Support and Stability
Otomix M3000-BLK fit wrestling, grappling, and MMA about as well as weightlifting, powerlifting, and bodybuilding. The shoes' most impressive attribute is the lightweight flat sole, providing improved support and stability without limiting the motion range. Sewn and glued on the boot, this can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.
Aside from improving traction with the mats and delivering above-average durability, these are more or less standard wrestling shoes. They provide extra ankle support, something that heavy weight lifters and martial artists require alike.
The available sizes range from 7 to 15 US, so most grown men will have no trouble finding a fitting pair. Plus, you can choose between 10 different colors, including white, black, gray, red, pink, blue, and yellow, as well as two options with camouflage patterns and one that matches blue with white and red.
Where things get a little hairy is with the laces on the bottom. Because the model pairs synthetic leather with suede and canvas, they're a little tight there, making the laces on the bottom a little difficult to adjust. Barring that, Otomix M3000-BLK rank among the best wrestling shoes for men today, contributing great comfort and performance.
Unrivaled Support
ASICS Men's Matflex 6 will give you more confidence on the mats than ever before. But, before that, these shoes present an awesome-looking front, so you can compete without sacrificing style. Black with champagne stripes, black with silver stripes, classic red with flash coral, peacoat, classic red with white stripes, or stone grey with flash coral, all of these designs look pretty awesome. That being said, the colors sometimes look different than advertised, so don't be surprised when the shoes arrive with a somewhat different appearance than you were expecting.
As far as performance goes, the EVA sock liner is the shoes' biggest strength, ensconcing the foot in unrivaled support and giving you that second wind that you need to gain the upper hand. Other than that, the mesh insole stands out as well, promoting airflow and providing ventilation so that the skin remains refreshed without that uncomfortable dampness that often hinders the wrestler's performance.
Last but not least, the California shoe tree gives these shoes additional durability, making the shoes tough as nails and twice as durable. Taking that as well as the comfort and stability these shoes bring about into account, ASICS Men's Matflex 6 have it all.
Dependable Workhorse
Adidas KDO02 HVC are a classic. Despite the changes that the line has received over the years, these shoes remain the lightweight, durable, and reliable workhorse that the initial model was.
First and foremost, thanks to the elasticized lace retention cover system, the laces are hidden, meaning that you can compete knowing that the laces will not untie while you're busy wrestling. Second, made from synthetic suede and synthetic leather, these shoes weigh less than most wrestling shoes but prove as durable from the get-go and down the road as the heaviest models.
To go with these two materials, the model adopts a single-layer mesh, releasing sweat and wicking away moisture. Meanwhile, crafted from high-quality rubber, the outsole ensures consistent mat contact and unbeatable grip, letting you wrestle without worrying about slipping and skidding on the mats.
We like wresting shoes with velcro straps but, as always, the strap loses its adhesive properties with time, so you'll have to replace it in a few years. Aside from that, Adidas KDO02 HVC are top-notch shoes for men and kids. They're available in 4-16 sizes for men and 1 - 13 sizes for kids, so there's almost no chance you won't be able to find fitting shoes.
Ample Cushioning
Nike Speedsweep VII will let you sweep your opponent off his feet, speaking literally rather than figuratively. These shoes are focusing on performance first and everything else second. Nevertheless, they're Nike shoes, meaning that they're also not trailing behind on the aesthetics front. You can choose between black-white-black, pure platinum and white-wolf gray, and black with metallic silver-anthracite, giving the shoes a fairly minimalistic yet sleek and unapologetically edgy appearance.
The shoes are available in every size between 7 and 13, so most men should be able to find a good fit. Having said that, the sizes run small, so we would recommend going with half a size above your usual choice.
What does not run small, however, is the EVA sock liners offering ample cushioning. Also landing among the product's list of advantages is the leather uppers that come equipped with mesh nets, making the shoes breathable and preventing them from sticking to the feet.
Finally, featuring gum rubber outsoles, the shoes give you respectable grip and traction, delivering the confidence on the mat that you need to compete with the best and come out victorious. Plus, the heel cup holds really well, with almost no collapse.
Performance and Confidence
ASICS Kid's Matflex 6 GS are pretty much the same shoes that we've reviewed a few slots above except that these ones are made for kids and not men. The available sizes include 10 US (toddlers), 1 - 13 US (little kids), and 1 - 13 US (big kids). Wearing these shoes, the kids' (girls and boys) performance and confidence on the mats will go through the roof.
For starters, the open mesh uppers come outfitted with synthetic overlays, presenting additional reinforcement. Furthermore, the open mesh uppers themselves ensure practically unrestricted air circulation, keeping the skin dry and refreshed.
Of course, when the going gets tough, excess sweat starts accumulating anyway. But, when that happens, the EVA sock liner absorbs it before the sweat can distract your kid during the match. Apart from that, the collar and the tongue come featuring light padding that makes them soft but firm, delivering adequate support without strangling the kids' feet or restricting his movement.
While the California shoe tree offers long-lasting durability, the eyelets on these shoes are a little shoddy, so we advise against jerking the laces around unnecessarily. As long as that's alright with you and your kid, ASICS Kid's Matflex 6 GS will not disappoint.
What Are Wrestling Shoes?
Wrestling is a discipline that most martial artists respect. The mats can be pretty slippery, however, both literally and figuratively, so the right shoes can be the difference between victory and defeat. What separates good wrestling shoes from generic models is many things but the outsole comes first. Usually made from high-strength rubber, the outsole should be able to ensure sufficient grip and traction, letting the wrestler move and take advantage of consistent mat contact.
Extra ankle support is what people normally notice about these shoes before anything else, with the hi-top silhouette not just making them look cool but also delivering additional support and stability. The sock liner, crafted from EVA foam more often than not, should be present as well, something that can ensconce the foot and cushion it. But, from where we're standing, the part that cannot be neglected even more than others is ventilation. When these shoes come without some mesh net, the feet start feeling stuffy almost immediately, distracting the wrestler and, at times, costing him the fight.
While we're on the subject of shoes, these hiking boots for men and women will not help you on the mats but will work like gangbusters on the trails.
