- After tweaking the audio for a few minutes, this Onkyo sounds clean, and with more ample power for my small living room than I expected.
- Lots of low end power, and not too "muddy".
- It's loud and can really upset your neighbors (especially if he/she is one of those who complain over you sighing too loudly).
- Great receiver for the money. Lots of power, speakers sound great!!
- The Onkyo 7800 has some pretty impressive features and sound quality for an all-in-one system. I would definitely recommend purchasing this product to anyone who is looking for a surround system for movies, gaming,or music.
- I originally had scaling issues with 4K streams - huge blocks, fuzziness, etc. It turned out that the cable I had wasn't rated for the bandwidth of 4K. I'm not sure if this is actually a real issue, or if I had a defective cable.
- This is a great basic kit. It is 4k compliant. The pass-thru works well with no noticeable signal degradation.
- This system is AMAZING! The receiver has limited features compared to most on the market right now but it's also not nearly as expensive. The speakers are absolutely killer!
- After the DVD player in my old DVD/Home Theater system wouldn't play DVDs any more, I replaced the old system with the Onkyo HT-S7800. I couldn't be more pleased.
- Value in a modern audio system that supports all current formats
- Subwoofer is non-powered, not a major dealbreaker for me
- This receiver can handle many audio formats including Dolby Atmos for a fairly low price.
- The speakers are absolutely killer! The bass is unbelievably powerful and the sound quality from the remaining speakers is top notch.
- The sound is unbelievable. A lot louder than I would ever need. The front right and front left speaker actually have 2 speakers in each one. It doesn't show on the pictures but this has a total of 7 speakers and 1 sub.
- Sounds great! Much more powerful than I could use. Everything was shaking in my living room with the sound only at 60%.
- Center channel is a little weak compared to the left/right sides (3" driver on center, 5" on LRs)
- The bass is unbelievably powerful and the sound quality from the remaining speakers is top notch.
- The sound is perfect for the room where the system is located.
- Atmos actually works great in the home
- Speakers are just big enough to house good sized drivers without being an eyesore (according to my wife)
- The rear speakers are direct wire, any remote speakers with the sending unit and no wires is also useless for fidelity. If your interest is loud noise by all means the newer systems are the ones for you.
- Center channel is a little weak compared to the left/right sides (3" driver on center, 5" on LRs)
- There are a couple of smart phone apps that you can download and use that gives you a slightly more this century controller
- UI is simple, easy to operate, and quick to set up (automatically determines levels for all speakers, it's really nice!)
- The built in web apps such as Spotify work well.
- When configured properly, the system can get quite loud while still maintaining sound clarity.
- Updating the firmware was quick and easy.
- This system would be a 5 star for me but the remote control is kinda archaic for a system this nice with as many features that are hidden in this system like auto power off sub, HDMI-CEC that works!
- Sub woofer cable is cheap and a bit short.
- If your TV is new enough, it can either control the volume of the TV or keep sound from going to it completely to only use the surround sound. It can also be programmed to power on and off when you turn the TV on/off.
- This system would be a 5 star for me but the remote control is kinda archaic for a system this nice with as many features that are hidden in this system like auto power off sub, HDMI-CEC that works!
- The built in web apps such as Spotify work well.
- And the added feature of network connectivity and Bluetooth is nice as well. Great buy for the price.
- I live the features of this surround sound system but the volume knob is very false feeling and the remote seems cheap .
- There are plenty oh HDMI and other ports.
- Connects all of my devices into a single point (HDMI pass through is wonderful).
- The auxiliary HDMI port on the front of the receiver is wonderful.
- Bluetooth can be a bit weird at times - sometimes you have to repair the device or recycle the power on the receiver.
- HDMI passthrough doesn't seem to work well with 4K streams, I'm not sure why.
- The speaker wires are quite thin. I recommend buying 16 gauge.
- Even the wires for each speaker are color coded to make connecting the speakers easy.
- The auxiliary HDMI port on the front of the receiver is wonderful.
- Setup is stupid easy. Clearly labeled connections on the back of the receiver. All of the speaker wire is also color labeled. The AccuEQ Room Acoustic Calibration is nice.
- No network connectivity for device control - turned out to be less of an issue than I had first thought.
- Sometimes the hdmi fail to connect with TV ARC. Atmos option not shown. I guess I need Atmos stremer like Xbox or bluray player with atmos. Overall worth the price.
