- The S1 will only provide yardages to the front, center and back of the green. If you play most of your golf on courses that you aren't familiar with, this is probably not the GPS unit you're looking for.
- For those who are looking for minimal distractions while the game is flowing, this watch feels just right. I don't like fiddling with devices and especially while playing (and hopefully concentrating)
- The yardage seems to be pretty close, maybe a yard or two different from the markers. It's very comfortable to wear and I have very small wrists.
- The watch works beautifully. Of course it would not help me recover if I got lost on the course, but all I really need are distances.
- I previously tried a free app. on my android phone and it was very sporadic in it's ability get a GPS signal. I gave up with this and took the jump to a dedicated item.
- Small, lightweight, easy to read, and always on and have distances right there with you without having to wake the device or advance holes.
- This Garmin has an improved replaceable strap. It gets a GPS signal much faster than my old one.
- It gives accurate yardage to the green, it's a snap to use, it's very comfortable to wear.
- This watch is very accurate - I have checked it against GPS devices in golf carts.
- The GPS picked up the signal right away I pressed the "ok" button to start the round and off we go.
- The display is very readable in bright sunlight and the battery life seems completely adequate.
- The main display shows the greens center in large numbers, the front and back are displayed in smaller font.
- The watch is very good at clearly displaying the correct course and distances to front, centre and back of greens.
- This Garmin displays tiny dots to represent what par is, but you can't input anything, not even a simple stroke count.
- Display is easy to read in bright sunlight even without my reading glasses. Not having to worry about leaving it in the cart or somewhere else is a big plus.
- The screen also has better contrast and is easier to read.
- The function buttons are more responsive and screen is clearer.
- The pixels are fine. I had no problem seeing the distances in the sun or the shade and found the resolution just fine.
- It shows the green area very clear and also it is very easy to read the display.
- Setup is easy and the display is large and easy to read. I'm very pleased with this item.
- The S1 is compact, accurate, very user friendly and convenient to use. There is no pre-game "set up".
- Now, for the battery's unexpected good performance. As I said, I was leery of the potential poor battery performance and so charged the watch and only turned it on when we were ready to tee off.
- This unit seems to work fine (just one round so far, since golf season is about over here in northern Ohio). Garmin's service has unfailingly been fast and courteous.
- The charging system could be better engineered but this problem is minor compared to the benefits the unit provides.
- The minor issue is the poorly designed charging arrangement, there must be a better way to connect a USB cable to the watch.
- I really like this. The battery life is great. Before the round I turn it on, it finds the course I am on and downloads it.
- After my round i think it used about a third of the battery, so if we were to plays another 18 i think the watch would perform just fine.
- Great product. Very simple to operate and very accurate! Shot measurement, score keeping and pedometer are great bonus features.
- The USB charging allows the batteries to be recharged anywhere!
- Durable design survives water, sweat, sand and other elements.
- The device worked very well during the first 12-15 months. Then, the battery started dying after just 2 to 3 hours of play.
