Hand-crafted Goggles

UMBRELLALABORATORY is a popular shop among the steampunk crowd, their products are handmade and look totally cool since they are created with passion, by fans for fans. And this particular model of steampunk goggles is their top-selling flagship item for a reason. These vintage goggles are made with such care to detail that anyone wearing them will attract the eyes of the rave crowd just by passing by.

The frames are made of sturdy plastic that will live through intense use without breaking. The elastic band will keep the glasses in place wherever you go, be it a wild party or a photo shoot in the desert.

You can choose the color of the lenses you get, the offered options include lilac purple, green, blue, and red. The frames are black and slick and have little compass Roses of the Winds at the sides. Besides the goggles themselves, you get a mechanism with two ocular loupes that can be fixed over one eye to add some extra distinction from any other model. The loupes can be additionally adjusted, you can set them at the most comfortable angle so that they do not get in the way of you looking around. Or you can remove them altogether if you wish. Without the loupes, these steampunk glasses can also be used for cyberpunk of dieselpunk cosplay as well.

You'll Make Everyone Remember You

With steampunk, there is very little you can do to go overboard. The geeky crowd goes all out frequently and it looks awesome, that's actually part of the charm. These aviator steampunk goggles from Cybergoth have a lot of decorative elements on them: tiny thin chains, clock cogs, spikes, and imitation of magnifying eye loupes but without the glass in them. They would seem a tad too much for a streetwear (well, unless it's your everyday style in which case—wow, way to go) but if you're heading to a themed party, a rave, or simply want a cool photoshoot to have on your Facebook page, there are very few models that look more stunning than these antique steampunk glasses.

The frame here is plastic but unless you look very closely you won't even notice that as it is painted to look like brass with some signs of wear, perfect for cosplay. The lenses are clear glass, not tinted, that would indeed be a little too much. They fit nicely over the top hat thanks to the adjustable elastic band but if you decide to wear them on your head they will still set nicely and won't slip off.

All in all, this model of decorative Victorian style glasses can be easily named the best steampunk goggles for costume party purposes and astonishing photos and videos you will set on your shelf to remember the days you were a part of this culture.

Best Priced Pair

These are pretty simple-looking steampunk glasses, and we mean this in the best of ways. They look like you've just exited the engine room where you were holed up making repairs like a top steam engine aficionado you are. There are no bells and whistles that are a dead giveaway of a prop or a cosplay item. They look like you could use them for welding, though we recommend you not to, in real life, as they are just that—props.

Made of high-quality hardened plastic and coated to resemble vintage bronze goggles, these can be used for steampunk, cyberpunk, dieselpunk parties, theater plays, conventions, and photo shoots. Thanks to the air vents at the sides, you can wear them for hours on end without them fogging up and the adjustable elastic band will make it comfortable and not too tight. The lenses are plastic, not glass, which might seem like a drawback but on the other hand, this has allowed the model to be priced extremely low so you'll need to weigh pros and cons personally.

The package includes two pairs of lenses—one clear and another tainted tawny. Switching between them is quite easy and you can use different lenses with different costumes or simply replace them when you are in the mood to.

The Coolest Sunglasses Ever

These are not just steampunk goggles here, the model is offered in a number of coating colors and will be suitable for conventions dedicated to other themes as well. There are six options in total: brass, bronze, and copper are a good choice for steampunk and dieselpunk while black and bright silver are perfect cyberpunk costume additions; the antique silver model is, in our opinion, quite universal.  The spikes on the frame look badass and are suitable for many settings and a variety of themes.

The Agile-Shop offers the best steampunk goggles for conventions where you need to wear them for prolonged periods of time: this model is exceptionally lightweight despite having glass lenses, not plastic ones. The frame is plastic, though. It is, however, quite durable and should serve you for quite some time even if you wear the goggles often. The side vent will prevent the lenses from fogging up.

The lenses are gray-tinted and although the glasses are advertised as purely decorative props, some users report that they can actually be used as sunglasses if you are bold enough to wear them as an everyday accessory. They do look undeniably cool. We have to warn you to not use them to look at the solar eclipse, though.

Bundle Bargain

For $12.99 here, you get not one but two pairs of vintage steampunk goggles in Gothic copper color. Or in black. Or one of each, it's your choice. They are not really made of copper, obviously, or any metal for that matter, but the paint job is done quite decently and at the distance or on the photos, no one will recognize them as the model made of plastic. While hardcore steampunk nerds are all about authenticity, wearing metal goggles for any length of time is quite tiresome, and brass or copper are not exactly the lightest materials.

Besides the double purchase, you can also choose to buy one pair of these steampunk glasses but this will cost you $7.89 so buying two-in-one is a bargain. However, the single purchases offer several different lenses options compared to the double's changeable tinted and clear. In one-pair options, you can have your goggles with blue or red-tinted lenses as well as faceted lenses that change their color depending on the angle you look at them from. That's pretty cool and will look really eye-catching at a rave. The differently colored goggles cost a bit more, though, keep that in mind.

As most of the models on the market, these aviator glasses, too, have side vents to battle fogging up. The elastic band is strong enough to use on your top hat as well as on the head or over your eyes.

What Are Steampunk Goggles?

Victorian England is a period that fascinates many of us to this day. People love it for a variety of reasons, from the beautiful dresses and refined manners of court ladies to the breakthroughs in technology and a number of inventions made during the Industrial Revolution. Many of the things we know and love today were first introduced during that era, like reinforced concrete, bike tires, photography, and Christmas cards. Even flashing toilets and vacuum cleaners were created those days. And, of course, this era is well-known for the boats and airships operated by steam engines. These beasts look so magnificent that they have born a whole subculture, the Steampunk, where people dream up the world where steam engines never went out of fashion and were never replaced by internal combustion engines. Books and movies set in a Steampunk world are instant hits.

Steampunk has its own fashion, corset-clad girls wearing miniskirts that would thrust Victorian-era maidens into wailing in shame. Steampunk lovers are well-known to use a plethora of laces, necklaces, and a lot of steam-engine-inspired accessories. Among those accessories, a special place belongs to Steampunk goggles, a trademark of sorts to the culture itself. Although made to resemble protective glasses worn at those times instead of modern welding helmets, these goggles are primarily decorative, often made in intricate designs and with many tiny details. If you are into this culture and are going to a convention, goggles are a must.
