one, the iron features a pointed tip helping with detailing collars, cuffs, lapels, areas around buttons, and inside pleats. Also, this iron will be of great use for those who do a lot of quilting. They will always get flat and beautiful seams using this.
For two, the long 8-foot power cord can be retracted for neat storage. No more winding up the wire or tripping over it and pulling it down. The retractable feature is especially useful when the day gets busy. The only complaint is that it does make the unit pretty tall.
No Worries
The Sunbeam Steam Master 1400 Watt mid-size iron has almost everything to make operation worry-free. Backed with the Anti-drip technology, it ensures no leaks and accordingly no mess for hassle-free ironing.
Also, no burns or pulls. It uses the non-stick soleplate that glides easily over fabrics and prevents creases as you are ironing. Plus, the soleplate comes with a lifetime warranty, which is a good judgment of product quality.
For extra protection, the item is fitted with 3-way motion smart auto-off function. Therefore, the iron will be switched off if left unattended or set in an improper position.
With an anti-drip feature, quick heat-up time, pulls-free ironing, and 3-way motion smart technology, the morning rush will go smoother than ever. So, we would definitely recommend this iron for busy households.

What Are Sunbeam Steam Irons?
Sunbeam is a big name on the market that has been around for more than 100 years now. And over these years, the company has been awarded and recognized. This is an American brand that produces high-quality electric home appliances widely used all over the world. Through cutting-edge innovation and intelligent design, the company aims to make it easier for customers to do their household chores, and ironing is one of them.
Knowing that your time is precious, Sunbeam folks develop innovative steam irons to keep your garments look perfect in the fastest and the most efficient way possible. The Sunbeam irons boast advanced technologies and ergonomic design to deliver you top-notch performance. For this review, we managed to pick the best of the best irons in different price points to suit any need and budget.
And to make the process more convenient, you can get a new, high-quality ironing board.
What Features to Compare
Type
When it comes to Sunbeam steam irons, you don't get the basic choice between corded and cordless models. Currently, the Sunbeam company produces only corded models that are quite powerful and provide continuous heat-up. Accordingly, they allow you to iron for as long as you need without interruptions. All the reviewed models feature a long cord and do not limit you in movements that much.
However, with Sunbeam you get the option to choose between full-size and portable irons. Full-size models come with more capacious water tanks and usually provide more power and steam output. They are a bit pricier but more functional. As for portable models, they are great for travel use. They are compact and sufficiently powerful to tackle most ironing jobs whilst traveling. Plus, they can support the 110-220 Volt range, which makes them ideal for use overseas.
Convenience of Use
The weight and the size of a steam iron are very important factors for comfortable use. If the iron is too hefty, your hands can get tired pretty fast, which can become a dealbreaker if you often iron large butches of clothing per one go. That said, if the steam iron too light, it might be difficult for you to iron dense and heavy fabrics.
Soleplate
The soleplate design is also worth your consideration. The manufacturer uses a variety of materials for its irons - ceramics, stainless steel, and aluminum. Irons with ceramic soleplates are the most sophisticated and pricey. They fall into "the premium category" and ensure smoother glide and faster results as compared to other models.
Stainless steel soleplates ensure high-quality ironing too, however, they distribute heat a bit slower and deliver not that smooth results.
Soleplates made of aluminum are the cheapest option. They have good scratch- and scuff-resistance properties but considered to be a bit outdated. They are usually found in low-end irons.
Extras
Sunbeam steam irons are backed with lots of useful features, so you should think which of them you really need.
- Shot of steam delivers an extra-powerful burst of steam to tackle tough wrinkles. This function is very useful if you often deal with linen or heavy fabrics.
- Vertical steam is important for de-wrinkling drapes, upholstery, or long garments on hangers.
- Auto shut-off will turn off the iron after some time of non-use. The most sophisticated models come with 3-way shut off function that powers off the iron if it's left in an incorrect position.
- Anti-drip prevents water spilling and leaking from steam vents while ironing.
- Self clean system can help you remove the mineral build-up from the water boiler for longer-lasting steam performance.
Did you know?
The Long and Bumby History of Sunbeam
Sunbeam, or to be more exact Sunbeam Products, is an American company that has been producing home appliances for more than 100 years now. During this time, the brand has endured a long history of growth, bankruptcy, and struggles.
The brand has evolved from the Chicago Flexible Shaft Company that originally made horse trimming and sheep shearing equipment. In 1921, the said company produced the first Sunbeam-branded household appliance. It was the Princess Electric Iron. The name "Sunbeam" appeared because the company wanted to rebrand its growing home appliance business and made people to understand their new concept. However, the Chicago Flexible Shaft company didn’t officially change its name to Sunbeam until 1946. That’s when the brand developed the slogan "Best Electric Appliances Made".
The rapid growth of the company and its product range falls to the 1950s - 1960s. And by the end of the 1970s, it became the leading American manufacturer of small appliances for everyday life. However, by the end of the 20th century, Sunbeam was in severe crisis. The company had to be filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2001.
In 2002, the company emerged from bankruptcy but already as a privately-held company, American Household, Inc. Its household products division turned into the subsidiary Sunbeam Products, Inc. Today, the company is successful again. It's awarded and recognized all across the globe.
Ironing Tips from Sunbeam
Knowing everything about steam ironing, the Sunbeam company not only produces high-quality irons but is also ready to give some useful advice on clothes care. Here are some tips you may find helpful:
Before ironing garments, check their label and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If there’re no ironing instructions, start with the lowest heat setting and test by ironing a small area. If everything is ok, gradually increase the heat level.
For better management, sort clothes by their fabric type and start with items requiring low-temperature settings and then work up the temperature range.
When using steam function, go with long, slow passes over the garments to allow the heated steam to penetrate and the heat of the soleplate to dry the excess moisture.
It’s better to iron linen inside out to prevent shine. Also, you can use a special ironing cloth or cotton fabric to reduce shine.
Before ironing, make sure that all the zippers are closed and the flap is flat.
Utilizing a spray starch can make the job easier.
