So if you want a reliable and durable jack that’s going to be comfortable in use, the Pro-Lift B-012D is a pretty well-rounded choice. It could use a few improvements but it’s great as is.

That’s not as much as some of the more expensive models support but it’s a good level for the price. Besides, you get an excellent lift range between 11.5 and 21.5 inches, allowing for comfortable work on the vehicle.

However, there is a small shortcoming in the Alltrade 640912, namely in its design. You see, this model is manual control only and the release valve isn’t exactly in a good spot. If you’ve got your hands full with tools and parts, it may be tough to operate the jack.

But minor flaws aren’t enough to bring down an excellent product and that’s exactly what the Alltrade 640912 is. Boasting excellent stability, pretty good max load, and a convenient lifting range, this is a tool that will find everyday use in any car lover’s garage.

Getting car problems on the road can be a real pain if you’re not ready for them. However, it’d be insane of us to recommend you carry around a 30-pound jack “just in case”. Luckily, you can choose the Pro-Lift B-004D instead, which is easy to keep in your trunk and use for any emergencies.

This lightweight 7-pound jack is designed for passenger vehicles and thus supports 8,000 lbs, maybe not exactly the highest load but still enough for a regular car. Besides, the areas that will likely bear most of the load are heat-treated and thus reinforced to withstand more weight. With that, you know for sure that there will be no unfortunate accidents during maintenance.

Plus, the ram itself glides smoothly out of the jack even though its movement is controlled manually. The top has a steel lifting saddle that cradles the vehicle and prevents it from sliding off or pushing the jack out.

Last but not least, we were pretty impressed by the 8 to 15.4 inches lifting range. It’s not the highest on the market but it’s surprisingly high for a portable jack. With that in mind, we wholeheartedly recommend the Pro-Lift B-004D if you’re concerned about car damage on the road. It’s a reasonably priced and reliable tool that might save you from a big headache and a ruined trip.

If reliability and ease of use are the key features you want from your car maintenance tools, the Torin T90603B is an astute choice. This model has a welded and heat-treated body with a 2-layer reinforcement in the pump. All that prevents both physical damage and leaks of hydraulic oil, ensuring the tool’s durability and extending service life.

Besides, the extra thick body can withstand higher temperatures so you can use the Torin T90603B in the range of 40°F to 105°F. This is particularly useful if you plan on welding parts of your vehicle or working in a high-temp environment.

With that kind of quality and a 12-ton max load, it’s kind of strange that the Torin T90603B is so affordable. But that may be due to the poor quality of its paint job. The paint peels off pretty fast which leads to reduced anticorrosion properties. Still, that’s nothing you can’t fix with a brush and a cheap bucket of paint from the nearest store, not exactly a dealbreaker.

While we often find the automatic models to be more efficient in use, the budget-friendly Torin T90603B is a great find and a reliable tool for any garage. It’s well-designed, durable, and has pretty high specs for a model at this price. An excellent pick for a thrifty shopper!
