ALLPOWERS AP-SP-008-BLA

Stable Power with Higher Efficiency

One of the main factors that tend to put people off of renewable energy sources is the fact that, for now, they have less protection and stability than regular ones. However, that isn’t always the case as proved by the ALLPOWERS AP-SP-008-BLA, which has increased efficiency and several protective measures against short circuiting and other damage.

To start off, the panels have 5.8 A and 20 V short circuit current and open circuit voltage, which means that even a power surge won’t shut down the system or harm any of the equipment you have connected to it. This can be particularly crucial if you’re choosing an energy source for camping, when you’re far from home and have no backup means of generating electricity.

We do want to warn you about the MC-4 connectors. In case you don’t know, these are the cords used to link together several panels and, of course, you want them to be as reliable as possible to ensure stable connection. However, the ones that come with this model are a bit weak and we’d recommend getting backup cables, just in case.

You’ll be happy to know that the ALLPOWERS panel consumes up to 30% more solar energy, generating more electricity as a result. With a max output of 100 W, you could use this product as a car charger, a portable generator for your cooler, lights, or laptop.

It’s tough to say whether these are the absolute best flexible solar panels but they do bend to a 30 degree angle, offer higher energy efficiency, and don’t weigh all that much. We can certainly confirm that they’re great for picnics and for boats if you’re into fishing. The junction box on these panels is sealed to be waterproof so you can go out on a marine adventure without worrying about losing your power source.

HQST HQST-100DB

A New Kind of Farming

Can you imagine your home generating enough energy to be self-sustaining with no need for a connection to the general grid? It may seem like something out of the far future but, really, all you need to do is get a set of the HQST HQST-100DB solar panels. Cover your whole roof in them without any issues, thanks to the 30-degree flexure, and, quite literally, take the power in your own hands!

In fact, after you turn your house into a solar farm, you can stick a panel onto your car so you’ll always have enough power to charge your phone or keep a cooler running in the backseat with some fresh beverages. And don’t worry, the back of the panel is made out of a special polymer that leaves no trace on the surface it’s stuck to. Even if your car has a pristine new coat of paint, the HQST-100DB won’t blemish it.

One of the few qualms we have with this particular product is that the cables that come with the purchase aren’t all that long and you might have to get extensions if your roof access is somewhat complicated. Luckily, you can leave the junction box in any spot that suits you since it’s completely sealed and even hard rain won’t damage its insides.

To summarize, the HQST-100 DB semi-flexible solar panel does have some room for improvement but it generates up to 100 W, a respectable level, and the high amperage means that the more panels you have connected, the more efficient your solar farm will be. A good choice for those looking to really make an energy-generating juggernaut.

ALLPOWERS AP-SP-007-BLA

Affordable Beginner's Choice

Some people are hesitant to get into solar-powered energy sources since the panels don’t look all that sturdy and many are afraid that the pricey equipment will get damaged easily. Luckily, we’ve got just a solution - the ALLPOWERS AP-SP-007-BLA panel, one of the most reliable and affordable models on the market.

The monocrystalline wafers of this panel are covered on both sides by EVA film, a transparent and practically weightless material that lets sunlight through but blocks everything else. Even if a rock is thrown at the film, your panel will stay intact. Plus, you don’t have to fret about water or insects getting under the EVA as it’s fully sealed for added protection.

Of course, a lower price with that kind of high quality means there must be a catch, right? And there sort of is but it’s not that big of an issue, really. First off, the AP-SP-007-BLA is made to generate a maximum of 50 W so you’d have to get twice as many panels as you would of the regular models. Still, just two of these would be enough to run a fridge for a day or keep your car charged up. Also, we’re not over the moon with the choice of junction box placement as it complicates panel mounting a bit and prevents you from putting the panel right up to the surface.

Still, if you want an affordable gateway to the world of solar power, the ALLPOWERS AP-SP-007-BLA is the panel for you. The 2 lb weight means you could put these flexible solar panels on your RV and blast off for a road trip knowing that you’ll always have power, no matter where the drive takes you.

Mohoo 100W

Spread Your Solar Far and Wide

Want to spread your solar farm over a big area but don’t feel like spending an obscene amount on extension cords and wasting hours trying to set it all up? Don’t worry, the Mohoo 100 watt flexible solar panel may be just what you need.

You could spread these panels all over your home thanks to the 118” long MC4 connectors. With that kind of length, installation becomes a breeze and you can choose exactly where you want the panel to be without any compromises. Plus, you’re not gonna have to buy any additional cables unless you’re literally thinking of placing these panels in a huge field.

What may restrict your solar farm a bit, though, is the comparatively high weight of the Mohoo panels. Sure, 5.43 lbs may not seem like that much but not everybody is willing to risk putting several of them on the roof or a relatively fragile surface. Plus, installing weighty panels won’t be too fun either.

Another feature that will be key for anyone living in a region with high precipitation levels is the watertight sealing on each and every Mohoo panel. Neither rain nor snow will stop these devices from working at maximum power and you won’t have to worry about the panel getting waterlogged even if it’s raining cats and dogs out there.

While we did spot some flaws in the otherwise impressive Mohoo 100W panels, we can still recommend them wholeheartedly to anybody looking to make an expansive yet inexpensive solar farm that won’t fall victim to the elements after a downpour occurs.

BZBRLZ Sunpower

Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board

You may have heard that solar panels are made of silicone and thought “oh, well that won’t last too long in the local weather”. But that’s where you’d be wrong because there are products like the BZBRLZ Sunpower. Made to last, this model features mounting apertures made of sturdy metal that won’t rust or get deformed over time, ensuring that the device will serve you for years.

Despite having these high-quality metal fixings, the BZBRLZ Sunpower doesn’t actually weigh that much at a mere 2.1 lbs. This means that you can put quite a few panels on your roof or on your RV without worrying about damaging something. Plus, that kind of weight makes them perfect travel companions if you want the luxury of electricity on your road trips and for camping.

Of course, nobody’s perfect and the BZBRLZ Sunpower does have its downsides. For example, we find this model to be less flexible than some of the competitors even despite the advertised 30-degree angle. Plus, it only offers 50 W of energy, which isn’t too bad but still means that you’ll need quite a few panels to power your home in full.

With that said, the BZBRLZ Sunpowers never fails to keep up with the competition. It offers a stable source of electricity that won’t break down because of strong wind or rains and the low weight makes it a smart pick for portable power generation.

What Are Flexible Solar Panels?

Whether you’re looking to save money on electricity bills or trying to get a good portable energy source that will keep you connected to the grid even while you’re out in the wilderness, flexible solar panels are definitely the way to go. They’re similar to regular panels but the silicon wafers they’re made of are sliced very thinly to allow bending. Thanks to that, you have more freedom of placement and can even take the panel with you on the road, a perfect solution for car trips or picnics. In fact, if you use these flexible solar panels marine adventures will become much safer, easier, and more comfortable. With just one piece of equipment, you can power several devices, including GPS, laptops, coolers, lights, and a variety of other handy gear.

And while you’re out and about, circling a lake in your boat, you might want to get some marine speakers to enjoy your favorite tunes, especially since you’ll have a power source to launch them. Or, if you’re planning to install these panels in your home, consider doing some further improvements to your house’s energy efficiency and get a set of smart light switches and bulbs.
