- It seems well made, produces great ice cream, and has a larger capacity than many other compressor units.
- While I expect to usually make a half-batch at a time, the 1 1/2 quart capacity plus the ability to quickly freeze multiple batches is great for those times when you need lots of ice cream.
- So far, so good. Most of the time it only takes 45 minutes to make a batch of frozen yogurt, although it's nice to be able to run the machine for up to an hour if the mixture isn't very cold.
- The ICE-50BC states it has a 1.5 quart capacity, but I find this is not very realistic considering there is overrun (the paddle turns as the ice cream freezes to incorporate air in the recipe. Without the air, your ice cream would be as solid as a block of ice.
- My only gripe is the capacity for making ice cream (wish it was larger) and the very small access hole for adding toppings when the ice cream starts to set.
- What a great ice cream maker. My only wish is that they made a bigger size (1/2 gallon) but then I guess the machine would probably be too big and bulky.
- As noted by other reviewers it only has one time setting - 60 minutes - and not all ice cream/gelato/sorbet recipes take that amount of time.
- Unless you have a blast chiller than can freeze your ice cream very quickly, I recommend not making more than you and your friends intend to eat, which shouldn't be an issue since it also doesn't make that much ice cream (seems like about 1.5 - 2 quarts).
- If you load the machine close to the recommended amount (perhaps 2/3 of the container size), the aforementioned problem with the paddle not really mixing also causes the ball to rise up to the lid and make a big mess.
- I like it, but the Ice Cream is usually a little too soft and runny. When I'm in the mood for this it's great, because I just pour in a few ingredients and wait 40 minutes.
- Freezing Ice Cream from this machine takes too long, and consequently it'll be a little grainy after it's frozen.

- Yes, it is a bit heavy, but how could I have a compressor without weight?! It is pretty enough that I keep it on my counter. I am one happy consumer.
- This machine is durable, easy to use and super easy to clean up.
- The machine takes up a lot of counter space.
- What i dont like is the size, a full 2 quarts or better would have been great.
- Yeah, yeah...it is heavy, and it...WOW...it makes NOISE!
- The size is like one of the old automatic bread makers but not as tall.
- For those that said it is too heavy to move around - lift some weights; this is no heavier/bulkier than a 10 lb bag of ice.
- I so strongly prefer this machine with a bigger size to a smaller one that you have to freeze parts with. I used to have one and it was rarely used because of the hassle
- The noise is really not bad but the machine is portable enough that moving it another room isn't a bad idea. I found the machine is the size of a really large toaster. I would move the machine to another room when starting a batch.
- this machine is painfully noisy in operation, with a very loud "rurrr...rurrr...rurrr" sound. Also, mine squeaks loudly and annoyingly while it's turning, though that may vary between machine samples.
- The noise level is similar to a dehydrator. It hums the whole time it runs. Not a big deal. I think the only con about it is the amount of counter space it takes up. .
- Automatic shutoff for motor arm: Great feature to not wear out the motor arm when the ice cream finishes.
- Ability to make "batch after batch": This is a nice ability.
- Cleanup is also easy. Even though the parts are not dishwasher safe, it is not difficult or tricky to hand wash.
- The built in compressor and ability to make 1.5 quarts. Most of my recipes make 1 quart so this size works well, and if I want to make more, I can immediately start a second batch.
- Can make batch after batch without pre-freezing anything (just rinse metal bucket & mixing blade).
- Loud. I normally set it up in a room I wont be going into for at least an hour since the arm and compressor are both quite loud. Even with the door shut you will probably be able to hear it.
- This machine made ice cream that was fantastic. Not icy like old fashioned machines. It makes fantastic Gelato too.
- It has a neat feature that is a "keep cold" or "hold" feature so that when it is finished making the ice cream it keeps it cold until you are ready to use it.
- I'm a dianetic and avoids any and all sugar and follow a low carb, high fat diet to control my glucose. So there are no ice creams I can buy at the store. With this I can enjoy ice cream with no sugar and no glycemic impact .
- .after the ice cream has set up somewhat (but not enough!), the machine starts making complaining noises and soon grinds to a halt. If you don't quickly turn it off, it sounds like it's going to destroy itself.
- It needs a MUCH more powerful drive system! So, it has to leave a lot of icy crust on the sides of the mixing container, because scraping it off would be impossible for this motor.
- In hotter weather, the machine needs more time to make a colder consistency. Also if you add any contents that are warmer than room temp, the consistency will be much less solid than you will want.
