Two Private Rooms

The Browning camping 3-season family size tent is a free-standing model. It is huge and very tall (7.25 ft), almost like an actual home. It offers the campers a lot of space to sleep and hide from bad weather. Technically speaking, what we have here is an 8-person tent, meaning that it can accommodate 8 sleeping bags. In this case though, there will be very little room left, so take that into account when you consider how many people you would like to bring with you on your next camping trip.

This family camping tent has two rooms with a divider, which is a very common feature for the tent of this size and price range. But unlike most of its analogs, each room has its own door. A very clever touch to add some privacy. Plus, you don’t have to climb over mattresses when going outside at night. There are 6 large windows in total (with 2 of them on the doors). In order to protect the occupants from bugs and water if it rains, all the windows are made of high-quality mesh fabrics with a waterproof panel on the inside. In case you need to close the windows, the air will still be coming through the mesh roof since there is always some space between the rainfly and the mesh. And if the weather is nice and the sky is clear, you will have the chance to observe the stars with your kids or your significant other.

The last but not the least, there are three mesh pockets in each room to keep things well-organized and a hook for a flashlight in the center. In conclusion, the Browning tent will make your adventures safe and full of comfort.

Extremely Spacious

The Ozark family tent is a cabin-style tent designed to shelter a group of 11 people.

First, we would like to talk about dimensions. The tent needs 14 x 14 inches of ground space. The floor area inside the tent is a bit different though. Since this is a T-shaped cabin tent, it has two parts: a cabin part (14 x 8 inches) and a private room (8 x6 inches). This amount of space is enough to comfortably fit 6-7 people. That is to say, the tent fits 3 queen mattresses. Moreover, there is a room divider that you can attach in the center of the cabin part. It will add some privacy.

Moving on, let’s talk about construction and materials. The Ozark Cabin Tent has two entry doors: one for the cabin part and the other one for the private room. The divider is attached in between, so you can enter the private room from any of the front rooms. The main door is large and comes with double-sided zippers. There is also a front awning with a foot cloth included that makes for a good sitting area when it is raining outside.

The Ozark Tent ensures excellent ventilation. It has three large mesh windows, mesh doors, and an all-mesh ceiling, so this model is an excellent choice for a warm climate and for sleeping under the stars. It is also equipped with an electric cable port, several mesh pockets for small items, and a lantern hook in the center of the main room.

Last but not least, the tent is simple to set up. It is advertised as an instant tent, but we’d rather say that it has a hybrid construction. Only the main cabin is made instant. You will need to spend a few minutes on the fly and private room set up. So, if you are looking for a tent that is both easy to set up and has plenty of room, this model will be the best choice.

Not a Single Droplet Inside

The Coleman Montana 8 is a spacious family tent that can provide 5 adults with shelter and a lot of free space to store their camping gear. It is long, high (6ft), and easy to put up. Conventional so far, but this model also offers a few clever touches that are key to the tent's success.

First off, there are two mesh windows angled inward on each end wall. Thanks to this design solution, you will be able to leave them open under the rain and have your tent stay dry on the inside. The D-shaped door has a hinged frame with a zipper and Velcro, so you won't have to unzip it each time you go in and out. A small folding mat that is sewn to the tent’s base is also a nice little feature since you will always have a spot to stand on while putting on or taking off your boots. On top of that, the manufacturer has added a few small pockets inside the tent to keep things neat and a flashlight hanger in the center.

Finally, the model in question is absolutely no slouch when it comes to weather protection. The 8 person tent has a waterproof bathtub floor with welded corners and over ground inverted seams and zipper cuffs for extra waterproofing qualities. Plus, the redesigned reinforced poles and frame ensure better protection against the toughest winds.

Compact and Lightweight

The Core Extended Dome Tent is made durable, pretty lightweight for a family tent of this size, and compact when folded. For this reason, this tent is often the best choice for backpacking and camping near lakes with your family.

The Core 9 is a pretty spacious tent. It is designed to accommodate 9 people, promising 16 square feet of sleeping space for each. But if we talk about comfort, this tent can offer shelter for up to 5-6 people. The height of the tent in its central part is 6 feet so you can stand up inside. But since this is a dome tent, it has the walls and the ceiling sloped downward from its center.

This model is designed for warm seasons mostly. It has mesh windows along its perimeter and a mesh ceiling that allows you to stare the night sky while falling asleep without annoying bugs and mosquitoes all over your head. At the same time, you’ve got a solid rainfly in case the weather gets rainy. Plus, this model is made with heat-sealed seams and zippers all over the tent.

Unlike many other family tents in this price range, the Core 9 has advanced ventilation. It has adjustable air vents around its base. They let cool air in, while the mesh ceiling lets hot air out. You will also notice an electric cable port, a couple of lantern hanging hooks, and mesh gear lofts and pockets to store small stuff like glasses or a torch.

Finally, the assembly of this family tent is pretty simple. Two people can handle it in 15 minutes or so. The Core 9 has symmetric poles: 2 longer for the dome and 2 shorter for the sides. Finally, the poles are made from fiberglass, which makes them super lightweight.

Huge Cabin for a Large Family

The Coleman Tenaya Lake cabin family tent can be rightly called a mobile home for comfortable camping. It has two bedrooms with a view and a closet. Frankly, the only thing that isn't included is the bathroom. Very spacious, this tent can easily accommodate a small family of 3-4 people as well as a larger group of 6 campers. Let alone that there will be plenty of room for the camping gear. But if you'd like to find space for more people, the Coleman model can easily hold 8 sleeping bags. Clothes and other stuff will just go to the capacious closet.

Comparing this tent with the Coleman Montana 8-person tent, the model in question differs in terms of design. Since the Tenaya Lake has straight walls, you will be able to freely and comfortably move around the tent. There are also large windows on every wall and an extra one on the D-shaped door with Velcros. They provide excellent airflow. Besides, the windows don’t zip all the way up to the top, thus giving the campers some privacy and a light breeze at night.

Similar to the majority of modern instant family tents, setting up the Tenaya Lake won't prove to be a challenge. However, considering its size, some assistance won’t go amiss. What we do love about this tent is how easy it is to take the whole thing down. Stowing this tent takes a couple of minutes and requires next to no effort.

What Is a Family Tent?

Most parents would agree that spending a holiday outdoors, fishing and reconnecting with nature is way better than simply going to the movies and having a few slices of pizza afterward. Camping can be a lot of fun as long as you have all the essential equipment and know camping safety rules.

Of course, every camper knows that a good family tent is a must-have when it comes to spending some quality time outdoors. Other than the tent, many campers also get camping chairs and tables in order to improve their level of comfort.

Today, the market is full of family camping tents of all sizes and shapes. They have many useful features and can accommodate from one to over 8 people at a time. Naturally, the main purpose of a tent is to provide shelter for the night out under the stars and to protect the owner(s) from bad weather. As you'd imagine, modern family tents do this job pretty well. Most of them are 3-season tents that offer the customer good air ventilation, heat retention, and protection from unexpected weather changes. Family camping tents can be either lightweight for backpacking or heavy for traveling by car. They have windows, vestibules, and even built-in closets in order to replicate the level of comfort people usually feel at home.
