FoodSaver V4840
FoodSaver V4440 2-in-1
- Roll bag storage in the unit is very handy.
- The vacuum function seems to work great! I use foodsaver stuff constantly.
- I used this to freeze blueberries, peaches, zuchini, and roasted tomatoes. I froze the food on cookie sheets for 1 hour before vacuum sealing them. I'm very happy with the result: no air pockets, so no freezer burn.
- I am not happy with this system at all. The unit seems to vacuum the all the air out of the first bag, but fails miserably on subsequent attempts. Only 3/4 of the air is drawn out before the vacuum pump stops and the sealing process starts.
- If you are sealing up moist foods, the vacuum function is so powerful that is sucks up all the moisture and then can't seal properly. A bigger bag helps with this problem as well.
- Cheaper than the other versions but still plenty of power and suction
- Seals a bag typically in about 30 seconds
- It's powerful and the sealing strip is much wider than my previous one. This is an appliance I can't be without!
- We love this item. We use this to make our weekly crock pot recipes for the freezer. Works like a champ. Great vacuum power and good seal.
- Slow.. takes a long time for it to suck out the air and sealing takes a long time also.. Fine for occasional use but if doing large batches, gets annoying fast
- Worked grest for the first 10 time I used it. Now the suction power of the vacuum seems to diminish. I have only used this for food items and bulk dog food.

- The overall size of the unit is small enough that it doesn't take up much room on the counter.
- A great, compact foodsaver that fits on countertops with low cabinets.
- Compact and works excellent. Everything I was looking for and more. Its so easy to use.
- This unit seems lighter and slightly more compact than the model I currently own. In some ways, it also feels cheap, like they cut corners.
- It's big. The roll bag storage means it occupies more space on the counter.
- Very small and portable
- I love the weight of the bags and the vacuum is excellent. The seal is very strong, too.
- Love it! It is sturdy, seals big amd small items very tightly and is small enough to store easily inthe pantry.
- It works, but it is to bulky and I was not a fan of the automatic sealer.
- it is kind of big and bulky and noisy though. but good product.
- The 4840 is functionally identical to the model 4440, with the differences being that the control panel is located on the upper edge of the unit as opposed to the lower edge on the 4440.
- Automated sealing works well, and the amount of vacuum can be controlled from the panel for fragile items or partial vacuum sealing.
- Used it twice so far and it's super easy to use! When I first received it, I thought "wow, this thing is massive and probably is difficult to use". NOPE. You only need to turn on the power button and insert!
- The controls are easy to use and very operator friendly.
- The only problem I have is waiting for the machine to finish vacuuming and/or sealing. It doesn't make any noise for a few seconds, but you have to wait until you hear a "swoosh" to indicate it is finished. I like this upgrade because it is "hands-free."
- Automatic.. Just put bag in slot and wait for it to grab.
- I love being able to control how I seal my bags depending on what's inside.
- Very user friendly and gives you more control over what you are doing.
- the indicator lights are a fantastic feature and will shut off once the bag is sealed.
- No way to double seal bag
- Probably the biggest and only con with this is that it is kind of loud.
- The automatic sealer leaves you with less control of how much bag is being grabbed, plus you have to sometimes wiggle the bag to get it to sense the bag is in the chamber.
- The auto function uses more length of bag, and it's hard to make it "see" the bags to start the process.
- This model allows me to seal the bags to achieve a tight shrink wrap but without making a mess. The plastic shrinks down close to the surface of the soup but it doesn't make a mess.
- I have always used vacuum bags from foodsaver.
- In addition to the roll bags, zipper bags and bottom sealed bags are available, as are accessories for vacuum sealing jars and accelerating marinating dishes.
- I love my foodsaver. I use it with containers, zipper bags that I wash and reuse, and for raw meat I use with sealing bags that I do not reuse. It looks nice on my counter.
- Works well with bags from other manufacturers. (purchased two 50foot rolls)
- Works great with ziplock type vacuum bags.
- I eat a lot of cheddar cheese and use the ziplock type bags and put block of cheese back in and vacuum before putting back in fridge. No more 'hard spots' on cheese
- Wastes a LOT of the bag.
- If item in bag is thick you need to have a lot of 'tail' so it will go into slot evenly
- Solid, quality construction, attractive appearance.
- This is essential for sous vide cooking. Well made, easy to use.
- Even when there is a little that leaks out, the drip tray catches it and is very easy to remove and clean.
- This model has built in vacuum bag roll storage and cutter.
- Sealer wastes a lot of bag material (roughly 3cm at each end) as the sealer only triggers when the bag is fully inserted into the sealer. For vacuuming this might be necessary due to the construction of the foodsaver, but for creating the first seal on a new bag this is pretty wasteful.
- It is SUPER easy to use and is quite easy to move and store.
- It is both very light but also has a very solid construction. Highly recommend.
- Excellent product. Performed as expected. Durable. Have had no problem so far.
- Product worked great. But after a while the attachment hose plastic pieces tore
- I like these unit and they work well. But this inferior piece the put on this unit forces one to buy a new unit if the cheap plastic parts break.
- This model allows you to choose when you want it to heat seal the bags.
- Another plus with the new vacuum system is that it automatically seals the bag for you when you insert into the slot. With the older model you had to position the bag over the vacuum gasket.
- The accessory that works with the special Foodsaver ziplock is great. You can vacuum seal food that gets opened regularly. Just use the accessory and place it over the valve on the ziplock to re-vacuum seal it.
- I like the feature of keeping a roll in the unit and cutting off what you need. It vacuum seals with ease, pretty much all automated. I really love this unit and so happy that I purchased it.
- Would like to see a "manual" mode where the user can control the vacuum and sealing directly, independent of the microchip.
- This is a must have item in the kitchen. I saved so many fresh food and great for marinating meat. Excellent quality!
- This was such a great purchase. I am able to use this to package meats whilst they marinate, to bottle wines, and to (sort-of) can mason jars.
- Also, I like the wet vs dry mode of sealing. very nice. Great product.
- Has the manual suction cup (We have only used this once and it works great, however the specialty bags for these are a little pricey)
- Only worked properly for about a month then the accessory feature (Main reason I bought this one) quit working and of course I am one day past the return deadline.
- Too complicated, wastes the plastic bags. It "too" automatic very little user control
