Attention to Details
Is the model from Storage Maniac conceptually different from any other countertop ironing board? Not really, no. That said, if we had to make the choice, we'd say that this is the best tabletop ironing board on the market right now. For the most part, it is the attention to details on the manufacturers' side that makes it just a bit better than most of what we've seen so far.
For example, instead of your average foam pad, the model comes with a thin and anti-perm cushion. It is breathable, durable, and a real pleasure to use. But it isn't just the little things that count.
Though small in size, we wouldn't call the reticulated porous design of the board small or insignificant. It may not seem like much but the design choice allows for good vapor permeability and heat dissipation, making this ironing board a bit more effective and practical.
Like most of these models, the product in question features foldable legs with non-skid feet. The feet will let you place the board on any hard surface. While the foldable construction of those legs, in general, will allow you to tuck the board away anywhere.
Finally, any ironing board is only as good as its cover. Which is why the people behind this product decided to go with a removable and washable cotton cover. It looks nice, it has a high temperature resistance, it is quite soft, and it will not deform.
Again, if we were somehow forced to make the decision, we would choose the model from Storage Maniac as the best tabletop ironing board. Among other things, the smart and well-thought-out design of this thing will allow you to use it as a laptop desk or even a bed desk. It can do just about everything short of ironing the clothes for you.

Honey-Can-Do BRD-01435
A Dorm Room Solution
The Honey-Can-Do BRD-01435 may not be the shortest board out there as those 32 inches in length make her as long (or even longer) as the majority of tabletop models. Nevertheless, this is still one of the better options for dorm rooms and small studio apartments.
The overall design of this board isn't foldable but rather collapsible. Instead of a set of legs, the frame features a simple extension that you can retract and push back in whenever you want. This way, it stores easily as a closet ironing board, which can be a more sensible and space-saving options for a lot of people.
Having said that, it isn't the only tabletop ironing board with a collapsible design on our list, so that's not the only good thing about this model. What we liked in particular is a retractable metal iron nest. It's a simple but very convenient solution that holds your iron as you prepare the next clothing item. It isn't convenient just because it is practical but also because it prevents scorching.
Other than that, there isn't much to cover here. The metal frame is sturdy and wide. Some may see the length of the board as a downside but it does provide plenty of ironing surface and that's always a plus. To rephrase our earlier point, the Honey-Can-Do BRD-01435 is your best bet if you live in a small apartment or a dorm. It will easily allow you to save some space and it will definitely make the whole ironing process just a bit more convenient.
Whitmor 6152-5290
Your Clothes are Safe
Even with the most high-end steam iron, the ironing process isn't quite as safe as we would like it to be. For the most part, you could still easily burn your clothes or cause some sort of a minor accident. But with this ironing board from Whitmor, the chances of that happening will be as low as they can get.
First, the board features a steel mesh top. Aside from its durable composition, this material has vented holes that enhance steam flow. It's not a game changer by any stretch of the imagination. But it will allow you to remove wrinkles just a bit faster, which is always a plus. Aside from the steel mesh top, the model comes equipped with a scorch-resistant cotton cover and a foam pad, further reducing your chances of accidentally burning your favorite clothes.
Considering the size of this tabletop ironing board, it is certainly not a bad choice for smaller spaces. The steel legs are foldable. Plus, they feature non-skid protectors, so you won't be limited in your surface options. There's also a retractable metal hook that adds further options in terms of storage. But, given that the whole thing weighs just a smidge above 2 pounds, this is also a great travel model.
All in all, the versatility of this portable ironing board is its biggest strength. The construction is solid and durable. The design is practical. You can put it anywhere or take the board with you on your travels. Plus, it is a safer choice than most other tabletop models.

Like most of these boards, the product in question features a foldable/collapsible design with flat folding legs. But it also comes equipped with a convenient pop-up bracket so it'll only fold when you want it to.
The size of this thing also makes it a great secondary option to a freestanding ironing board. Its small ironing surface is particularly suitable for touch-ups, including pressing seams, collars, cuffs, and sleeves.
In short, there's a lot to like about this portable ironing board from Household Essentials. The tapered head and the overall slim design will allow you to handle any garment with ease. Camco 43904
A Mobile Unit
We liked Camco 43904 for its simplicity. Though it isn't the most compact ironing board, the legs are foldable and so is the board itself. It folds down to about 16" x 12", so you should easily be able to find enough storage room for it. Furthermore, the said legs feature non-skid feet, so you could even put it on some of the more slippery surfaces and it should be able to stand its ground, literally speaking. There is a fabric cover that makes it easy to use the board.
There's also a soft padding, though it is rather thin, so it won't really do much. But, just because the model is simple, that doesn't mean that it is basic. For instance, it comes equipped with a retractable chrome-wire iron rest. The composition makes it durable and the retractable design makes it quite practical. You can put your iron there as you change the clothing items, which isn't just convenient but smart as, this way, there's less of a chance that you'll scorch your clothes. All of it makes up for the model's relatively large size and makes this board a pretty great choice for traveling and camping purposes.
Again, there's nothing complicated about the Camco 43904 and that's a good thing. This tabletop ironing board is perfect for RVs. It is really easy to use. Which is great since this is an essential household item, so just about anybody will be able to find some use for it.

What Is a Tabletop Ironing Board?
A classic ironing board is a very simple construction that doesn't really require any explanation pertaining to its purpose. And, as you would imagine, there isn't that much of a difference between that standard, freestanding board and a tabletop one. Though the latter generally won't provide you with as much ironing space, tabletop boards are also far more compact. Using these small and portable tables, you'll be able to save quite a lot of space. If you live by yourself or your family simply doesn't wear that many clothing items that require ironing, a tabletop ironing board is easily the most rational choice. Their small and compact design will allow you to tuck any one of these models away and you won't have to think about storage space. And even though there's a bit of a difference between these countertop boards, including the cover, padding and the construction, pretty much all of them are lightweight enough for you to easily install one on a hard surface. They're not particularly expensive and, while they might not look like it, most of these boards are surprisingly sturdy.
While we're on the subject of ironing, there's a good chance that your old iron has lived well past its prime and is in a dire need of a replacement. So you could check out our review of steam irons. And if you'd like to save even more time on ironing, a steam press will do the trick.
Did you know?
Nowadays, people often neglect ironing their clothes. And, honestly, we don't feel like shaming them for it. It's not really the most fun process out there. It is a tedious and monotonous activity that always takes a certain amount of time out of your busy schedule. But if you would like to keep a sharp appearance, ironing your clothes is still something that you have to do. Fortunately, it isn't difficult. But if you don't have a lot of experience with it, here are a few tips that might help you keep your clothes neat and your fingers safe.
Sort Your Clothes by Fabric
Whether you have a lot of clothing items in your wardrobe or you're the type of person to wear the same kind of jeans and shirt every day of the week, you should still understand the differences between fabrics and materials. Though they might look and feel similar, different fabrics require different ironing approach. Generally speaking, if you're going to iron a whole pile of clothes, you want to start with the ones that work with the lowest heat setting. The list of these fabrics includes wool, silk, rayon, and acetate.
That said, there's a bit of a difference even between these materials. Before you start ironing wool items, you might want to put a piece of cloth between the said item and the iron. You won't have to do anything like that with acetate. But you will have to turn the rayon and silk clothing items inside out beforehand, unless you feel like ruining your favorite clothes.
Once you're done with these articles of clothing, you can move to the ones that require more heat. With polyester, a medium heat setting is your best bet. And if you're dealing with cotton, don't feel shy to turn those heat settings as high as you can. Though do make sure to slightly damp both of these types of clothes prior to ironing.
Make Sure that the Iron is Ready
It may sound obvious but different irons have different indicators, so it isn't always that easy to tell whether your own appliance is ready to work. Some have a specific light that will turn or on off when the iron is ready. Others have an icon that will indicate the status of the iron. Regardless of the model that you're dealing with, you should always wait until the iron is ready to begin. It won't lead to a catastrophe of galactic proportions but you won't get any result from a cool iron either.
Separate Clothes by Categories
Just like there's a difference between fabrics, the same can be said about different types of clothes. For example, when you iron a shirt, it is always a good idea to start at the collar. The center of the underside of that collar should be your starting point. Once you're done with, you can work your way to the edge. After that, you should move back to the center and go to the other edge.
With pants, you want to start from the waist and move to the leg. If those pants of yours have pockets, you ought to start with them. Just make sure to turn those pockets inside out.
Ironing skirts and dresses is similar to shirts. You start at the collar and then you move your way down. Of course, that doesn't apply to skirts. With them, you should drape the skirt over the board and iron upward.
Don't Push Your Luck
Of course, you shouldn't forget about safety measures. While we aren't going to cover most of it since safety measures deserve their own entry, remember to keep the children away from the iron, let it cool off for at least 10 minutes before you put it away and, given the chance, always go for the iron with built-in safety features.
