There might be a specific odor at first, though it airs out quickly.
Equipped with plenty of drawers, small and large, this model is a great choice for keeping things neatly organized, including tools and materials that might not fit in a smaller model. It's a great well-rounded choice that doesn't cost too much despite its smart design.

Akro-Mils 10144
The Fortified Forty-Four
If you’re always losing small things like buttons and thread, mixing them up due to a lack of sectioned space, you’ll surely love the Akro-Mils 10144 with its 44 drawers. With that kind of cabinet, there won’t ever be issues with different materials getting tangled together.
As 12 of the drawers here are pretty large at 4.4 by 2 by 5.25, you’ll be able to store some of the tools in your arsenal alongside with the materials, making things a bit more ergonomic. Even though the cabinet and its insides are made of polystyrene, they’re pretty sturdy so you can keep heavy objects inside. As for the 32 small drawers, they’re not too capacious but should be enough to store buttons, thread, paints, and other supplies for crafts.
We do recommend letting the cabinet air out a bit before you put things in it, especially if it’s something aromatized. The polystyrene it’s made of has seemingly not been treated to remove the odor that usually follows the material. A few days should be enough to get rid of it though.
And if 44 drawers are somehow not sufficient for keeping your art supplies neat, you can always use the special apertures on top of the cabinet to stack an identical model on top of it, effectively doubling the storage capacity. That does require more space but, since the model can be wall-mounted, you’re not too restricted in placement options.
All in all, the Akro-Mils 10144 is one of the more capacious and reliable models out there, featuring drawers both large and small, making it a good choice for any crafts lover. It has very few flaws and that, in our eyes, makes it one of the best models of craft cabinets you could buy.
Akro-Mils 10164
No Such Thing as Too Many Drawers
Never have enough space to comfortably store all of your nuts and bolts and other small parts that you use in DIY hobbies? If you said yes, you’re likely on the lookout for a way to organize your workplace and the Akro-Mils 10164 offers just that.
With 64 equally-sized drawers, you might think that you’d get confused about what’s in which drawer and lose track of some things. Thankfully, they are all transparent so you can see inside clearly. And if that’s not enough and you’d prefer some extra organization, you get 8 small dividers with the purchase, making it possible to section off parts of the cabinet for particular materials. However, you also get 4 large dividers, which would have been a nice bonus… if the cabinet had any large drawers. A puzzling addition to say the least.
This cabinet can be both left standing on your table or wall-mounted. You might worry that the weight of its drawers could pull the whole thing down but the cabinet itself is made of lightweight polystyrene. It’s a quality material though, perhaps, not the sturdiest.
While we wouldn’t have minded some large drawers in this model as the smaller ones will not fit some of the bigger materials and tools, the Akro-Mils 10164 is a useful product for anybody who wants to declutter their workspace. It’s capacious yet compact and the wall-mounting is a nice added touch.
Stack-On DS-22
Save Some Space
While organizing your materials and tools is a good way to keep your workspace clutter-free, not everybody actually has enough space on their desk for a huge crafts cabinet. And getting a tiny model is a bit counterproductive since capacity is key in such products. That’s why we recommend going for a middle-ground choice and getting the Stack-On DS-22.
Though this model has 8 large and 14 small drawers for a total of 22, it’s pretty compact and lightweight as it’s made of plastic. And yes, admittedly, the material is pretty thin (a side effect of the low weight) but it’s sturdy enough to hold basic supplies and tools. Just try not to put anything sharp in the Stack-On DS-22’s drawers as plastic is easier to cut and damage than most other materials. Plus, you can store things with particular odors in the drawers without worrying about, well, stinking up the whole cabinet. Each drawer has a few small air holes specifically to keep smells out.
Although 22 is definitely not the highest number of drawers we’ve seen in a cabinet, the large ones in this model are capacious and hold more than you’d expect. So even though the Stack-On DS-22 is certainly on the compact side, you can get good mileage out of it still.
Flambeau 6576NA
No Risk of a Mess
There’s nothing more annoying than having each drawer in a cabinet filled with your materials and then when you go to pull one out, have the contents spill out onto the table because the drawer got stuck. It not only wastes your time but negates what could be hours of careful organizing. This is why we particularly value the Flambeau 6576NA.
Every single one of the 25 drawers in this model moves smoothly, requiring no strength to pull out. And even if you do accidentally apply too much force and jerk the drawer too hard, a special stop prevents it from sliding out completely and spilling its contents.
Though we’ve already praised the design of the drawers, we do have to complain about the material choice. While the plastic used is, indeed, reasonably sturdy, it does get darker over time. This means that your drawers stop being completely transparent and it might be a good idea to label them right away, lest you end up with a full cabinet and no idea on what’s stored where.
Still, a few small gripes can’t keep the Flambeau 6576NA from the title of one of the best craft cabinets out there. It’s reasonably capacious, compact, and well-made so you never risk making a mess when pulling out its drawers. This is definitely a neat DIYer’s dream.
Akro-Mils 10126
A Compact Solution
Love the high-quality Akro-Mils cabinets but wish they were a bit more compact so even a small table could fit one? If you said yes, we’ve got just the model for you as the Akro-Mils 10126 fits the description to a tee.
Though it’s not exactly tiny, the Akro-Mils 10126 is just 20 by 10.25 by 6.4, small enough to place comfortably on a table that might already be taken up by a sewing machine or a similar craft tool. Of course, the smaller size means fewer drawers but with 6 large and 20 small, this cabinet has enough space for craft supplies. Although we do have to note that the smaller drawers aren’t very sturdy and you shouldn’t put heavy things in them.
What we do like about the design is the addition of a pair of non-skid legs on the bottom of the cabinet. That way, even if you bump the cabinet, it won’t leave any scratches on your table. The polystyrene is also a light enough material that you can mount the cabinet on the wall without worrying about the weight of it combined with the materials inside.
So while it is smaller than most and doesn’t have the highest load capacity, the Akro-Mils 10126 is a viable storage choice. The 26 drawers should be enough to keep all of your supplies organized and the compact size is a great solution for those who have little space to work with.
What Is a Craft Cabinet?
Keeping things organized is always a good idea but it can be vital if you’re into DIY. Storing needles, nails, shreds of string, fabric, and more is not an easy task, especially if you want it done efficiently. That’s why a special craft cabinet is a solid choice as its multitude of drawers will store things in an orderly fashion without you having to buy many boxes separately. Whether you’re into sewing, cross-stitching, or making plush toys, a neat cabinet filled with your supplies is a good way to keep your mind clear of clutter and straight on the task at hand.
The majority of these craft cabinets are designed specifically to fit small pieces used in arts and crafts, leaving them compact and pretty lightweight compared to an actual cabinet. It shouldn’t be too hard to find a spot for this kind of product in your home, especially since many of them can be both free-standing and wall-mounted. So if you’ve been looking for a way to organize your supplies and declutter your workplace, a crafts cabinet is a great option.
And if you’re really into DIY, you can’t miss a good craft table or the tools you could put onto it, such as a sewing machine or a cutting mat.
