Simply the Best

If you’re one of those who would like to get the best of the best, this super multipurpose trimmer is just what you need. The Philips Norelco MG7750/49 Multri Groomer Set from the latest 7000 Philips series proudly combines as many as 23 different functions. The trick is, it’s supplied with 23 accessories for grooming everything from your facial hair to body areas. The trimmer itself reveals a dual-blade system that’s always fresh and accurate. Once you switch on the trimmer, the blades will start brushing against each other, thus sharpening themselves automatically. And even after three years of use, they will stay as sharp as new.

The item is equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery that can run up to an incredible 5 hours after a full charge. Such operation time is quite enough for an entire week with a full grooming routine. And if it dies mid-grooming, you won’t be stuck - you’ll be able to plug it in and continue trimming. However, this also means that the unit isn’t completely waterproof and can’t be used in the shower. Still, you can easily detach the head with attachments and rinse them with water. During use, the stainless steel body of the trimmer reliably protects all the internal components from water drops. Though the body might be a bit difficult to grip, it's corrosion-resistant. The manufacturer hasn’t cut corners and made the attachments high-quality as well. They’re made with fiberglass which offers excellent durability.

Serves As...

As we’ve just mentioned, this Philips Norelco MG7750/49 beard trimmer comes with lots of accessories and can serve as:

Head-to-toe Trimmer. Most of the attachments are various heads for the trimmer. The trimming heads can groom beards up to 7mm and hair up to 16mm. All the cutting guards are further reinforced to prevent bending and buckling. Each one is individually marked for beard, stubble, head, and body.

Foil shaver. As a foil shaver, it can help you quickly shave clean lines on your face.

Steel precision trimmer. It has a narrow design that makes it easier for users to precisely detail their beard, mustache, or stubble.

Nose and ear trimmer. The unit trims unwanted nose and ear hair cleanly without any nicks or cuts.

Extra-wide hair trimmer. The trimmer has an extra-wide design and can double as fully-fledged hair trimmer for haircutting and fading.

Summing up, if you don’t want to clutter your bathroom cabinets with several tools for grooming, the Philips Norelco MG7750/49 is an all-rounder.

Golden Mean

The Philips Norelco MG5750/49 is a terrific all-in-one trimmer for face, head, and body styling. This multi-grooming tool can easily handle beard, ear, and nose trimming. And though it's not as high-tech and feature-rich as its siblings from 7000 series, it would be unfair to not give it credit seeing all the functions and the variety of attachments it provides. In our opinion, the Philips Norelco MG5750/49 is one of the most successful models by Philips and the benchmark of its quality. OK, now let's get to details.

The Philips Norelco MG5750/49's packed with 18 shaving head attachments, not as many as you can find in the MG7750/49 but more than sufficient for most trimming needs, and certainly plenty if you are not a barber and prefer bearing some shapes in particular. The package includes:

  • 13 styling blade guards ranging from 1 to 16 mm (3 beard trimming guards, 2 stubble trimming guards, 6 hair trimming guards, 2 body trimming guards);
  • a nose and ear trimmer;
  • a detail metal trimmer for tapering around each ear;
  • a simple metal trimmer, and an extra-wide hair trimmer.

All these attachments are high-quality and easy to attach and detach. For extra convenience, the trimmer includes a special cleaning brush and a storage pouch in which you can store the main unit along with the shaving heads. The storage bag is quite capacious and is made of a nice material, but we wouldn't mind if it'd had at least a couple of additional compartments for storage of accessories. Of course, it's not a deal breaker and it's still nice that the trimmer has a bag.

Decent Performance

After we've covered the functional worth of the Philips Norelco Multi Groomer MG5750/49, let's focus on its practical side. This trimmer has a high-performing Lithium battery that can deliver three hours of non-stop operation after a full charge. The charge doesn't take long and you can expect it to be fully charged in around one hour. The tiny inconvenience is that the trimmer doesn't have indicators to tell you the battery charge. That said, as it can work corded, you can easily hook it to a wall socket once its charge drops too low. One of the things we like about the Philips Norelco Multi Groomer MG5750/49, in particular, is that, while being cheaper than its counterpart, it offers a much better grip, pleasant-to-touch textured rubber that doesn't skid in wet hands. Plus, its handle is very slim so it's easier to maneuver it around your face.

In the end, it's worth pointing out that the MG5750/49 is more of a trimmer than it's a razor. It doesn't have a foil head and this means achieving a close shave with it won't be possible. Using the MG5750/49, you'll have either a light stubble or a beard. However, if you look for a trimmer for the very that purpose, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better option, especially given its price.

Great Value

The Philips Norelco MG3750/50 is an absolute best-seller on the market, which doesn't surprise us. Judge for yourself. It costs less than $20 yet includes as many as 13 attachments, more than many similar products with the same price tag offer. With the trimmer you get 7 combs and a stubble guard for creating a sexy stumbled look. Combs are easy to attach and use, and will let you trim your hair and beard as you wish. Beside the mentioned guards, the package includes:

  • A full-size steel trimmer which allows you to trim through very thick hair and create clean and straight lines;
  • A full-metal steel precision trimmer that can help you edge and finish small details;
  • A nose & ear trimmer, designed for removing unwanted hair from your nose and ears without nicks or cuts.

All the attachments are water-resistant and can be rinsed under the tap after use.

In addition to a great set of attachments, the Philips Norelco MG3750/50 stands out for its quality build. It's not made of cheap plastic and it doesn't have that fragile look like some trimmers in its price range do. It features tempered steel blades which, as manufacturer claims, never break, dull, or rust. Plus, they do not require oiling. Thanks to the DualCut technology, these blades are automatically maintained by sharpening themselves as you use the trimmer. You can be sure that they will serve you for years to come and won't let you down. The guards are reinforced too to prevent bending and buckling.

Built to Last

Though we've already covered quite a lot of benefits the Philips Norelco Multi Groomer MG3750/50 offers, there are some more things that add to it making its use more convenient. Light weight is perhaps the most important. Compared to many trimmers, this one is much smaller and feels more lightweight in hand so you can comfortably maneuver it reaching all parts you need. For sturdier feel, the trimmer has a matte design with grips on both sides making it easier to handle it.

So, while we do not claim that the Philips Norelco Multi Groomer MG3750/50 is the best trimmer you can find on the market, it's certainly an attractive choice if you are on budget and look for a relatively versatile thing.

Focuses on Your Beard

The Philips Norelco BT5215/41 trimmer from 5100 series really outsells most other trimmers on the market for a good reason. To begin with, it's not a multi grooming tool but a dedicated device for men's beard trimming. And it does its job perfectly. The trimmer scores 5 out of 5 for its cutting capabilities. And all that is thanks to the Dual Sided technology. The trimmer head is shaped uniquely - the one side has a standard size and is good for trimming or shaving of the basic stuff, while the other one is smaller and can reach hard-to-get areas of your face. This more detailed side allows you to shave and trim your beard to the exact shape you want.

Another highlight is the Dynamic Beard Guide System the trimmer is featured with. Actually, the system lifts and guides hairs to help you feed every hair right into the comb and is supposed to catch even long hairs. This way, you're less likely to make multiple passes over the same area.

This Philips Norelco beard trimmer allows you to achieve the 3-day stubble, short beard or long beard look with ease. You can choose one of the 17 length settings ranging from 1/64 inch (0.4mm) to 1/2 inch (13mm). You'll simply need to rotate the Zoom Wheel until the length you need is locked in.

Useful Extras

Although the Philips Norelco BT5210/42 is a mid-range model, it looks like its more expensive rivals. It's made of high-quality materials and feels solid and well-built. The blades on this trimmer are self-sharpening and stainless steel so they can cut hairs perfectly, catching all hairs with each pass. Also, they have rounded tips which helps prevent skin irritation, important if your skin is sensitive and prone to rashes. The biggest surprise is that the Philips Norelco BT5210/42 is fully waterproof which is unexpected for a model with a lower than average price. You can safely use it in a shower and clean it off hairs after use. In case some hairs get stuck in the trimming head you can use a cleaning brush that comes included in the package. The trimming combs are also included; the package contains 4 of them: one for your beard, one for your body hair, and two hair-clipping combs for long and short hair.

All things considered, if you look for an affordable trimmer by Philips that will allow you to achieve professional results time and again, the Philips Norelco BT5210/42 will not disappoint you.

The Winner in Detailing

Suffer from razor-burns and ingrown hairs caused by your traditional shaver? If so, the Philips OneBlade is a solution. Advertised as a hybrid electric trimmer and shaver, it’s actually neither beard trimmer nor shaver. What we have on hands is an innovative one-blade electric groomer, designed especially for men with beards, mustaches, sideburns, stubble, and other facial hair styles. With the needs of modern men in mind, the Philips Norelco QP2520/70 combines some of the best features a man may need in a tirmmer. Let's see what these features are.

The first thing that attracts attention about the Philips Norelco QP2520/70 is its nice and slender design that makes it easy to operate it and maneuver, a crucial thing when it comes to precision trimming. The next thing is the fact that this trimmer uses a single blade, not dual like many other models. Yet, that in no way affects its trimming capabilities. The blade moves amazingly fast, moving 200 times per second, can perfectly manage even very short hair, and allows you to define sharp edges from any angle. Though single, this blade is surrounded by a “dual protection system”, making sure you can't get injured during use.

The included heads of the Norelco QP2520/70 are removable; changing them is done by pressing the “eject” button on the handle and takes only a few seconds. Each head has 6 months of estimated service life, yet if you'd like to enjoy its best performance, Phillips recommends replacing them every four months. If you think that's expensive, calculate what you usually spend on razor cartridges and you'll see you're wrong.

Still Hesitate?

One more advantage to this one blade multi-styler is that it can be used for both wet and dry shaving. So, if you prefer to shave in the shower, this trimmer allows for that. Besides the trimmer, the package contains 3 guards to allow you to vary length settings. In fact, this trimmer is very adaptive and will allow you to achieve a close shave as well as any other beard style you wish. Finally, the Philips Norelco QP2520/70 comes with a multi-voltage charger which makes it possible to use it anywhere around the globe. So if all these specs appeal to you, the OneBlade is a go-to option for you. Portable, durable, and extremely convenient to use, it has everything a modern man needs.

What Is a Philips Beard Trimmer?

You’ve surely noticed that beards today are much more popular than they were 10 years ago. Probably, you’ve also noticed that wild overgrown facial hair styles are a bit outdated and far and few between. Modern men choose a clean look with short, precisely trimmed beards. And that's where Philips beard trimmers come into play. Philips is the world-leading personal care company that aims "to improve people’s lives through meaningful innovation". The Philips company constantly delivers innovations to meet the needs of every customer. All their products are designed to the highest standards and boast the ease of use. And no wonder that men all around the world choose Philips beard trimmers for superior grooming experience. These trimmers are packed with the latest technologies to ensure a fast, close, and precise trim of your stubble and beard. So, if you're eager to groom your facial hair to perfection, get one of the best Philips Norelco beard trimmers.

Philips electric shavers and electric toothbrushes are the other useful care products that can make your morning routine easier and quicker.

What Features to Compare

Before buying a Philips beard shaving machine, you should decide on the following factors:

Purpose

Beside standard trimmers for beard and mustache, you can find multipurpose units intended for removing nose and ear hair as well. Moreover, some models can even allow you to style head hair. Packed with different attachments, the functionality of Philips trimmers can be greatly extended. The high-end Philips trimmers offer a wide range of length settings with a precision of 0.2 mm, so the more settings the trimmer offers, the more trimming options you'll have. In case you go for a trimmer with no adjustable length settings, it may be a good idea to additionally purchase a comb. It will come in handy when styling a beard and make it easier to cut hairs by lifting it.

Power type and Battery life

Naturally the most powerful and reliable models work off the electricity supply network. But Philips took a step forward and created the most versatile appliances that have built-in Li-Ion or NiMH batteries and can be powered either by them or the electricity supply network. They can run for up to 70 minutes cordless after a 1-hour charge or be plugged in if needed. Less sophisticated models usually use only built-in batteries. Such devices are good for those who often travel and need to keep the trimmer at hand. Typically, they can work up to 50 min after a single charge. However, if you're planning a lengthy trip, opt for models with the dual-voltage support that can be recharged in any corner of the world.

Usability

If you think you might shave in a shower, purchasing a waterproof trimmer is a smart choice. Such trimmers are watertight so you can safely use them in a bath or shower, and convenient to maintain as you can simply rinse them under the tap after use.

The material of the blades also matters. You can find blades made of stainless steel, high-carbon steel, or titanium. The latter option is considered to be the most durable but also the most expensive.

If you're going to use a beard trimmer on a regular basis, we'd recommend you to go with models equipped with self-sharpening blades. The peculiarity of these blades is that they are automatically sharpened every time you have a trim. So if your skin is sensitive and prone to irritation, a beard trimmer with self-sharpening blades is your go-to option.

Some other things that add to usability include battery life indicators, variable length settings, laser guidance, and so on. Typically, the package also includes a special cleaning brush and a travel pouch that make the trimmer more convenient in use for frequent travelers.

How to Create Different Beard Styles

How to create the Chin Curtain beard

1. Trim your facial hair up to 3-5mm.

2. Define edges. For this, take a full-size or detail trimmer and create a line in front of your sideburns. Begin from the middle of your ear to about 5 cm above your jawline. Contour the natural curves of your face up to the center of your chin.

3. Shape your beard until you get a soft angular shape. Use a trimmer with a length comb (or zoom wheel) and set it at the 3rd or 4th position.

4. Use a detail trimmer to define the outside of your chin curtain beard. Hold the trimmer upright and carefully touch the edges of the hair to make well-defined lines.

5. Use the shaver to remove unnecessary hair under your bottom lip.

6. Give a clean shave to your cheeks, mustache and neck areas, using a rotary shaver.

How to create the Anchor beard

1. Give your facial hair a nice even trim of 3-5mm all around. Use longer settings on the hairs around your mouth and on your chin.

2. Take a precision beard trimmer and create a neat border just where your neck meets chin.

3. Find the points 8 cm from either side of your chin and, using the same precision trimmer, draw the border of your Goatee.

4. Define the upper edges of the Goatee and then trim the whiskers between the bottom lip and chin, creating a rectangular shape.

5. Carefully shave the whiskers to define your beard, using a mini foil shaver. Move from the corner of your lips down to your chin, making sure you’re not touching the hairs that run from the center of your lip.

6. Shape the goatee into a rounded point using the beard trimmer. Using the zoom wheel, choose the proper length.

7. Use a precision trimmer to carve a part in the middle of your mustache.

8. Shave your cheeks and neck cleanly, using a rotary shaver.

How to create the Brett beard

1. Again, give yourself an even trim with a full-size trimmer (about 3-5mm), leaving your whiskers a bit longer along your chin and under your lower lip.

2. Use a precision trimmer to create the defined outline of your Chin Strap (a border along the edge of your chin). The strap should be somewhere about 2.5cm wide. Leave the hair in the middle of your lower lip untouched.

3. Use a detail trimmer to groom your sideburns creating a gap of 1 cm with the Chin Strap.

4. Shave cleanly your cheeks, neck and upper lip with a rotary shaver. Move in a gentle, circular motion.

How to create the Scruffy beard

1. Comb your beard downwards.

2. Set your trimmer at somewhere between 5-12 mm and groom your beard.

3. Trim the hair around your lips as you wish. That’s it.

How to create the sexy stubble

1. Don’t shave for a day or two to let your stubble beard grow in.

2. Once you’ve got a 3-5mm stubble, groom it with your a trimmer. Using a zoom wheel, adjust the preferable cutting length.

3. After trimming the beard, use a mini foil shaver so as to create a line right under your chin. Keep your neck clean below that line with a rotary shaver.

4. Gently shave the area of your beard beneath your cheekbones using a mini foil shaver. Try to form a downward oval shape.
