What customers say about "Key Specs"
Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 G2 Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Nikon Mount
- I can compare it to my Nikon 24-120 F4 and I have to say it MUCH sharper and color rendering is way better.
- Great, fast, all-purpose lens, got it for my D750. Smooth zoom ring and great color rendition. Worth the price!
- Read the great reviews on the Tammy and thought it was finally time to step up to a 2.8. I have been very impressed so far, handling is excellent, autofocus fast and smooth, and sharpness wide open is very good.
- I also overjoyed with the VC feature. It's apparent in the viewfinder, but its strength is even more apparent in the shots. I cooked up a few very contrived cases to test it and the harshest was f2.8 @ 70mm, at 1/4 sec shutter speed. I could see no apparent motion blur. That's impressive.
- Simply a fantastic lens. crystal clear pictures at many different settings in low light with no flash. perfect, no complaints.lens is quick!
Nikon AF-S FX 24-70mm f/2.8E ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens with Auto Focus
- Purchased this Nikon 24-70 VR for a Nikon D850 for handheld, on-the-go travel (e.g., landscapes, portraits, group shots, etc.) and got a 90-95% hit rate on sharpness / autofocus mounted to a Nikon D850.
- This is especially true wide open at 24 and 50 mm at f4 and wider apertures taken at a short distance away.
- A great, sharp lens at all the covered focal lengths. Nice to have an aperture of f 2.8. Only knock, maybe, is that it is heavy and large, but I knew that before I bought it.
- Overall I like the lens very much. It does produce sharper corners than the “G” version, particularly at larger apertures (smaller f numbers) but by f8 the two become indistinguishable from the center to the corners in my opinion.
- This lens is definitely worth the money if you can afford it. It is incredibly sharp across the entire frame at any focal length and shows very little distortion.

What customers say about "Size & Weight"
Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 G2 Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Nikon Mount
- Solid build, great ergonomics, full of features, stylish design, tack sharp glass.
- It's big and heavy, but I will happily trade off weight for build and image quality.
- The only downside would be the weight, there's plenty of glass and electronics in it, so be prepared for an upper body workout.
Nikon AF-S FX 24-70mm f/2.8E ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens with Auto Focus
- The price of its versatility is its size and weight.
- Great lens. A bit large and definitely has some weight to it, but that is just the quality of the item. Feels good in the hand, looks good on the camera, and takes amazing photos with great detail.
- The lens is bigger (both by weight, by length, and by volume), and it takes the less common 82 mm filter size. In all, the lens is hefty, quite sturdy, and would probably be a burden to carry along with the holy trinity of fast Nikon tele zooms (14-24, 24-70, and 70-200)
- I thought I was doing well with the other brand, until I borrowed an older model Nikkor 24-70 and realised that lenses of the same specs aren't the same. This one is twice the size of the other brand.

What customers say about "Imaging"
Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 G2 Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Nikon Mount
- This lens is amazing. If I had to compare it to something, I'd compare it to hot butter on crab legs. It is sharp, fast, and the colors are spectacular.
- Solid, well constructed, bright, quick to focus, spectacular vibration compensation, and fairly compact compared to some competitors.
- My photos from yesterday - no chromatic aberration that I could see and almost every photo had perfect VC control.
- I’ve always used Tamron and these new G2s are unbelievable. Incredibly sharp. The VC is insane, best I’ve seen on any lense. Feels great in the hand. Autofocus is fast, silent, and buttery smooth.
- VERY sharp lens (even wide open) with quick and snappy autofocus. VC is top notch - gives me a steady shots in very low light.
Nikon AF-S FX 24-70mm f/2.8E ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens with Auto Focus
- At speed under this, I am still able to get some very sharp images, but I would check and possibly take a second picture to be sure.
- You will notice a substantial gain in image quality and an increase in the number of keeper photos.
- My D750 and this lens love each other and produce very satisfying images that are both sharp and pleasing to the eye.
- Best lens I've ever owned. Sharpest images you'll ever see. Had some high contrast issues when I first got it but I'm assuming that's me, not the lens. Wish it could be all metal and rubber but then that would probably add another grand. Get it if you're serious, don't if you're not.
- It's noted that 14-24 and 70-200 are sharp at almost all zooms and all AP.

What customers say about "Features"
Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 G2 Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Nikon Mount
- The ability to modify the focus with the tap-in console at different distances is fantastic and works great.
- I purchased the Tap-In console to fine tune it, but had absolutely no need for it after running some focusing tests.
- Also love the zoom lock, that was my biggest gripe with the Sigma This will be my #1 travel lens and will also use it for random portrait work I do.
- Smooth zoom ring and great color rendition. Worth the price!
- Good image quality, but rubber focus ring became very loose on the second day of use.
Nikon AF-S FX 24-70mm f/2.8E ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens with Auto Focus
- The new lens seems to have made some design changes (see Roger Cicala's excellent bench tests of this against the old one and the Tamron VR at the blog on lensrentals.com).
- Got this lens earlier this week and love it. I had the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 but sold it to get this newer version.
- This is a dream lens that had been on my wish list for a long time before I decided to make the investment, at the risk of probable starvation.
- Although both take 82mm filter, it seems for some reason the Nikon feel slimmer on the hand.
- The filter size is a negative point as well, so take it in count if you are considering this lens.
