WD My Cloud Ex2 Ultra Network Attached Storage
- This is a good solution for people who want to add network storage drive
- Excellent hard drive with my information accessible from anywhere. Easy to set up.
- The drive is very quiet and the fan, when it actually runs is quiet for a fan.
- Love the ability to upgrade storage, love that it saves my data on two different drives, etc. Upload speeds over wifi seem excellent, given the bad internet speeds in my area.
- We ordered this because it was one of the most cost effective high capacity network attached storage devices available.
- The backup software they give you for free simply sucks, don't use it. The native windows back up is better (can't believe I just said that), they have a trial of Acronis with it, but you will need to buy the full version if you really want it to work correctly.
WD My Cloud Mirror 4TB Personal Network Attached Storage
- After years of having multiple "Back-Up" external drives, I finally bit the bullet and bought the WD 4TB My Cloud. I couldn't be happier. I have been able to consolidate all my files into one place. I love that they are accessible to any one of my computers.
- This product has met or exceeded my expectations and needs. I backup automatically and manually what I need and with 4TB size is not an issue.
- Looking around at NAS devices, I found the WD 4TB My Cloud on irresistible sale so decided to give it a try and so far I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
- I started out with a 4TB unit and now that I've seen it in action, I'm ready to go full steam ahead and convert every single internal system over to the NAS Server.
- I have the 4TB an the 8TB. Both work consistently well when I am in my home network. I have not gotten the configuration correct to continually have access outside the WIFI area (i.e. over LTE). Once the config is figured out everything will be great with these drives.

What customers say about "Features"
WD My Cloud Ex2 Ultra Network Attached Storage
- I original bought the "WD - My Cloud Mirror 4TB Personal Cloud Storage" and to me that should be taken off the shelves and have this one replace it. The other one did not have nearly enough memory/processing power for the features that were supported.
- WD does have a sync application that can/will mirror all pc's that you install the sync software on, this software runs 24/7 in the background. It works well but I would still like to have a standard backup solution from the pc over the network to the storage device.
- Works well for backup. Fast and easy to install. Remember depending on raid setup, you will only see half the capacity.
- The drive seems to work better with a PC but then again I like Windows file explorer over Apple's Finder and I'm an Apple Fanboy.
- Many RAID modes available including JBOD (Just a bunch of drives) for the most storage space. On setup everything worked and it was easy to access from most anywhere.
- Nice features and have all the things that are needed to use as a user and manage as Admin.
- I know this is not a RAID devices, but the primary storage is on one laptop and this separate device gives me protection from a single drive failure. The added feature of being able to share photos external to our network is nice since the In-Laws are out of state.
- This was simple choice for a budget option to use at home to have raid 1.
- So if you want a reliable RAID backup, that monitors the hard drive health regularly so that your data does not get corrupted, then WD Cloud Mirror and WD Cloud Pro series is “good enough”
- This is not as fast as more expensive multi-disc raid NAS systems but does fine for storing pics, hosting vids and system backups. I mirror on two of these and no issues so far.
- Google is said to be fixed on the app, but we are unable to connect due to the 403 error that's said to be corrected

What customers say about "Interfaces"
WD My Cloud Ex2 Ultra Network Attached Storage
- My entire network is mostly wireless and all is well. The only problem I have experienced is that the drive will not stream .mov files to the TV's. I have to use a USB drive either connected to the TV or router,
- Product was easy to install and works as advertised. Although it can backup USB drive/memory sticks by plugging them in directly to the device, it can't backup a pc over the network.
- This thing is excellent. No lag, works great even with multiple people locally and remotely connected to it and does not overheat.
- In my experience, native network connectivity is usually reserved for enterprise grade UPS's and not all that common for a home or small office applications.
- I have to use a USB drive either connected to the TV or router, strange. I am quite happy with my purchase as it has made getting all of my files organized in a central location.
- The bad: on my Mac and on my wife's new PC the drive won't stay connected or recognized as a net drive after a shutdown/restart.
WD My Cloud Mirror 4TB Personal Network Attached Storage
- Speed is acceptable with good utilization of the GB Ethernet. While the unit is expandable with USB ports, 4tb after raid is suitable for most home users. But backing up multiple computers might fill faster than you expect, so choose your maximum size for your budget.
- Another great feature is the onboard USB port for connecting external hard drives. It supports just about every file format out there, including Mac Journaled HFS (the standard OS X file format), as well as Windows NTFS and FAT and FAT32.
- You can attach another external USB 3.0 hard drive to use it also as a NAS
- Other than the port forwarding madness, setting it up is plug and play. The provided instructions are pretty good too.
- The web interface was a little bit slow to load other setting pages, but it isn't honestly that big of a deal...
- I also had this being backed up to an external hard drive connected via USB but at some point this also got messed up and any time I try to set it to backup automatically again it just throws errors. Tried to update the software in it but it doesn't recognize it as being online anymore either.
- It's Ethernet connected to my network, yet it disconnects from the network daily. The only way I've found to reconnect it is to physically unplug/re-plug the cable. Thank goodness I don't need it off site, like many users do.
