About the Product
Canon created the PowerShot D20 to be the tough, practical companion you'll want to bring on all your outdoor adventures, making it possible to capture truly impressive stills and video while doing what you love. Scuba dive, snorkel, paddle surf and more: the camera is waterproof all the way to 33 feet. Performance is fast and reliable in temperatures from 14° to 104°F, so it's safe for everything from winter sports to summer hiking. Shockproof up to 5.0 feet, the PowerShot D20 is also able to survive the accidental falls and bumps inherent to mountaineering, biking, and other outdoor activities.
Need a camera that can keep up with your adventurous lifestyle? The tough and sporty PowerShot D30 is the ideal choice for intrepid types who often find themselves outdoors, underwater or in extreme situations. The PowerShot D30 dives to a full 82 feet for excellent scuba and snorkeling flexibility. Bikers, hikers, skiers and climbers can also confidently pack the PowerShot D30 to document the day's action: the camera is shockproof to 6.5 feet, and temperature resistant all the way from 14° to 104°F*. The camera's built-in GPS** tracker records the location and time of all the images and videos you capture, and the new Sunlight LCD mode makes it easy to see the monitor even on bright, sunny days. Whether you're underwater or on dry land, images are beautifully clear, steady and loaded with detail and natural color thanks to the Canon HS SYSTEM and Intelligent IS. When you're too busy to choose camera settings, Smart AUTO does it for you by automatically recognizing 32 predefined shooting situations, capturing the best quality with every shot.

- Tough compact design. Actually fits in your pocket!
- Compact camera that has a nice display and takes good pics.
- The size is nice and compact. Not too bulky.
Canon PowerShot D30 Waterproof Digital Camera

- Takes better pictures than I thought it would very wel compact
- It is very compact and i find myself using it instead of my more bulky, heavy and expensive S95 setup.
- Overall good waterproof camera, but it is a little heavy for camera

What customers say about "Imaging"
Canon PowerShot D20 Waterproof Digital Camera with 5x Image Stabilized Zoom
- 1080/24p video with autofocus. Tons of other video options, multiple frame rates, super slow motion
- Low light performance, even under water is very good (not quite as good as the non rugged point and shoots, but still very good)
- Video options are good. I like the 120fps mode in particular - got some unique cool shots.
- Indoor, outdoor and low light images are great bordering on fantastic. Does pretty well on the Fireworks setting too. Gives other PowerShot models a run for the money.
- Horrible in low light, not even worth bringing to an indoor party.
- Flash seems a little underpowered, but not too much of an issue yet.
Canon PowerShot D30 Waterproof Digital Camera
- High ISO performance is typical of a point and shoot with a lot of noise.
- The digital zoom function on this camera is unbelievable. I can stand on a rig floor and zoom in to the crown sheaves at the top of the derrick (0ver 200' away) and clearly see tar buildup and make a decision to go up and take a closer look.
- The camera performed well and the pics shot in underwater macro mode had excellent resolution.
- The underwater mode did a great job at taking out the blue cast on both still photos and videos
- The subaquatic mode (software filter) really WORKS! Kudos Canon, colours pop out as if the camera had a strobe attached; most of my underwater pictures were GREAT without any tweaks, just point that turtle and shoot.
- If you get it, use the lowest ISO setting, keep the lens dry, and ask Mr Sun to shine down on you!

What customers say about "Display"
Canon PowerShot D20 Waterproof Digital Camera with 5x Image Stabilized Zoom
- The screen is very bright at the default middle setting. It is bright enough that it was not necessary to brighten it while underwater. It is very clear and easy to look at.
- The screen is big on this camera which is great underwater and will be buying a camera float strap soon cuz this camera will be on all my hiking trips in Trinidad.
- The larger screen is good for my failing sight....I can actually see what I'm shooting.
- Screen is pretty much invisible underwater, even on full brightness. Not sure how other cameras fare, but probably similarly.
- The biggest downfall was I could not see the preview screen underwater so I had to aim blindly and shoot.
Canon PowerShot D30 Waterproof Digital Camera
- The reason I waited for, and paid more for this camera than the competition or the D20 was the "Sunlight LCD Mode" We live in Florida, and I do a lot of shooting at the beach/pool, and in heavy sun. I have never had an LCD screen that can be clearly seen in the sun.
- I found the Sunlight LCD mode didn't use much more battery juice but it allowed me to transition very easily from underwater to a white sand tropical beach and still see the subject just fine.
- There was also water/fogging present in the LCD screen and the lens.
- I took just a few pictures and the LCD screen went black. I couldn't see what I was shooting, which made the camera useless.

What customers say about "Protection"
Canon PowerShot D20 Waterproof Digital Camera with 5x Image Stabilized Zoom
- I have tested it down to ~20ft underwater and it held tight. Got some great fish pictures!
- I like that it is approved for a depth up to 33ft. Some of the other waterproof cameras I came across were only approved for up to 16ft.
- The waterproof nature makes it perfect for any situation where rain and splash are issues, and is also relatively resistant to condensation in humid environments.
- We bought this camera because it is waterproof and shockproof and it is definitely both of those. It works great in the water and seems very solid.
- Canon D20 comes with GPS, it is waterproof to 33 feet of depth, freezeproof, and shockproof.
Canon PowerShot D30 Waterproof Digital Camera
- It's waterproof! I don't know how they did it. The quality is good enough for me
- Highly recommended shockproof and waterproof cam, ive had 3 and this is the best yet!
- You can only go to 82 feet with the D30, but it's pretty rare these days where we dive deeper than 80 feet.
- So when I saw that this one was waterproof to 80ft, shockproof from 6 feet and integrated GPS into the photo's, it was a done deal. Excellent build quality.
- We used this camera at an outdoor summer camp as the thing loaned out to volunteer picture takers. It survived with flare. Mud, dust, dirt, rain, smoke, water, fish, kids, lunch -- it handled everything.

What customers say about "Connectivity"
Canon PowerShot D20 Waterproof Digital Camera with 5x Image Stabilized Zoom
- GPS: Works I guess. It has a little trouble getting a signal inside, and this is my first camera with GPS, so I'm not sure how accurate it should be. But it was able to record the coordinates of my outdoor shots (though not all of my indoor shots).
- It connected easily to my new i-pad, connector sold separately.
- You can also find an inexpensive (under $4) HDMI Mini to HDMI cable to hook this camera up directly to your TV to showcase your HD footage.
- The GPS uses a LOT of battery power.
- The USB cable provided cannot be used for XP. The software runs on XP but the cammera will not connect using it.
Canon PowerShot D30 Waterproof Digital Camera
- The GPS feature is handy for figuring out where I was when I took the picture
- I like the new GPS tagging, it comes in handy (turing GPS and tagging on an off is a bit clumsy, but not awful).
- only thing that i did not like was the fact that it does not bring integrated WIFI so in order to shar the pics u need to wait to get to a computer or pass it though the memory card

What customers say about "Power"
Canon PowerShot D20 Waterproof Digital Camera with 5x Image Stabilized Zoom
- With a full charge I took 150 photos and about 30 mins of videos and still had 1 of 3 power bars leftover (approximately 33%? remaining life).
- Battery life was super long. I even had the GPS on most of the time and it wasn't anything I couldn't handle by charging it up every other night. And I took somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 photos and 10 videos on that trip.
- The picture quality is exceptional and the battery life is about 500 pictures.
- Battery life. Very good considering it has no optical viewfinder, meaning the LCD is constantly on.
- Battery life isn't great, especially while using GPS
Canon PowerShot D30 Waterproof Digital Camera
- Battery life is good. I have taken 250 still shots, about 5 minutes of video, kept the camera on for quite a while between shots, reviewed a lot of photos, and the indicator finally dropped to 2/3 charge.
- The battery lasts a pretty long time and the pictures and videos came out great - excellent color correction!!
- Long battery life. I charged mine after six dives just to make sure, but it may have lasted longer.
- Battery last over a full week of vacation.
