What customers say about "Key Specs"
Nikon AF FX 50mm f/1.8D Lens with Auto Focus
  • With the aperture at 1.8 shots can be taken at under 1/60th of a second without the use of a tripod, great low-light functionality.
  • If your camera's sensor is DX sized then the focus will be about 75mm, meaning you'll have to move farther from the the subject. If you really looking for a prime go for the 28mm or a zoom.
  • With a wide aperture of f/1.8 you are guaranteed to get great natural light pictures indoors or other low light situations while maintaining a relatively low ISO.
  • 1.8 is not ideal for portraits as the resulting image is not at all sharp. Stop down to 2.8 or 4.0 you get usable picture.
  • At f/1.8, there is significant softness in the image even if it is focused properly
Nikon AF-S FX 50mm f/1.8G Lens with Auto Focus
  • This is one of the sharpest lenses of nikon. it has a moderate focusing speed. durable and wheather and moisture ring at the mount.
  • I had to return my first piece due to it being having a very tight twist to get it mounted. Unlike my other lenses, this lens would mount, but with lot of pressure.
  • It fits the mount nice and tight, real fast auto focus and captures super sharp images in real low light. Very happy so far!
  • Lovely portraits, beautiful bokeh and great focal length.
  • This lens is hard to beat for the price tag. Although if you're on a dx body the focal length might be a little long for indoor photos.

What customers say about "Size & Weight"
Nikon AF FX 50mm f/1.8D Lens with Auto Focus
  • Extremely light weight, versatile, and highly reliable lens.
  • The pictures are sharp, it' small and light weight, and it handles well in low light.
  • For a "cheap" lens, you get a light weight solid build with a metal mount.
  • Light weight, small and you'll find yourself walking around more to get that shot, but it will probably be worth it.
  • Cheap construction. The rear cap is a joke. I can't image a screw in rear cap adding more than a couple dollars to the cost and it would really protect the lens.

What customers say about "Features"
Nikon AF FX 50mm f/1.8D Lens with Auto Focus
  • The angle of view is pretty close to angle of human eye's normal vision (especially on full frame camera like D700)
  • The manual focusing is not bad at all. In fact, it is lot better than the auto-focus feature, which we get used to because of convenience, since it helps to better understand the concepts of photography, camera settings, exposure etc.
  • Moving focus ring - finger might get in the way and interfere. Tighter than usual fit to the body.
  • Autofocus doesn't work on most common Nikon cameras.
  • Doesn't necessarily lock-on with ease to camera body.
  • There is no zoom or wide angle feature so you will be moving around a lot trying to get shots framed properly, but I like it because it gets me to really think about how I want to frame my shots.
Nikon AF-S FX 50mm f/1.8G Lens with Auto Focus
  • The following is the perfect indoor lens for full frame DSLR cameras however if you have a DX series camera a 50mm actually is greater on a cropped sensor.
  • Great for portraits but be mindful of the DX crop sensors
  • This is the best lens for the money if you are doing portraits with a cropped sensor,
  • A really sweet lens!!! When a polarizing filter is added the colors are very vivid.
  • For beginner photographers like I am, this lens is a must even at full or original price. Don't forget to grab a 58mm uv filter.
