About the Product
The Redwing 44 is the perfect size for quick getaways, whether on the trail or in the air. Hybrid-loading U-zipper design works as both a top loader and panel loader, allowing easy access to all your gear. An additional stash pocket on the front of the pack makes it easy to tuck away a jacket or hoodie, and inside we've updated the organizers for maps, electronics, pens, and other travel essentials.
Osprey’s Farpoint 40 is perfect for a weekend getaway in the city or the wilderness and is built to meet most airline carry-on requirements. The LightWire frame suspension transfers the load from harness to hipbelt.

What customers say about "Key Specs"
Kelty Redwing 44 Backpack
- Great fit to my back, feels lighter than other packs with the same weight in them because of better weight distribution. Fits everything I need for camping and trips.
- There are straps up top and below to adjust weight bearing, which for me is a must. The back padding and strap padding is very comfortable.
- This pack is the perfect size for traveling with only a carry-on, offering more space than a standard backpack without being obnoxiously large.
- The waist belt is super comfy and keeps the pack weighted around your hips to reduce shoulder fatigue when putting on some foot miles too!
- Most comfortable pack near its size that I've tried (I tried a lot at the stores). Materials are adequate for semi frequent use with heavy loads.
- Seems flimsy, scratchy fabric where it touches back/body and possibly too small for a large adult male.
Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel Backpack
- The front panel opening makes these bags easy to pack, and the hip belts are beefy enough to comfortably support the load.
- This was really easy and so comfortable, even fully packed and walking in towns. No problem stowing it overhead on airplanes.
- I love the functionality of this backpack and it's a great carry on size for flights. Love this bag and highly recommended for traveling. Great size you can fit a lot of stuff in this bag!
- Padded handles are comfortable enough for quick carries, and used the super-comfortable backpack straps the majority of the time.
- This is a great bag. It has fit on all airlines as a carry-on, never had issues in that regard. The bag opens up very wide, and is easy to pack.
- The only downside we saw was that the material on the back keeps you pretty warm and sweaty backs are frequent- but I think that's true of most packs.

What customers say about "Features"
Kelty Redwing 44 Backpack
- There are loops and a daisy chain on the bottom for lashing a sleeping pad or other gear. You can slide your trekking or tent poles or umbrella behind them, cool feature.
- The fact that the main compartment zips open to expose the entire compartment is great if you have to carry a lot of gear but don't want to go digging for it.
- The size, support system, organizational capabilities, and price make Redwing packs the best value on the market.
- Enough pockets to organize everything, so you know exactly where your earbuds and neck pillow are when you board the plane!
- The pack design is great too, with pockets that serve a variety of functions, whether traveling or backpacking.
- External side pockets are not subject to compress straps and flop around if they are holding heavier items.
Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel Backpack
- The pack straps provide good support and stow away neatly under a zipped flap so they don't get caught on stuff when boarding and going through security.
- I wanted a good chest and hip belt system that was easy to protect on the plane. I wanted a front loading bag with full access. This bag has all these features.
- I like that the whole compartment zips open making the contents more accessible without having to dig through everything each time.
- The compression straps, suitcase handle, duffle bag loops, and backpack straps are all great. Opening like a suitcase is a huge benefit too!
- This pack has really nice straps and hip belt which help ease the load. They also tuck away which is a nice feature. Also includes a shoulder strap.
- The only complaint is that the laptop pouch is not heavily padded, and just seems as though it may bend the laptop if the bag were to be too full.
