Best Motorcycle Speakers

The GoHawk TN4-Q pack so much punch that you'd think these are standalone speakers and not something you put onto motorcycles. To begin with, the speakers are outputting 1000 watts, making them loud enough to blast music that will be heard from tremendous distances. Even then, you can make an argument that the 1000-watt output is only playing second fiddle to the 20 Hz - 20 kHz frequency response range. With this range, the speakers are able to produce more transience and rumble, making every piece more impactful.

What you need to understand and figure out first though is that the speakers measure 4 x 5 inches each, so you have to make sure you've enough clearance to install these before purchasing. Besides that, the speakers, with the IP56 rating, could not care less about liquid invasion but the amp system is not even remotely as protected against dust and water as the speakers, so you'll have to install this one in a shaded area (behind the fairing or windshield will usually do the trick) to hide the amp from rains and direct sunlight.

The hassle is worth it though because the amp system makes ample difference (apologies but we had to), with the LCD screen that lets you access FM radio and an SD card slot and USB port that allows you to listen to music from any device.

Long story short, the GoHawk TN4-Q are not especially compact nor cheap but what the speakers offer in return is enough to justify the first place on our list.

The BOSS Audio Systems do not mess around and the MC720B model's no exception to what people have come to expect from them. First, the speakers come equipped with 3-ohm voice coils that have been specifically designed to lend extra sensitivity to the speakers, leading to increased output. Going above 93 decibels, the speakers are able to produce more sound from the same power. The power we're talking about here is 1000 watts coming from the Class D amp, generating less heat and drawing less power yet still able to provide massive amounts, especially relative to the small size. The bass output this amp is able to produce is clean but robust.

From an appearance standpoint, these speakers are awesome, not too large but, with the chrome housing and smooth, polished finish, seamlessly adding to the motorcycle's badass presence.

The system can be quite tricky to mount, that's something we'd be remiss not to mention. But, when you do that right and, among other things, put the remote in the safest, most convenient place, you'll be able to control the volume, skip and pause songs, and do more, all at the palm of your hand while riding.

Bottom line, the BOSS Audio Systems MC720B is the safest bet when you're working with limited clearance but refuse to settle for anything less than excellent.

The LEXIN LX-S3 are not that loud. Engineered and shipped without standalone amplifiers, these stereo speakers are all about reducing the footprint, even when that means sacrificing the peak power. Having said that, they're not as shy as one would think, to a point that some might even find the built-in amplifiers' bass output too much.

Sure, the speakers are able to output only 50 watts but that also means they're not drawing more than 50 watts, making them quite frugal. There's nothing frugal about these things' design though. The metallic housing with the polished chrome treatment makes these speakers look rad, elevating even the coolest motorcycles' appearance, while the bullet shape is basically an overkill at this point but the one we're fine with, thank you very much.

Now, even though the speakers are limited to 50 watts, the 92-decibel sensitivity measurement means that, again, these things can get pretty loud. Not as loud as the models drawing 500+ watts, that somewhat goes without saying but the difference here is that, with these speakers, the sound will remain crisp and detailed even at its loudest.

Last but not least, the Bluetooth 4.0 will make sure the connection is stable and consistent while you're listening to music wirelessly, while the USB port will allow you to stream music from any USB-enabled gadget, making these wireless speakers not only stylish and efficient but also quite versatile and an easy choice to make when you're not necessarily working with ample clearance.

The BOSS Audio Systems MC420B is what appeals to most motorheads that are not working with much cash but need to make sure the bike looks and sounds great anyway. As you can probably deduce from the pictures, the speakers do not look half-bad, thanks to the smooth chrome treatment and this streamlined, bullet-esque outline.

They sound more than respectable too, primarily owing to the Class D amp that brings punchy bass, pretty honest space perception, and decent separation, more than you'd expect from affordable motorcycle speakers anyway. Likewise, the amp's weatherproof construction is not something you'd normally expect but something you're always glad to see since that means you do not have to go through the hassle of hiding the amplifier from rains. Last but certainly not least, the speakers' amp will be drawing and outputting 600 watts yet its sensitivity is above 85 decibels, so you'll be able to listen to loud yet crisp audio.

We'd recommend sticking with the 3.5-mm AUX input though rather than the wireless Bluetooth connection since the BT module here is not as consistent and reliable as one would prefer. Besides that, we're more than content with the BOSS Audio Systems MC420B. The price's right and so are the construction and the output.

The GoHawk AR4 speakers go for less than 50 bucks, so these are not the most impressive speakers but we're not saying that they're without any redeeming qualities. On the contrary, we're not crazy about the black paintwork but we'd recommend that option before the chrome ones anyway thanks to the LED lights contouring the speakers. These lights are working wonders contrasting the black tone, making the speakers not only more visually expressive but also more striking and imposing, so you can raise the motorbike's profile without making considerable financial investments.

On the performance subject, we've conflicted feelings. On the one hand, the 20 Hz - 20 kHz frequency response is more than what you'd normally get from budget motorcycle speakers, so the music will not sound artificially closed-off. On the other hand, the sensitivity is limited to ~37 decibels, which's not great. In short, with sensitivity measurement this low, the music will sound terrible when you decide to crank up the volume to the maximum.

Still, considering that these motorcycle handlebar speakers are waterproof and that you can choose between the Bluetooth 4.0 module, USB port, and the 3.5mm AUX input, we do not feel conflicted closing this list with the GoHawk AR4.
