- Great lens, clear and precise, love the constant aperture. Recommend mono or tripod with it, it does get heavy after awhile.
- The aperture size is really nice. It gives max exposure of the subject. Excellent choice for outdoor and even event photography if correct focal lengths are chosen.
- This lens is absolutely wonderful. It is very sharp and very capable in lower light situations. Nice to have a constant aperture throughout the entire zoom range.
- Would recommend this lens for wildlife day time shooting. Not great for real low light situations with 5.6 aperture.
- As a sports shooter the f5.6 aperture isn't the best, but the worst element is the inability to rack out or rack in the lens without having to twist, regrip, twist again--whereas with the 200-400mm can reach the entirety of its range with a slight twist in the necessary direction.
- I've taken the best pictures with this lens that I have ever taken of wildlife, particularly flying birds, eagles, etc. I back button focus, scan with the bird, continuous high or low shooting, and have really captured, at 600mm on a full frame Nikon D750, great shots in relatively bad light
- The photos are razor sharp and I can take amazing pictures even in low light situations. I love the lens. It's so fast, my birds in flight pictures are amazing.
- Effective stabilization. Capable of very nice photographs. 600mm can be very sharp with care. Quick autofocus
- Excellent sharpness, Low CA, Well built, Fast focusing, Keenly priced, Dust and moisture resistant construction, Effective stabilisation, Focuses relatively close for a 600mm lens
- Amazing lense, now gettting fantastic photos of wildlife with amazing detail, even with an entry level Dslr D3400, build quality is great, made of aluminium, it is heavy compared to most lenses but its robust enough to take a knock and not be damaged,
- I particularly like it's light weight as i will be climbing mountains and waterfalls for my photography needs.
- The weight of the lens definitely requires the need for a sturdy tripod and/or Monopod.
- It takes a little time to get accustomed to the weight but this certainly is not an issue when one sees the results.
- It's a pity, but it's too heavy for me.
- Lens is bulky.
- The lens has a nice tripod mount which is a must at 8lbs... no as lite as your 70 to 200mm. Keep that in mind it dose come with its own carry case.
- It is kind of heavy but I don't have a problem with carrying it around. You will want to carry it like a baby.
- I love the Sigma 150-600. The detail it gets is great, and it is a little heavy but to me that is a plus because, just like bowling the extra weight gives me more control of being steady.
- Light weight for this type of lens with this type of build quality. Excellent for bird and wildlife photographers who are on a budget but still want a lens that can produce great images.
- a lens I loved, to begin with, but even that was a bit heavy to carry around all day.
- Bigger and heavier than I expected, but the image quality is fantastic.
- Great Image quality , well worth the money, rivals much more expensive lenses. Auto focus is a tad slow for some moving objects.
- Images have been very sharp as I mostly shoot small birds.
- Great lens. The focus is fast, and the images are sharp.
- It is a awesome lens for birds. This lens produces clear sharp images.
- Amazing lense for the price. This lense captures outstanding images even when shooting handheld. The VR is excellent and focusing is acceptably fast.
- Doing mostly astro photography I get many ooohs and aaahs when I show the images. The Mercury transit was sharp enough to show the not only the planet's clean. round, shape, but also the texture of the solar surface and detail in the sun spots.
- So what can I say - a great lens! It's sharp, the AF is great, the reach - superb! The autofocus is very silent, the stabilization is ok (you won't get a lot of sharp images using 1/100 of a second on the long end of the zoom but when the speed is about 1/200-1/320 - no problem.)
- This lens is very sharp, will be getting the Sigma dock, hope it will increase focus speed on my Nikon D610, the OS is not as effective as I would have wish for, a tripod or monopod is a must at 600mm.
- The OS works really well, as on jeep safari it was handheld all the time, and the pictures are still very sharp.
- Autofocus is lightening fast in most cases, and even if it has to cycle through the whole range, it's still pretty quick. The focus ring feels smooth, and is easy to use, and has full-time manual override. Optical stabilization works well.
- AF is not working correctly on mine. Will not focus. Maybe 3 out of 65 photos the other day in good light, on a tripod, were focused, all others not.
- Purchased for someone who needed to add to their equipment. They were very happy with the features.
- Through trial and error, I discovered that I actually get betters results hand holding. This is where the VR feature comes into play.
- I have read almost all of the online reviews, talked to camera experts and tried the Sigma and Tamron 150-600 mm's, they are good lens and have great features, but in direct comparison I think this Nikkor 200-500 mm is by far the best.
- The VR helps to alleviate the rather mediocre aperture setting, so you can compensate for the lower light with a longer shutter speed.
- This lens is sharp! It can be used on full frame or crop sensor cameras. The build quality is very good and for a zoom lens that reaches out to 500mm, the price is fantastic!
- Extremely versatile zoom range. Seems to have excellent build quality. Can produce nice sharp images. Nice color rendition. Lots of bells and whistles for the price with zoom lock, focus limiter, 2 OS modes, both focus ring and push/pull zoom actions and customizable with the sigma dock.
- First of all I was surprised by the speed of AF alone. For stationery objects with limiter set from 10m to infinity, focus was instant and accurate. Subject tracking was also very good and it was limited only by me using ballhead and not a gimbal.
- I photographed brick building from quite long distance and sharpness was outstanding. Chromatic aberration was non existent and color rendering was very precise and vibrant as well. Build quality is also superb. Lens barrel is aluminum alloy and you can feel the quality of craftsmanship.
- Construction is as good as it comes and it's extremely sharp.
- I use this lens on both Nikon D500 and D850 bodies. The lens has a great build and is weather proof (I've had the opportunity to test that). The autofocus on these cameras is great with this lens and I could ask no more of a lens in terms of sharpness and general acutance.
