Subwoofer placement is critical , it is more directional than a standard subwoofer and you can easily sense where the lower frequencies are coming from.
Sounds great, looks great. Yamaha quality, almost perfect, i'm not dissapointed.
This is my first sound bar purchase; I've always used the old school two front speaker, rear, and sub-woofer, and I feel that this bar can replace the front two speakers and my Energy sub-woofer.
The subwoofer will activate and play back anything ONLY if the audio uses frequencies that are sufficiently "low" to bother passing them to the subwoofer.
Basically, the bass crossover frequency falls right smack in the middle of the frequencies used by dialogue voices.

Its bass extension boosts low bass levels for a remarkable powerful sound.
Powerful wireless subwoofer rocks.
It had a great sound and was well powered.
It sounds really fantastic at higher volumes, but at lower volumes certain frequencies noticeably clip in and out, which is annoying.
Yamaha quality, Almost perfect, but the low frequency crossover is right in the middle of the speech range... hearing voices pop in and out of the sub mid sentence is jarring.
Basically, the bass crossover frequency falls right smack in the middle of the frequencies used by dialogue voices.

I'm a bit of a munimumalist and a sound snob. I don't like a lot of big speakers and rack units in my house. My living room isn't huge but still has plenty of size to it.
For the size of the whole unit, it's amazing how much sound(and how great of quality) comes out of it.
The bar itself is a nice size, especially for the sound puts out compared to its size is unbelievable.
if you don't want to waste your money trying other sound options and you have a small to medium size room, buy this.
We were not expecting a full size subwoofer with this bar. How surprised were we when we unpacked the box! Full size subwoofer that is awesome sounding.

Full size subwoofer that is awesome sounding.
I am very pleased with the sound production from this bar based on the price and size.
In my moderately sized room, the sound bar can easily be too loud, and produces a reasonable amount of bass.
Did not have room for my full-size stereo and speaker set up and this has proven itself to be the perfect addition to my television.
Best for a small to medium size room.

The clarity is incredible, though keep in mind positioning in a suboptimal place will affect sound quality.
If your looking for value with good sound this is the soundbar to choose. The bass output is great and has punch to it as well as providing nice deep bass.
The LEDs can be adjusted to bright, medium bright, or set to no light at all.
I really like the LED indicators on the front of the bar which show the current settings that the bar is configured to i.e. volume levels and surround sound led indicator.
It's nice that the changes in subwoofer or soundbar volume are easily visible on the front of the soundbar, via LEDs (which you can turn off, if you find the lights distracting).

Easy, straightforward setup. Simple update procedure via USB stick.
Very rich sound in 3D Surround mode, both for music and movies.
There is dedicated Yamaha app to control soundbar's settings from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. You'd need to download it free from Apple or Android Play store.
Dolby plus input did not give any sound, had to downgrade to dolby.
The Yamaha (iOS) Home theatre controller app leaves a lot to be desired.

The pairing of the Bluetooth was easy as there is a button on the remote to enable it.
There is dedicated Yamaha app to control soundbar's settings from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone.
The fact that you can play music through the system from any Bluetooth device was a pleasant surprise.
The Bluetooth works really well as does the app to control the sound bar if you don’t want to use the remote provided.
I have a problem just getting the Bluetooth connections to work on the subwoofer.

You have to connect to Bluetooth and then you can fire up the app and select Clear Voice and 3d Surround and you will be all set!
It transmits 4K HDR video. There is an ARC-HDMI output jack.
My only let down and reason for 3 stars is because the subwoofer sounds under powered while playing music thru Bluetooth.
The only drawback that I see - lack of Wi-Fi connectivity.
Did NOT come with a HDMI cable.
